That isn't me. That isn't even my building from what I can tell. Asked them to clarify and apparently it'd been left with a neighbour at flat 1/1. Except it hasn't, because that isn't my building.

Also, Christmas jumper, in February...

If you find the neighbour maybe take some hauners with you when collecting.

50% chance they are a student and it's laundry day ..or they're a serial killer 😐

No but it'll make me feel better. Someone will have to open the letter, read it and post out a contrite reply. Point of principal really.

Good. Actual paper mail likely to be a rarity, and will be dealt with

Saying that, I had some invoices today from Southern Water for 2 of my shops. Most duplicated in the same envelope, some even triplicated. For some months in.....2009!

Post Office Telephones, now owned by Shell Energy, mis-sold a telephone contract to my elderly neighbour , sent letters demanding payment for £27 , when I got through to them to explain he was in intensive care dying with cancer , they refused to let him out of the tariff without speaking to him ... When asked how else they could get out of the contract ....they said send them a death certificate !!!!!

Edit; He wasn't even dead when they said that !!

I used to work for Post Office Homephone back in the mid-2000s, or at least was employed at one of the many disjointed subcontractors that made up their somewhat chaotic patchwork of service provision.

Can confirm.

Storm Eunice has turned my gates into matchsticks. Seen some wrought iron ones on market place. Will have to get the trailer out as the vectra, despite being an estate, doesn't have much of a boot - the opening is only around 40" wide.

When you think how big the likes of  volvo 740/940's are you realise car design lost it's way a bit - some estates are no better than useless in terms of boot space.

conversion I had on-site with some bell end this morning

Customer-

we would like to cross-section the high pressure Material Hoses on this machine to check their internal condition

Me-

is there an issue with the Machine?

Customer -

No, we just want to cross-section the high pressure hoses to check them internally then re-fit them back on the machine

Me-

Cross-section? As in cut them in half ?

Customer-

Yes! Correct

Me-

If you cut them in half, you will need new high pressure hoses

Customer-

why?!!!

Me-

if you cut the High Pressure Material Hoses in half they will leak because they will be in 2 halves they will be scrap

Customer-

(Walks away in a huff)

Talking of eBay, I sent a message to someone selling a car last night and when the copy appeared in my email it had my full name, email address and phone number showing as part of the message, guy I was speaking to confirmed he could read it too.
Tried to contact eBay to sort it out and spent 45 minutes on chat getting passed around from one disinterested script reader to another so no use there either,

Breach of GDPR, surely?

If it was also displayed on the listing page, definitely. But if only in the message received by the seller, ebay might claim that they are protecting the seller by sending full contact details of enquirers with their message.

They just didn’t think, as it not working would have been my problem

Still under warranty though.. Hmm good luck with that.

Power went at lunch because a tree fell a few miles away. 5000 customers are affected apparently. It's a shame because everywhere apart from my line of houses has electricity 😅

Is it one of these where they can about afford the lease but can’t afford tyres or a set of pads?

She was fine when I explained that brakes are wear and tear items. She did say it would probably cost 800 quid at Land Rover so can I do it.

Can't believe she didn't hear it though.

We keep getting that, and they keep saying we can have one - and in fact have sent an engineer out twice.  However then get flummoxed when realising we have a 3ph supply to the property - even though only one is used so should make zero difference to them.

It's getting old now - especially as they massively over-estimate our usage (like by double) every month until we submit actual readings.

Found out today that Spain, where I live, has changed the law to be inline with an EU directive.

Nothing to get grumpy about then as that is normal. Well this one is. Now a seller of any second-hand vehicle within the EU has to give a guarantee. Two years if it is sold by a dealer and one year if sold by a private person. This one year can be reduced to 6 months if it is agreed by both parties. This must be written  in the sellers bill of sale.

How can a private person give any guarantee?

Second-hand parts for cars will also have to be supplied with a guarantee.

New cars now have to come with a minimum of 3 years and parts must be available for 10 years after the end of production. What it does not say is how much one can charge for parts. No doubt some parts will end up being worth more than the car.

How is that   (private seller private buyer anywhere in EU)   going to work in any way ?

They seem completely clueless.  Same every month. They underestimate gas usage by about 5%, but electricity usage is always twice the actual usage or more.  Even in the summer when our electricity usage *does* go through the roof, they still over-estimate it.

Maybe Boris was right, @SRi05 had a lucky escape there, my clutch only lasted 10 months.

I don't know of any other countries within the EU having such rules, isn't this just Spain interpreting this directive too strictly?

Ordered oil and filter from ebay for the vectra on 8th. Filter came last Friday. Oil? Seller states courier has lost it. I have asked for a refund rather than a replacement as I am not getting pissed around again. My fault for not checking feedback - seller has 98.5% positive feedback which is good but most negative and neutral relates to stuff not being delivered.

From now on I will use my local factor - may be more expensive and will necessitate a trip out but so be it.
