I've not received the seatbelts I bought from someone (not on here) for the xsara. I think so far he's just been useless, and may even be a scammed but now it's lockdown, I'm just leaving it for now. Getting scammed out of £25 is the worst case, eventually getting seatbelts before the MOT tests start again is the best case.

After spending all day emptying my parents house, including carrying 133 boxes down into the garage, a good 50 of them full of books the stupid brand new airbed I was sleeping on went fully flat overnight. I'm in mega hurty mode now, are all air beds so fucking shit? All of mine do it to some degree and this was a brand new one mum found in the loft... 

I'm sure when I start carrying heavy boxes it'll hurt less*

We bought a cheap double one from a camping warehouse a couple of years ago and it's been absolutely fine.  We stick a normal bedsheet on it and it just works.  Does deflate a bit -TADTS but not much.  Most are utterly shite though, you're right.

I think I'm the only person who thought the NHS clap was lame. I'm very anti-planned-clapping out the window. The Italian one was novel and more spontaneous. This one was contrived.

I'm very pro actually paying competitive wages for NHS, ditching shitty parking charges and shitty paperwork where they're forced to waste time. I'd gladly pay more tax to make this happen. Practical thanks rather than a token gesture. 

Saying this, I also don't like birthday cards so maybe I'm just a grumpy shite.

I assume a lot of people clapping out the window are also the same people collecting in parks, making unnecessary trips and flouting the isolation rules.

I guess if even one nurse felt a tweeny bit more appreciated for completely seperating from their family for 12 weeks and going balls deep into  harms way trying to save people with the most deadly virus in modern times, whilst being rewarded with £1700 month then it was likely not that lame really.

Hopefully the public can come up with something less contrived, original and more to your taste next time, any preferences ?

This was some decent brand. Granted all the ones I ever buy are cheap shit from tesco that then get blown up in the back of the car for shitefest so I'll let those off.

Imagine having a different opinion to you and a bunch of other people eh? Well aware it wasn't about me.

I'm saying that a practical solution might be a bit more appreciated than a clap out the window. Removing parking charges was a good start.

People staying indoors would also be a much nicer gesture

Absolutely, plus of course it'll be a good excuse not to build the 40 new hospitals that they weren't going to build anyway. We'll just be expected to deal with it as employers tell us there's no money for a rise, fuck peoples hours about and the end of the zero hours contracts is even further away.

Surely the hmrc have all out tax returns? They just need to got through the last three years of everyones account and send the check out in the post.
Or am I missing something?

I’m one of the normal people who participated, unfortunately I don’t have the power to remove parking charges but I was able to show a very small gesture of appreciation.
I’m also staying in apart from travel to and from work.

I agree.

The clapping was somewhat contrived, but I'm not against it as such.

I'm more against the way it's almost being treated as an alternative to doing something tangible to help the NHS rather than being complimentary to some practical measures.

There was a post on reddit this morning asking what the exchange rate was for NHS claps to the pound, so they knew how many claps they'd need to pay their rent, for example (Yes I know it's somewhat tongue in cheek, but also not entirely so).

Have you attempted to organise a petition using social media, to make all hospitals provide free parking for anyone on shifts starting before 8am or leaving after 7pm 

Even if they did a salary sacrifice it would reduce the Nic/paye portion. That is pay them less and they get free parking.

I haven’t and I wouldn’t know how to tbh as I’m not a prolific fb user/activist and have a very small circle of friends. 
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that make a difference either, ofc ymmv. 

In any case, I’ll revoke my clap as it seems to be a cause of some ire here.

I understood that once they've done all their processing of the last 3 years' tax returns, those found to be eligible would be invited to apply - in other words, if you are told that you qualify, but then don't get your claim in,  they're not going to give the money to you. It's not an automatic payout.

Agreed.

They emptied work and got us to stand outside (2m apart) and clap. Some folk set off fireworks, some motorists beeped their car horns.

While it is nice that people seemingly support the NHS and the gargantuan amount of work they do it seems to me like a self congratulatory pat on the back for the clappers who are probably the same people voting for political parities that want to reduce the system's funding and panic buying toilet rolls. Plenty of people were videoing their clapping as well, no doubt to post online to show what a good person they are.

We clapped from our darkened doorstep, as did the other folks in our street that participated. I didn’t see anyone filming it or looking smug about the gesture. Granted we were all quite a distance from one another so I shouldn’t assume. 
My mrs and I both work in distribution for a supermarket chain and for the last three weeks have been trying our best to make sure shops are stocked as well as possible via knocking our collective pans in and working as many extra hours as needed. We are also happy to be doing something that isn’t just about profit for our company. 
Our workforce is severely depleted atm, genuine and advantage takers unfortunately but those remaining are trying to do what they can to make a bad situation a little better within their abilities. 
 

We haven’t been stockpiling supplies either nor expecting thanks/gushing on social media. 
 

We’re a complicated bunch aren’t we people?

Outlaw_Junior (stepson) is in the midst of moving.

A couple of weeks ago, repossession papers were served at his rented flat; he's only been there 6 months, and it was muggins here that did most of the moving, his "dad" did fuck all, and his sister spent an afternoon putting a wardrobe together.

He rang his landlady and she promised that it was dealt with, a big mistake, blah blah. 

On Friday, some "recovery agents" knocked looking for her. They wouldn't disclose who they were working for, and it took ages for them to be convinced that she wasn't either living with him, or hiding in a cupboard.

So, after being told by his employer his job is in jeopardy, he's decided enough is enough, and has bought himself a caravan and is going to live in that.

So, 3 guesses who's doing the move with him?

Yep.

His "dad" is too busy self isolating, and his sister and partner have decided they need to visit partner's relatives in Loughborough for a fortnight.

So according to the media, me and him are going to be fined, arrested, thrown in jail and tiger-bummed,for doing "unesassary travel" all because his fucking landlady believes it's OK not to pay bills.

Had to go shopping today so we went to Waitrose as we thought it would be more civilised than the other supermarkets at the mo. Mrs Yoss then suggested it would be easier to do social distancing if I stayed in the car. I sort of half heartedly said 'are you sure' but I was quite happy, just sat and caught up with a few threads on here. 

Whilst sitting there this woman turned up in this Volvo and parked half over the pedestrian walkway. 

What's more it took her two attempts to park this badly. Then she got out and walked off without looking back because she knew full well how shit her parking was. I was hoping somebody was going to run a trolley down the side of her car.
