Number plate wanker - show us yours?

I have just joined the PRIVATE PLATE WANKER club with this effort I got as a birthday present from my good wife.

As you can hopefully tell without squinting too hard or needing to be dyslexic it's meant to say Dave Q, with the proviso that this is as close as you can get to Dave without spending more than the car is worth and the bastards won't let you have Q.

Anyone care to share their wanker plates? I feel that this is a distinct thread from the "Great number plates" thread as TBF many of them won't be.

Bought for my wife in 2002, for our 12th wedding anniversary.  It's been on a mk3 cavalier and since 2013 been on the MX5, which makes it look older than the R reg it was

🚨 Triple wanker, here. 🚨

My name is Liam. Had this one since I was 21. I'm 40, now. 6956C446-1307-4B16-BC48-422C5DB34567.thumb.png.df15b1036c786c0802d8025ead5c7365.png

The MR2 is never going anywhere, so I wanted (IMO) a nice plate for it. It's a GT-S (turbo), with a 3S-GTE engine.

The Rexton one was just a laugh, for £250. But I like it. 😄

Got EL15 VAN for Eli's Van although I sold the Vito recently so on retention for now.

10 NYN is on my Discovery.  Will advertise it soon as it means nothing to me but bought to sell.  I have a few plates that I've bought and sold as values have risen a lot over last couple of years.  Its only a bit of paper in the drawer as well so takes up a lot less room that having cars sat waiting for buyers.

Sorry, not getting 'Dave' anything from that, but definitely a hint of 'Are we not men? We are Devo' 😛

Couple of times I've thought about getting some kind of wanker plate but I wouldn't want one that attempts to spell my name, especially at the 'If you squint it sort of says...' end of the market. I change cars quite often too, so I'd be shelling out a transfer fee at least once a year based on recent years although the Saab may be a longer term prospect so I still might.

Got two wanker plates, both with my initials at the end.

^ X444RKB on the Skoda. Had the plate almost a year now.

And I've also got G17RKB which is sitting on retention waiting for me to get drunk enough to buy a stupid with my savings.

This (Honda) came with this plate - I'd sell it if I thought there was somebody daft enough to try using a black screw to turn that R into a B.

No need to apologise, it is what it is.

If you're name is not one of the top 5 bloke names in the country and your initials are not literally banned then you might have better luck, but anything that really spells out a human name is like 5 figures. Even fairly shit £250 DVLA plates people are trying to resell for £5-800.

If only my parents had the foresight to name me J321DVE.

I bought “MHZ 433” for Ami thinking I was being super clever - toy car and all that - until I found out that frequency isn’t actually used for RC cars but more like key fobs and shit. Meh.

Still sitting on retention.

27MHZ I think for most RC shite, MHZ 27 must exist but isnt on a car at the moment.

TBF most people wouldn't know the difference if you just put MHZ 433 on anyway and said "RC car innit" but the few RC bores that did know the difference would tell you, at length, whether you liked it or not.

I imagine it’s worth a fair bit more too just being shorter.

This one came on a CLK bought from this very boutique, courtesy of @Skcat as it’s a P1 number it’s nice and short and even though it means nothing to us Daughter No.1 transferred it when the CLk got scrapped. It’s also listed with some chancer company for a couple of thousand quid !

I once had a company called CTU ( yes around the time of 24 on telly) as I’m a Gobshite my Mrs had M5 with the 5 made to look like an S and I had R5 CTU. In about 6 years of this dodgy typeface we only got warned once by a copper and they never failed an MOT. I left R5 CTU on an Espace but she’s had M5 on most of her cars since.

I bought N5 to hide the age of something and chose it because ;

a. People think I’ve got 2 Cars on the same number

b. It’s an anagram.

The number I really want is RJH 5 as on a S2 Land Rover at a show, not 30 miles from me. My full initials are RJHS. Can’t find the pic, but someone put it on here earlier in the year.

First one I got was this, about 20 years ago. Originally stuck on an M reg Golf Driver. 6 was the lowest number I could get. It's been on four cars now.

IMG_5543.thumb.JPG.9939eb745452a00dac13f3b124ab177f.JPG

Next I got this. I chose the G because if you squint it looks like 66. Now on it's third car.

2009_06030018.thumb.JPG.98d7518beaeab53733de883d6f1aaf1e.JPG

Then I contacted DVLA about the next one and won it in an auction. It's been on two cars and now is on retention.

After my sucess with the DVLA I inquired about 1275 GT, as I owned a Mini 1275 GT at the time. They said they could put it in an auction. so I said OK. Waited about 18 months or so for the plate to come up for auction, only to fall off my chair because it sold for £12,000

Since I am blessed with a 3 letter first name, and an unusual one at that, I have pondered getting a personalised plate. Looks like I have a decent selection for between £500 and £700 on the DLVA site which isn't too bad considering what some seem to go for.

I could easily get my full first name followed by my surname initial in the sub £1000 end of the market but I don't have that kind of mindset.
I  might buy a simple 3 letters/3 numbers plate as an age hider since most of my cars are ancient old toss.

I’m not so much into names, I just like  old plates that look good. I don’t have any at the mo, buying and selling is easy and as long as you buy at the right price you don’t lose money. These are from this year.

The TransSport came with…

C74A9813-548E-45E2-8CBF-BE7E79A2E819.jpeg

Tempted to pick up another 10NNK plate to match it.

My recently depart Volvo had this one, but as it had been on since new I couldn’t bear to part them.

My Saab has its original Blackburn plate on it… but it’s the only car I’ve had anyone offer to buy the numberplate! And getting another RxxOCK plate is not easy

Oh and the TF has one for someone who’s initials are JC and surname is Wynne…

Anyone who matches that nomenclature and wants to buy it do get in touch!
