The grumpy thread

I could do with an explanation. How is there fluid sloshing about in my tyre/rim? It's positive pressure. After cleaning the rim, left it inside after washing in the spare bath (not sitting in water obvs, just inside to dry). How the hell did that happen...

I had an eye doctor shoot my left eye 87 times today with a freakishly bright green laser.

Apparently my retina was beginning to tear and was at risk of detaching.

So, it has now had the equivalent of being spot-welded back on and I do have to say it is not exactly comfortable.

That pillock did the same to an M reg Merc SL that had a pair of lovely old round font perspex plates. He claimed that it really finished the car off, in the same way a bullet finishes off an injured animal I presume.

What a hemet.

Never watched the show again.

If you stay on the A50 you don't get to see the real Stoke. I suggest coming off just after the Tunnel (if heading west) and taking random turns until you are lost.

You'll probably die.

I dropped the pin on google maps to see Stoke, and all I've got it this. Looks nice, but deserted.

Watched that last night as well, lovely advanced design from the mid seventies and that fool puts a black and silver 60s plate on it.  I treated the wife to a small rant that may have inclluded looking up the tippers site to show her the right plate.  Shes a lucky woman...

Actually launched 1967, but that particular example was built/sold after the introduction of white / yellow plates.

Even more inappropriate are the eejits putting black and silver plates on their modern SUVs because they think it looks cool*

Volvo v5 came through yesterday.

The seller has added an extra letter to my surname that I didn't put in the keeper change boxes.

Story of my life.

Was it seller or DVLA error....?

Son is still very sore and is now complaining about his knees. I'm starting to get worried.

Take him back in for another check. though It’s probably the effects of the trauma causing inflammation as things start their repair process.

That said, take him back in. You can never be too careful when it comes to kids!

Great timing complaining about the state of the roads - we mush have a synchronized time of the month / year. Super POed with the roads on the little island I live on.

The city decided to have all the roads resurfaced and seriously updated from the base up where needed. Sounds okay but in our town, the house owners have to cough up the money for the stretch of road outside your house.

You can either cough up for the full amount all at once (shade under $5k for the stretch we are responsible for - one car wide and they didn’t even put in kerbs on the far side; am I ever glad we don’t live in a corner house) or have it added to our housing tax over the next million years.

They finished it one summer ago. Yesterday the gas and electric came to a new house being built on a plot subdivision to connect up new utilities. Dug two wide bloody trenches across the road and when I drove to work this morning noted that they just filled them with loose rocks and shite.

Those bastards better come back and fix those buggers properly or I’ll have some real ranting to do at the local council!

It’s like having a toy you haven’t finished paying for when some other bugger comes up and breaks it for you and you can do nothing to stop them.

Not that I can talk, as both of my 1972 cars have black / silver plates.

Got a black/silver plate on the Lambretta, but it's a horrible sort of 'modern' look one.

i especially bought some proper yellow and black serek number plates for the mini 1000,

the ones with the separate numbers and letters riveted on to the backing plates.

thats not the grump, the grump is that i have 3 fuckin' job interviews next week, and that those jobs are for an engineering job, the sort of job that i have said i would never, ever go back too....

Yup, I used to sell Serck plates (and rads) at Longlife. Quality stuff.

Man purchases an electric car. Good for him saving the planet, in his mind he is happy.
Now dislikes that Bristol will not give him a fuel discount. Welcome to the real world, cars cannot be run from the public purse

Does seem a bit of a rip off TBH 30p, per kWh, that's double what my home electric costs + still got to pay for parking..

It turns out that getting totally pissed on red wine last night wasn’t quite the best preparation for moving house today :(

hey ho, can’t do anything about that now, the van will be here in half an hour, better start packing :)

Wel if he can afford a Tesla then AFAIC he can afford to pay the charging fees and car parking fees. Put your big girl pants on lad and suck it up.

Ok... this is going to sound like a massively middle class/over privileged grump but...

Living in a house with a number of large trees, windy nights like last night really worry you... I dread the thought of one day discovering one of these trees has fallen on the garage! The bloody wind kept me up half the night!

Tesla bloke pays £4.50 for one-fifth of a full 'tank', so £22.50 for a full charge.

I thought these Model S Teslas did 300 miles to a full charge? If* that's right, it's still the equivalent of over 70mpg as well as having the other tax breaks and, battery replacement aside, lower maintenance costs.

I don't see a problem.

I don't see a problem.

300 miles is the maker's own test data.

In the real world, more like 200 to 250 miles, especially as Model S drivers will more likely use all of the frightening performance capabilities.

The boughs can also do a lot of damage.

I suggest getting a tree surgeon in as, when we did, he identified some of the areas of risk and rectified them.

A useful by product is that we still have loads of free firewood.

If you're in a conservation area he can also do the relevant paperwork.

We have a small wood behind us and over the last twenty years the dozen or so willows closest to us have come down one by one. The council own the land and we have escaped any serious damage but the fence has been taken out a couple of times. We now have cherry and young willow replacing the lost ones, they are closer to the house so may be more of an issue in thirty years times.  When we moved in one willow was so close it would knock on the roof on a windy day. Thankfully it was on our property and not under a tree protection order so it went in short order. I hate taking trees out but sometimes you have to lose a bit to save a lot.

Christ I've been hungover today. I can't drink properly anymore. To make matters worse Mrs Imps friends and their kids came round. I just hid in the bedroom for 2 hours vowing never to drink again.

This means I've not done any of the work that I was planning on doing on the cars. :( Hopefully will be able to tomorrow. Need to sort the lock on the 944 and get the Visa checked over ready for its MOT as I feel I need to have it on the road with all the other Visa action going on here at the mo.

I did like seeing Volksys Jag though, looking quite splendid.

I also ordered some trainers yesterday from Shuh and they've sent the wrong ones. Bumhats.

Oh, and I took a jumper back to Reiss that I got for Mrs Imp for Christmas (it wasn't very nice on) and they wouldn't refund it as it was more than 14 days after I bought it, so I had to do an exchange so now have a £120 cardigan that I didn't want or need. The fact it was reduced from £150 is no consolation.
