I do hope the brakes have been upgraded. Polo brakes for that generation were adequate at best.....

I concur - used to have a saloon Polo of that generation. Pressing the brake pedal felt more like a suggestion that the car should maybe consider slowing down, rather than a direct control. :D

If the seller hasn't bothered amending the V5 document to reflect his engine change, then he probably hasn't bothered with the braking system either.

Pay £1650 for a possible death trap. WCPGW?

No progress from the poor brakes on my first car - a Mk1 Golf - from 15 years earlier then.

Mk2F brakes were a significant improvement on Mk2s.

That's not my cousin's experience when he bought a brand-new 2f.

Is it resting on an axle stand?

I think it's a 'kerb feeler'...

Interesting device, hadn't come across those before...

I had a couple of these. The issue was always that the drive from the gearbox to transfer box was through a woefully under engineered shaft. The splines on this shaft would strip and it was game over. This wrote most BX 4x4s off prematurely. I considered various options for a fix but once the few useable spares dried up you really only had the choice of reverting to 2wd.

Lupo 14" steels...

seller's wrong, they're off a Golf G60 or a Passat. Dubbers fit them to Lupos a lot though.
