5 hours into the working day and have stopped for a nice cuppa.

My caravan still smells of bacon from breakfast which is nice too.

From the window I can see a Muntjac deer foraging in the woods and a blackbird at the feeder.

Pleased to see good results from the rolling road today on an engine we built. High intake temperatures off the supercharger were causing big losses so a water/methanol kit was added as fitting an intercooler or charge cooler would be difficult. Engine is from a 90's Mustang GT 5ltr V8 EFI with a Ford Motorsport supercharger kit.

Had to visit the grandparents today and time my visit with the man from Sky coming

long story short, the ancient sky + box they had has finally croaked it after 15 years of constant use (they’ve worn the remote through the plastic which is impressive) and it had hard drive failure

anyway, got upgraded to sky Q today

young lad around my age turns up to do it, here we go had to put a new dish up etc

i must admit he’s done a cracking job of it, really tidy!

then had to show them through sky Q and how to use it

me expecting it to be crap

i was surprised, it’s actually from what I can see is very good

menus make perfect sense, nice and quick and the ability to record 5 at once is good

they also went for the multi room, wireless these days using the broadband system

so yes, my grin for the day is being impressed by modern technology

you never know, if my financial situation ever improves I’d quite like it myself

I suppose I should post in here, I've been keeping it under my hat for a few days now.

I'll be in work again from Monday. As a service adviser at a wee local Renault / Dacia franchise. The commute is 15 miles of quiet back roads too. I live in the middle of nowhere, and the garage is in a wee village also in the middle of nowhere.

I'll definitely be poking around the Dacia Springs they have sitting around.

@maxxohave you considered working for Sky as an installer? Admittedly it was a few years back when I looked at it but it seemed a decent salary with comprehensive training for the role.  Wouldn't it fit your skill set?

Slight grump, out of all that adults there I was only one that found it amusing.

when the Lolvo disgraced itself last week with a loose fuel filter hose, I did a bit of cable tie engineering

this got me home

and this is the proper* fix

buoyed by my success, I ran the codes

ok, fuel pressure is sorted, the oil level has been there for ever and isn't an issue, the dipstick tells me its all good.

but what about that swirl flap thingy ?

a bit of googling pointed me towards a common failure of the link rod between the stepper motor and the flaps

popping the bonnet proved this to be the problem so I ordered the cheapest one on ebay

you can see where it failed

a pleasingly simple job to do

even if it was pitch dark at 5pm

IMG_9822.thumb.jpeg.eecbc8602ee6cf66287f6850e7f0de84.jpeg

all sorted, time for a test drive

and its running beautifully - a quick hoon up and down the A1 showed that I hadn't noticed i'd been missing a fair bit of performance - quick car :)

all we need to do now is clear those codes

Fuck sake !

Does anyone else remember those fantastic summers, just dialing 0482 to speak to someone at a furniture shop in Hull about a surfer? Then the fun we had dialing 0903 when ringing to see when the swimming pool in Worthing was open on a Sunday. Mad wasn't it.

Sadly those days are long gone and all went with the introduction of the 1 and we're where we are now.

Furniture villiage in Hull have a 1 in their area code and their chairs are fucking shit. Even worse Worthing aquarena isn't even there anymore. It was before the 1s were introduced, what does that tell you?

But we'll always have the memories.

Slightly confused about the Asians on the course. This is week two. Week one they pretty much all turned up 30 - 45 minutes late. This week 5 of them didn't come back. One who did return just left his bench with tools and sneaked off after 20 minutes while the teacher was demonstrating.

Why sign up if you don't want to learn? You're taking places from people who do want to go, and wasting your money.

Nice curves! I'd have to practise to get decent endfeed joints, I usually chicken out and use Yorkshires. Gets pricey on bigger stuff though...

Coffee break with beans bought back from Nicaragua and gifted by a mate. Looking for to this as had run out of ground and lent the grinder to another mate.

Found a suitable appliance in the house i'm working in.

Happy days :-)
Got a list of advisories to sort out (mostly crispy suspension bushes/bits) once we get some decent weather and I can find some time - where does it go to?

It was possibly me.

But knowing early visa speedos it is probably just broken. You would have to try really hard to get one to 100mph plus (unless it happens to be a mille piste or chrono or something)

I have just realised that today 24th January is the 30th anniversary that I passed my driving test. :common007:

Already had my first car - vermillion '79 Mini 1000. It was weird driving to work later that day without a passenger.
