Cars with the model number in the registration plate

Hey shite fans, I have been out on my travels and saw this

I see loads of cars round here with the model number in the plate, either by accident or design, for example J18440 and J66405 are both currently on the correct models of Volvo hatch and Peugeot estate respectively (sorry no pics). Examples probably harder to find on the UK mainland, surprise me?

When they were launched, you couldn't go 10 yards around Kensington and Knightsbridge without seeing a BMW X5 with the registration X5. It was 2 years until I saw one that wasn't black too

I'm not sure I've seen a BMW X6 without an X6 plate, just to make sure that you really, definitely consider the owner an absolute wanker.

CL 10 *** plates on Clios. Saw ME 109 on a Porsche 944 years ago. Of course, JAG plates on Jaguars are not uncommon. I always fancied M5 DOS for myself.

I must admit to an occasional lusting to have the number plate A602 TPV on a 2CV, but I think that's a bit geeky.

Years ago a mate of mine had a wolsley 4/44 with the reg RUA 444.

 

I can't think of any others that haven't obviously been "selected" as opposed to a random coincidence.

My old next door neighbour Ray, who sadly died a couple of years ago had N 900 RAY on his Saab 900 Unfortunately a lot of the effect was lost when he eventually moved on to a 9-3 and transferred the number

Yeah, short-sighted folk always seem to buy a plate for a car, then keep the plate. So you see V8 BMW on a 535tds or something. Or maybe they're just pretending...

There was a craze amongst the Honda CRX fraternity some years ago for CRX plates. I think a lot of money probably changed hands for plates which are worthless now.

911 HUL rings a bell. Its still on a 911 turbo.

 

 

It's owned by Porsche GB - they've had it on press cars since around 1976/7.

 

The also had THE928S and . I think, 94FOR.

 

On a far less grand scale, I had an old red 520i with K520PAG.
