If you look at mine through Stevie Wonders glasses , through binoculars the wrong way round at night whilst squinting I suppose it does look a bit similar ....

I have this 1988 Range Rover 3.5 EFi to dispose of.

It was taken off the road by a friend because the body needed loads of welding. I have had it 5 years taken the engine and gearbox from it for my other Range Rover Classic and another friend has taken a fair number of smaller parts.

Do you need anything from it?

Does anybody want it whole?

Do you just want some fun stripping it?

Low insulting offers are fine as you will have to come and take any bits off yourself.

I need to make space as my dead CX is coming to take its place for repair.

Anyone got an Autoshite beige front passenger side speaker cover for an E46? Whilst refitting the door card today I miss aimed and punched the fucker clean through. It was quite comical really but could do with a new one.

***NOW SOLD***

Autophix OBDMate code reader. Used a handful of times, still in original packaging with instruction manual. OM123 model. Will talk to most post 1996 cars and give you ALL THE ERRORS that you secretly hoped weren't there. Can clear them too.

These are on Amazon for £35-£40 currently so say £20 posted? I've replaced it with a DS150e knockoff which is more detailed in its diagnostics but less portable. This is powered from the OBD port so you can use it ANYWHERE as long as your battery isn't 100% dead.

I seem to have acquired the Autoshite Rover Cabriolet... the grey one with the red seats...

Making a little list of bits needed if anyone frequents breakers and finds these sort of things. It's not a long list!

First up, though, is sunvisors, as the driver's side one is missing the mirror.

I'm also looking for better seats, I think - may fall on the side of putting a leather interior in it (or actually buying another one and selling this one!) - there's something weird about that velour fabric plus Rover's foam, and the seats are just... odd. They feel like the foam has turned into that oasis stuff florists use, and though it doesn't really stay put when you poke it - surely they weren't supposed to feel like this?

There's also a contagion of yellow powder falling out of the cover for the folded roof.

Kudos for Rover thinking of the environment when they specified biodegradable foams...

In other news, what a nice little car that I can't think of any good reason to be as unpopular as they seem to be. I got it because I can't afford a Mk 1 Golf Cabriolet anymore.

Congrats - I miss that car dearly :(

Love the red seats though even if they are fucked

That yellow shit is a huge PITA!

Well, y'all can always buy it back - I've got my eye on one locally in a colour more to my taste - though I suspect it cost me a bit more than you sold it for (and has a lot of MoT); after driving this one and having poked it properly I think I'm prepared to spend more on a leather model with cleaner trim, as all the qualities I wanted from a small '1980s' cabriolet; roll bars, slim pillars, narrow body, slim doors, actually feeling open with the roof down - all that is perfect. Plus two things the Golf never had - decent bootspace and a refined engine/gearbox. Oh, and decent brakes.

It seems fundamentally solid, at least, and drives nicely. Roof is happy with a bit of tweaking and refitting cant rail seals as correctly as I can (they're NLA so must be protected); two generic spare keys made so risk of locking in boot is reduced, and ordered two genuine Rover blanks from Rimmers... CD changer works, too, which made me very happy!

I still don’t have storage that would do it justice but if you do end up sitting on it for a bit I’d definitely be interested

Have the dodgy CV boots etc been replaced or was the tester just a bit more lenient / incentivised than mine?

Things I am likely to do:

Change gearbox oil

Tidy some interior bits (it's not bad, really - only broken bits I have found so far are the recline on the passenger side, which needs a spring clip in the knob, and the aforementioned sunvisor)

Keep an eye out for a cheap new radiator, as there's a venting/coolant smell I want to trace - no signs of leaks so I suspect pinholes - lots of room to work.

Replace pressure cap (standard).

Investigate rear demister blower as I can't tell if it works.

Stock up on cheap NOS spares from Rimmers...

Stick some kurust on the little bits.

Things I can't do: Fix the little dents :(

I know there are a few Clio lickers on here so will give this a shot.

Am after some standard 182ff or cup springs, so I can put the suspension back to standard. They should have a red and white mark on them.

Already got one lowered car on the drive, don't need another.

Would anyone like a genuine Breitling clock?

Ok, this is a bit random. But I have a Bentley Continental Breitling clock. If you got a random bit of pallet wood and a couple of Poundland AAA batteries this could be an interesting timepiece to show off to your family and friends.

Or sellotape it to the dash of a Mazda 122, I dont know.

Couple of issues, I don’t know if it works and I’d need about £50 for it... or maybe swap for something stupid.

This needs a leather strap bodging onto it and a photo posting on the Pistonheads watch section

I'd dearly love to put this in its own thread, just for prominence, but I don't want to get banhammered.

All told, I probably need to either

A) Buy a MK1 Sierra to break

2) Recruit all of you to look out for nearside panels

D) Accept that I will never get it to a level of 'presentable' I'm happy with and move on.

I have never wanted it to look mint, and I'm only too aware that there are factions who want the car to stay just as it is.  But I do want doors with metal in, sans dents, that lift the car to the standard of the other side.  If I can't get it to that place this year, I fear it'll just get me down.

Any help appreciated.

Daniel.

Are good used ones ok? Knowing nothing are they specific to the early base or can later / higher spec ones be downgraded?

Are the inner structures of the door decent? If so may be worth getting in touch with these if all else fails, they list door skins as well as quarter panels

Tat for sale, genuine tat for sale.

The RAC book is in a decent condition.

Aerite tyre pressure, thing.

I don’t know what those two idiots in the Escort Accessories are doing.

*bonus fact, the Alfa contains passport photos of the man who owned it.

I don’t know if this is against the rules, but regarding pricing I can’t be bothered to trawl ebay. If people just wanna make offers?

Hello all,

Have scoured EBay which has not turned up much at all......

I am in need of a drivers side driveshaft - part number is 43410-05490 which was superseded by 43410-05491 (both fit obviously)

This is not so much a wanted ad (well it is....kinda)......but asking if anyone has dealt with or knows of a reputable firm that would be able to provide me with one. I would consider a second hand part however (price dependent) reason being is I am just trying to keep the car on the road for another year with minimal costs.... The car shakes quite violently between 50-60 mph only when accelerating. Investigated and play in inside joint of driveshaft....The roads in South West London are horrendous and the snow that we did have has now opened up so many potholes...I have driven it for about 2.5 months like this and lived with it but would make slapping up and down the motorway a lot less butt-clenching.

Thanks all!

Which car?

EDIT:  Looked up the number.  Avensis T27 2.2 D4D?

Yes thats it.
