Cookiesouwest
I am a genius* head unit installer. When I bought my CRV it had a hole in the dash, where the satnav / cd / radio should be. Last owner left me a new android unit in the boot. Nice of them, but it needs to be wired in (no iso connector loom for that unit). As I am no auto electrician, I swerved that job and bought a double din unit, from the for sale section of this fine forum. Did some research, bought the correct fitting kit. Except it wasn't the correct kit - thanks Halfrauds. So then bought a stock unit from a member of the Honda CRV club. No fitting kit required. Plug and play. It fitted. No surprise. CD worked. Sat Nav worked. Radio didn't. Realised car had no aerial. Bought an aftermarket one. Still didn't work. Swapped aerials with Mrs CSW. Still didn't work. Started planning to remove headlining to check earth at base of aerial. Removed head unit for final check. Hadn't connected the aerial lead Radio now fully functional. Cookiesouwest
Who needs a diesel. Had to pop to Minehead this morning, to sort something for parents. Took Mrs CSW CRV, cause weirdly I prefer it to mine. 2.0 petrol manual. Many MPGs Did leave at 7am mind. Hardly any traffic. If I'd left at 9am, it would have done 29mpg if last trip down here is a guide. Amazing what mpgees you get, when you are just rolling along. Will be interesting to see what it does on way back. andyberg

I loved my Zafira diesel 2.0 dti, but won't be having another diesel for daily duties. Current 6k ish a year does not justify it. Was doing 16k when I had the Zafira. Cookiesouwest
So what did it do on the way home? Very surprised. Bit more traffic and was crawling for 15 mins on way into Street, due to roadworks.
Cookiesouwest
My Honda (Rhonda) - For the last week O/S/F tyre has been losing 5 psi a day. Took her to the local tyre place today, expecting a puncture. No puncture. Alloy is deteriorating and bead was not sealing. They cleaned up the rim and got it to seal. I need to budget for alloy refurb x 4, as the others don't look that far behind the leaky one. As a wonderful bonus, the fitter noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the N/S/R, so she is going in Tuesday for a new Kormoran. Somewhat disappointed as the tyre was new in January! Audrey - the repaired cluster arrived this morning (amazing service, I only posted it Thursday !). Looking forward to seeing a working IPK tomorrow. He also replaced the broken trip button for free Her battery is flat - not sure if its due to being sat around for long periods or its knackered (was new in January, when she was delivered from Montytom). I don't have a charger and in a fit of generosity, I went out and bought her a Bosch S4. Mrs CSW - its her birthday Sunday week. She has wanted a beetle (Golf mk4 in a frock), ever since they came out. As I am a crap husband with no imagination, I don't know what to get her, so I've been looking at local sub 1k beetles. Did VW build rust in to them?. Not found a single example locally that has not had advisories or fails for rust!
Cookiesouwest
Audrey has had her cluster fitted with new IPK and her new battery. So took her for a drive. She's filthy, but I'm too scared to wash her, in case she leaks lol Still has slightly shaking steering wheel, warped front discs and a clonk fron n/s/f, plus many squeaks and rattles from loose or missing trim ( well its not missing, its just located in the boot). But despite all that she is lovely and relaxing to drive HMC, Leyland Worldmaster, andyberg and 2 others

Cookiesouwest
Picked up Audrey from @andyberg last night, as he kindly looked after her while I was on holibobs. While in his care, he kindly reattached some of the interior trim (handbrake gaiter, headlight switch surround), fixed the clock. So today I thought I should continue his good work and sort the knackered cup holder. Which as you can see, is permantley in the 'ready to receive a cup' position. As it won't stay in the 'I don't want to hold a cup' position. Screwdriver of the skinny variety inserted to lift the tab. The unit slides out New unit, which works Inserted into dash and hey presto, the cup holder stays hidden. Cookiesouwest
While rummaging through a cupboard, found a couple more small bits I had ordered for Audrey. A door pin surround and a brake pedal rubber. As its not raining at the mo, decided to go fit them. The naked door pin. The new door pin Fitted What I did not realise, was it only fits one way, if you want the door to actually lock ! Bit of fiddling and now the door works The worn brake rubber. The new brake rubber Three tiny and frankly unimportant bits done to the car today, but has made me feel more positive. rainagain, High Jetter, eddyramrod and 4 others

Cookiesouwest
Took Audrey for a drive and got airbag warning light. I moved the seat the last time I drove her. Usually its the connectors under the seat, but hers were removed and she was hard wired, when she was being prepped for MOT. Will need another trip to specialist for T4 diagnostic. Its lovely having a working IPK though and Rick Bhullar has enabled the IPK speedo function On the plus side, I did manage to reattach interior door handle surround on drivers door. It is damaged but hopefully will stay on till I get a replacement.

As a previous owner of this car your first port of call should be to check the drivers footwell for water and a drowned side impact sensor for the airbag light. I thought I resolved the leaks and cleared the airbag light only for Audrey to kick me in the nuts when it reappeared and the water came back. Cookiesouwest
Well, an unexpected quite lucky / potentially ruinous (you decide) purchase has occurred. Monday night, Mrs CSW gets home from work and asks if I want a free car. For those who remember, Audrey was also free, so obviously I said yes. Even though I know, free cars can kill your bank balance - Audrey is 1800 quid and counting. Her boss had a mondy mk4, that had issues, had had enough, bought a replacement and wanted shot of it. I have just been to view, test drive and exchange paperwork 59 plate, 2.0 tdci auto, Saloon, 11 days MOT left, 104k on clock. No radio code so ICE not available, knackered rad fan control module, possibly knackered battery due to fan running when parked up. One key. I did give him some cash for it, as I felt bad. But it was less than scrap. MOT booked for Monday. New rad fan module arriving Friday. Will worry about battery tomorrow. As a bonus, I discovered full Ford Service History in glovebox. Last serviced in July. Have some pics of another potential millstone / great buy (you decide). With another incoming motor in next couple of weeks, my efforts at fleet reduction have been less than stellar. I think Honda CRV will have to go and probably Audrey too or I flip the Mundano. Except I like it so far. Will ponder for a week or two. BertiePuntoCabrio, LightBulbFun, Eyersey1234 and 9 others

Just different. The auto box in the mundano is smoother than Audrey. Weirdly feels faster, even though its 20bhp less than Audrey. Audrey has better looking interior and makes me feel calmer. Audrey is easier to park. Cant see end of bonnet on Mundano and can't see the boot at all in the rear view mirror. I'm well over fleet allocation, with another arriving in about a week. Will be very very screwed if I also win one of 3 roffles I'm in!
