michael t
Hi everyone. I'm thinking of selling a number of shite orientated postcards/posters/coasters/bookmarks/mugs etc with some of my spots from my spotting thread http://autoshite.com/topic/29342-the-irish-shite-spotting-depository-south-dublin-spectacular/ I'd be very grateful for any feedback on the idea. As honest as possible too. If its a naff idea I'll knock it on the head. What items would you buy? Few of my finer spots below to give you an idea... paulplom and HillmanImp

Wingz123
I’d have a few coasters - I like the Audi Beemer and Merc...
castros_bro
Hi. I am not sure of your "business model" but for 10ish years, as a sideline to badlly paid employment, I was printing/selling cards/postcards/A4 prints mainly on heavyweight glossy card from photographs I had taken, usually avoided anything which would identify a person/vehicle or property (unless commissioned by owner). On a pure business level the time and cost of advertising, website, selling and posting meant the hours spent were not really covered by the profit, financially it would be better to do a few evenings at the local DIY super store. The advantage I had was having access to large colour printers and free cardstock so production costs mainly zero. I'd say go for it, website's only £10, watermark all photos on displayed on websites, maybe remove reg numbers, if other people give you photos then get "written" permission to use them in any way you choose (suspect there'll be quite a few from here), but make sure you keep a note of all the approximate time, costs and income then stop if it becomes tooo unprofitable. Good Luck PS. Here's some posting from previous printings. http://autoshite.com/topic/7904-autoshite-top-trumps-nominate-your-car/page-
artdjones
The Fintail and the Lancia are good images with some punch. The others are a bit grey. Justin Case
GeordieInExile
Would be great if you included the town name on the items - would make ace presents!
JimH
It's been said already but you're hardly going to make a fortune at it so only do it because you enjoy it. I'd sound a note of caution on the subject matter. The Cortina, the Merc and the Lanca say "there by hangs a tale" which is probably what you are aiming for. The dropped number plate, the vaulable Italian looking dog eared in the street are all good. I feel that the top one crosses some sort of line which I haven't quite worked out on my head. It comes over as being too close to "ha ha ha let's all laugh at people who don't have much money" for comfort. Skizzer
barefoot
I made a similar thing, set out like an old fashioned postcard with 'Castle Donington' in the centresurrounded by four really, really shitty views of the village.Couldn't even sell them to the local art gallery. And I'm a proper artist innit? jon.k
My drive could probably feature on one of these, and I drive a similar but shitter golf, but I wouldn’t like someone selling mugs with it printed on without me knowing. If you have permission then it’s different of course. Skizzer
NorfolkNWeigh
Sorry, I don't get it. But then I wouldn't buy a mug, coaster etc whatever was on it. Even Beyoncé and Michelle Pfeiffer naked draped tastefully over a Snowberry white pre-production square headlamp Austin 3-Litre. Just a random example, you understand. pshome
not sure about postcards etc, but clocks will certainly sell well.
PhilA
not sure about postcards etc, but clocks will certainly sell well. But only if they have Roman numerals and fancy twee hands to go with. Especially if you haven't tested it to see if it works. Phil pshome

Bucketeer
Sounds like a decent idea to me. As a bonus, it might give you extra impetus to, and extra enjoyment from, searching out the very best spots. As mentioned, I would consider blanking out number plates and be wary of using pics from owners drives especially when their house number is in picture. On a side note, if you need to increase your range or whatever then you're very welcome to use any of the hundreds and hundreds of pics from my old thread. You know the kind of French, Bulgarian, Cypriot, UK, Turkish, Romanian etc garbage that I'm on about. michael t
captain_70s
Would you be at risk of the manufacturer's of said cars getting pissy at you infringing on their intellectual property, as they did with Vulg's drawings?
castros_bro
In the UK generally photos in public spaces are ok but not to include anything which are personally identifiable, peoples faces, number plates, house numbers No pictures with children in. Some public buildings can be taken as possible terrorist targets so photos of them can be classed as "documentation to assist terrorists" so risk of arrest etc. unless you get permission beforehand. Go to Cuba and take photos of everything without a problem. michael t
michael t
Thanks for the advice everyone, much appreciated, and thank you in particular to the honourable Bucketeer for permission to use his pics. If I do I'll let you know sir!
