Not sure how I'd feel if someone turned up in this to do my roof.

Budapest in a nutshell.

Fancy old buildings, lots of waste ground and a mk1 Suzuki Swift.

They were made in Hungary. A mechanic friend of mine served his time in a Hungarian Suzuki dealer.

That picture could be any provincial French village/town back in the 1980s (complete with concrete telegraph/power poles) - nowadays they're all planters, pedestrian crossings and fancy lamposts. Think Hungary looks much better.

Yes I know, they are a national symbol of Hungary. They are still everywhere. If I was Viktor Orban I'd have one put on the flag. In that metallic blue they came in.

If someone turned up at mine in a Vauxhall Arena to quote for a job they'd immediately go to the top of the queue.

I didn't even know they were a thing! Vauxhall like rebadging old vans, anyone seen the new movano?

That's because it's been used for all night raves and cooking crack in the daytime.

It's often the ones with a shiny leased VW T6 that have cashflow problems and cut corners.

I know of a couple of organisations which only buy* new  VW Transporter vans, run them for a couple of years before stripping the signwriting and selling them as 'ready for conversion'.

I also know a contractor who bought an all electric Transporter......... with a 40 mile range.

The dealership where my SIL works has recently bought a number of Transits at auction..... just as prices seem to be taking a dive.

My local friendly welder knocks around in a tatty looking H reg T25.

It's even older than my Škoda and almost certainly older than 95% of the stuff he works on. I'm sure he's had to weld bits of it himself but doesn't do anything he doesn't have to. I got him recommended to me by my MOT place for a small patch on the inner wing only about two inches square. He charged me £20. Can't imagine anybody with monthly payments on a shiny new van being able to do that.

He's selling loads of these converted radios at obscene prices . He has a Triumph Acclaim cassette player for a mere £230. I paid £10 for mine but it is, admittedly, not Bluetooth. Although he does convert radios you send him for £140...

I've got custody of the ex- @BorniteIdentity Avensis SR while Miss SL and her BF are back at uni (slumming it in the LS400, poor old students). So it would be silly not to use it:

Realising you have too much German and Swedish chod on and around your drive.  French car belongs to the neighbour who works for German and Swedish. 🤣 VW T4 under reconstruction in the garage, Opel Manta out the back. 1 other car from West Bromwich saving the day.

Queue for the skip is a bit depressing tho'? That Fiat (Seat?) must have had a hell of a job pushing the 110

The panda has a heavily breathed on "new" panda 100hp engine, so probably about twice the power of the 110!
