I know someone who did their bike test with the instructor following in a car. First thing he did out of the test centre was filter down a busy dual carriageway & got out of sight of the instructor. If he can't see you make a mistake you can't fail.... worked too

I knew a guy that used to be a Magician , part of his act involved his wife who was tattooed with a full deck of cards, all 52

Same on my bike test, I just got a few instructions then a wait by the side of the road and then the same again. I passed.

second instructor she really liked, when she booked the test the instructor gave her a list of times and dates to avoid because at certain times of day on the test route various groups empty out, slimming world etc , it's detail like that you want in an instructor

My instructor was ace. I booked 2 hour lessons, and afterwards, he lived in Slough and a friend lived in Maidenhead, so we would finish the lesson in Wycombe, then he would snap out of instructor mode and let me just drive to Maidenhead, chipping in where needed.

Took the van out for a run this afternoon. Okay...run is a bit of an exaggeration. A gentle amble.

 

Still put a silly grin on my face as I trundled along at 50 ish, bouncing gently over the road surface that tends to shake fillings out of your teeth in modern cars.

 

She's slow, noisy, rusty and handles like a bowl of jelly...but I can't help but smile when driving this thing.

 

...was originally thinking I'd get a year or two out of it before the repairs to the cab became necessary as they'll likely cost a fortune (windscreen and dash out at least), but now can see me just saying "sod common sense" and getting it done.

 

 

This is almost everything I missed about driving buses, but at a slightly more manageable size.

I have been to quite a few concerts - but tonight I was seeing somebody who is truly gifted. He did 2 hours 35 minutes with no interval.

 

There sre a generation of musicians who sadly are coming to the end - we will not see their like again.

2008 c5 1.6hdi estate from auction with a horrendous vibration / misfire .

Naturally it was cheep like the budgie and looks stunning in black with the privacy glass .

I hated the early c5 but reckon the later ones are stunning looking as an estate car .

I do like that era of c5, I was tempted by one at auction years back but it went over what I had available.

 

I had a phase 1, which I sold at 100k, which according to the mot history is still going and has never had even an advisory 10 years and 120k more.

I think we will , you just have to veer away from mainstream music , I saw Alex Cornish live a few months back , one man band , during his 2hr set he played keyboard,guitar and violin without missing a note , writes all his own songs just never made it to the big time but from my point of view it's great because £10 gets me into an intimate venue to see an artist I really like with 100 or so other people

I'm really sad that you feel that way. There are loads of talented young musicians and bands around - perhaps not in the mainstream though. Go to some folk festivals (I'm doing Wickham and Cropredy this year) and you're bound to find something good.

I agree with Bren on Paul Simon, he has been a joy to have on the music scene, but imo there are lots of properly talented young musicians on the small clubs and festival scene. Not all of them want to hit the big time in the traditional sense - they can keep control of their lives and their art by engaging with smaller audiences, at smaller venues, and through smaller distribution companies. Their output is no less fantastic for it. Spiros Abatis, Mk1 Soundsystem, Dan Gascoigne, Cats Charis, Luna and the Moonhounds, Fangtrouser, Si Hayden, Nick Harper. There are so many quietly* getting on with playing the shit out of their instruments.

Been in touch with my 305 parts dealer, the infamous, Despair and Tired ,about the strut top.

With luck they could be sorted next week.

Don't like advisories. A bit OCD.

She finally dumped him this evening. He showed up at her work when she finished but wouldn't walk with her to the bus stop as he 'had to go home on the train'. Bloody train station after the sodding bus stop she uses! Mrs D went to pick her up as teary and angry. She was ranty at first but is now really chilled and actually spent the evening with us both in the lounge watching the footy and the repeated crap on Dave.

 

Turns out Madam has been dating 2 girls and another boy which neither Mrs D nor myself knew about over the last couple of weeks, which obviously told her it was over between her and the Nancy boy. Fair play, she's now almost an adult, and as such finding out who she is and who/what makes her happy (As long as we don't have to buy a pram in 9 months time for her)
