This made the drive to Weston Park worthwhile yesterday:

That Pisshat's nice apart from the wheels. My grin is the new series of the Gadget Show that started tonight - the utterly gorgeous Pollyanna Woodward has been joined by the equally utterly gorgeous Rachel Riley  I know Rachel has her fans round here but I've always had a thing for Polly. Hell, I can't decide between them, it'll have to be a threesome :D

New laptop at work, with a better new one on the way in 4 weeks apparently, 3 cups of coffee already, the XM is holding water again *for now*.

Will ignore the few drips of petrol coming from under the engine this morning, it didn't happen lalalalalalalalala etc

Briefly home from festival merriment but this video is making me grin.

BMW-powered 2CV pwning some nice motors at Mallory Park. This is the chap who's currently servicing my fleet and who owns that fabulous Ami 6 I borrowed.

That 2CV was in action at Prescott Hillclimb at the weekend. I've reason to believe the suspension might be a little stiffer than standard...

It got up the hill in 55.1 seconds before frying its clutch. Class record is 54.4 apparently, but I've no idea what class that is! For comparison, a tweaked Mk2 Jag managed the same time at last year's event. That's astonishing for a tin snail!

Is it running a BMW bike or car engine?

Bike engine - the BMW boxer twin can be fitted comparatively easily.

The suspension is allegedly standard... I find this hard to believe!

I don't think I've ever met someone who's admitted to being a middle lane hog. It really has got people awfully excited this morning though. My prediction is that we'll see absolutely no change, and no Police policing the new rules anyway.

Posted

We should police it ourselves then. I always beep the horn and point at the inside lane when some knob warbler is hogging the middle one.

I have become a specialist at the three lane overtake manoevre, crossing from the inside lane, through the middle lane, into the outside lane to pass and then back across the middle lane back to the left hand side of the road. Most of these cocks still don't get it even when you do that.

Oh, and driving behind them flashing the lights until they get the point.

I find tailgaters are discouraged by a few rapid "on and off"application of your rear foglights..................

Yesterday and some of today, I got to use this whilst some remedial work is carried out on the KV6 Sterling:

Its a Rover 45 TD Connoisseur. What a great car to drive, I really enjoyed driving it, its one of Steve's cars. Its like a little Rover 75. I really didn't want to give it back. I will be picking it up again tomorrow evening after work as the KV6 still has the CV joint noise.

NU FORUM YAY! thanks Dave and everyone involved!

Not as much of a fan of the 400 series (compared to 25 and 75) but that does look a treat, Mo.

I'm happy as I reckon I can buy a £1500 bike later this year, get a decent discount AND keep it secret from the bread knife.

I can just imagine those drivers thinking "what's up with this bag of shite" as the dolly flew past them :D

NEW WHEELS TODAY

Co-owned with Garycox. It's great! Can't wait to actually use it properly. It feels like a 2013 Mercedes or summat compared to the Standard. I think this is about as Shite as it gets, right?

A beige Allegro is pretty far up there in the shite stakes I'll grant you - especially one with a fucking great dent in the door.  I do like a decent Aggro - and for the money I don't think you'll go too far wrong with that one.

Mobile-friendly Autoshite is awesome. That's even less reason to get out of bed this morning :)

Please tell me that you get an engine in the bike for £1500?

Only my legs.

Barrett/Gary: That's fabulous, nice work.

Giving trusted peers the keys to the Princess so they can have a drive and seeing that it makes them just as happy as it makes me.  My brother had a drive in the Princess today, the last time he drove it being shortly after I'd bought it and everything was rubbish.  He was impressed with the improvements, less so with the wide gate gearbox and even less than that with the wing mirrors which do, admittedly, take some getting used to as they are both small and far away.  Overall though, the grin factor was enough to ignore these niggles and the statement of "I think I could live with this every day" reassured me that it's a perfectly sensible car to use as a daily.

Siiik! As my Sterlings problems are still apparent, its gone back, yet again to Steve and I have use of the Rover 45 again until Monday! Ill also be helping him shift a load of cars tomorrow. Alsi, I will be making a thread and listing a load of stuff for sale when I've got a bit more time, including a Lada Niva 4x4 convertible with a spare Niva Cossack and spares for around £1200.

Nice Allegro Barrett. Yo, any bits you need for it, do let me know, I think Steve has plenty of Allegro spares.

Today I discovered a powder-blue 1950 Riley drophead coupe, less than half a mile from the house I've been living in for the past 2 years. It's achingly beautiful and my underwear was in a bad way when I returned home. The guy's owned it for over 40 years and restored it twice (it originally cost him £25) and it's in that perfect state that's almost immaculate, but used-looking enough to not be a trailer queen. I suspect it might be a coachbuilt 'special' as the back end seems more stretched than normal, but I didn't get a chance to ask him too many questions.

I left my previous job driving coaches at the start of May to take a chance for more money and better hours elsewhere... it was only a four week trial though which was a bit worrying but I took the chance anyway.

My four week trial was up on Tuesday... and I've been kept on 8)

Really over the moon. Most problems are now solved 8)
