Clubman Estate or long gearlever with starter button. Elves and Hornets if you must but everything else is fake

I probably could push to have a Clubman as it's still a mini but I don't know if I would want a Riley or Wolseley. Has to be a proper mini with plenty of factory chrome garnish.

Yes they're "boringly" unoriginal and clique classic car, but I'm realising that's the type of classic car I most enjoy. Especially as I'm coming to terms with the fact that I like pre-80s British cars the most. Especially from the BMC and later BL factories. In particular the 60s to 70s era sports cars (BGT, Spitfire, Midget, Sprint, etc) or regular porridge like Minis/1100/Minors/etc. SU carbs with a Lucas dizzy and a rattly OHV lump.

Yes they're crap on paper but they are the cars that make me smile when I'm driving them. As often said, making you smile is what the best driving experience is all about.

Bloody nora.  I can't actually believe it.  An actual, genuine, barn find.  In an actual barn.

Are you in need of some automotive consultation? Step this way please sir...

There's talk of it needing a full restoration which has me worried, so please step up now.  Do we know anyone in the Wisbech area with a fondness of 1060s Blarg tat?  DM me and make my phone @BeEPif so.

Do we know if the strap is there to hold the doors on, or the floor up?

This looks rather smashing.  V6 manual from elderly owner (quelle surprise) in 1950s suburbia.

Image 1 - Rover 75 connoisseur v6 2.0ltr SE 1 owner from new

Not as cheap as they once were, but this looks basically new

Image 2 - Rover 75 connoisseur v6 2.0ltr SE 1 owner from new

Quick dye to the steering wheel and you're off and running.  Would look lovely with the aubergine personal line interior to compliment the damson paintwork (you could even get aubergine cloth which was delightful)

Image 9 - Rover 75 connoisseur v6 2.0ltr SE 1 owner from new

I know plenty of folk love buying the cheapest car possible and revelling in the smugness of cheap entry, but this - for the long term - has to be a fantastic prospect.

I've decided/convinced myself the next classic I buy has to be a Mini. This may or may not be because of all the mini chatter on here recently...

I've figured that they're expensive but at the same time still not ludicrously expensive. Prices are all over the place for them too. I really would like a pre-80s on skinny wheels and certainly no plastic arch extensions. Likewise it has to be a full runner and not a project. I've got far too many of them!

This in particular would be lovely to own, especially as it has many of the original Issigonsis quirks. I wonder what he'd class as a sensible offer...

Of course what I'll probably end up doing in practice is buying a post-80s example with shit paint and metal weak enough that a finger will poke through. But of course I'd have got it "cheap" 😆

You can convert a later car to have an earlier look.  The main difficulties will be the smaller rear window and external door handles, but you can get smaller front discs and calipers to make 10 inch wheels a practical possibility.  And smaller rear lights and an early bootlid are not a problem.

Obviously suitable trim is obtainable, although deckchair fabric may not be.

Personally, I always wanted* to build a bitsa.  It would be a hornet front end, metro turbo engine with 5 speed straight cut gearbox, external door handles, BRM arches, 13 inch mg metro turdo wheels, and a pickup back end.

*but I'm never going to because....a) CBA. And b) CBA...squared.

Check out this rare beauty.  Off the road since Methuselah’s mum was in pigtails, but well worthy of the @4wheeledstool treatment.

Price is a touch optimistic, seller only has 4 feedback and  “just needs TLC to finish” is obviously bollocks, but then there’s this:

Have we had this Riley yet? What a gorgeous old girl. Want!

Someone please buy it. The suggestions on the listing that it 'would make a good special' make my stomach churn...

£2295 sale price. I do hope someone on here bought it 🤘

This reminds me of @DoctorRetro (think it was him) and the unfortunately-timed bid on an automatic Rover....

The original eBay link above shows "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing"

But, it is still available here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/citroen-2cv-car-ami-8-bedouin-africar/333955429375?hash=item4dc14b73ff:g:Ol0AAOSwW8RgcyJZ

Showing as "£5,000 no offers", and no reason for second listing.

I like it, and remember a TV program about the Africar the story and philosophy behind it.

All mockery aside, this does look rather jolly for shooting trips on the estate and whatnot
