Oil light came on on the Galaxy. Topped it up (though level seemed ok) and it went off, then came on again. Got a new oil pressure switch and fitted it today. Guess what? Minute or two running and the light is back on.

Trying everything I can to 'save' this car as it's been genuinely fantastic, but it's as if it just doesn't want to continue in use. I'll get my mate at the garage to have a look at it, he reckons (last time he saw it) there were no show stoppers to it getting another MOT as it's due soon. Possibly keep it for local runs/picking up shit motorbikes/scooters, or just as a garage door blocker.

I have been procrastinating about taking the head off the Princess so was delighted to find another fence panel had collapsed and was irrepairable.  I've never made a fence before.  The neighbour that shares said fence had some 'bits of wood' in her garage that just happened to be exactly the right sizes and amounts for me to knock this panel up.  I'm not going to be going pro any time soon, but I was quite pleased with myself for managing to build this with no real idea of what I was actually doing.   It's really just for privacy since without this panel her garden is very exposed.  Used a finger to set the gap between the planks so the wind will hopefully go through it rather than trying to blow it down and since this is only a temporary thing while we finish saving up to have the section of fence done properly we didn't bother with any additional finishes.  In the same wood pile this lot came from there's a beautiful length of what looks like sapele wood, formerly a bannister rail and about 7' long.  I'd like to rescue it, and to offer her some money for it since she seemed keen to get rid of the wood in the garage, but I've no idea what a fair offer would be on something like that.

@vulgalour Your fence-bodgery is miles better than my sorry effort earlier this year. Nice job

Great work. I had to 'drop in' a 6 foot fence panel back in Feb, between concrete posts - almost killed me and my dad until a neighbour came round.

Next time two 3 foot efforts combined I think!

Concrete slotted is the way to go, fencing timber and preservatives are so shit nowadays and of course nobody uses their old engine oil anymore do they 🤔🙄😉

No photo as no phone but there was a lovely lancia outside work today. Two door convertible - 1950s probably. Maroon with tan leather. New Mercedes turned up with chauffeur and the delighted new owner of the lancia arrived ( 80ish trousers too short and tatty suit jacket). After a while looking over the lancia with the warehouse /car guy he rummaged in his trouser pocket and pulled out two £50 notes to give him as a tip. Drove off in it whilst on Swiss numberplate ( rear only, non on the front) following the chauffeur. I was outside washing my bicycle - it was good theatre!

I don’t know if it is a grumpy or a grin but it appears that 3 months after posting it off (I had to because it was an old blue V5C so the reference number wouldn’t work for the online service) the shitty DVLA finally have sorted me out with a logbook for my GS.

It so happens that it is still in bits in my garage (although 80% of the welding is now done, sorry I’m shit at doing threads and taking photos) but if this wasn’t the case I would have been very very cross.

I passed my driving test on this day 25 years ago. The first car I drove after passing was my parents' 1988 Ford Fiesta Festival 2, which looked a lot a like this one:

Nice car, shame about the rust...

I'm going to celebrate the milestone by not driving anywhere today

I recall an E reg pool car at the haulage company I worked for was pretty ripe by 1995, E920 JST. It did last until 2000 but it was absolutely rotten everywhere by 1997. Replacement wings, pattern arches and boot floor welded over the originals, Hadrian cover sills, front crossmember inadequately reattached, a cataloyed and leaking scuttle, even the main chassis rails were patched. Brakes were non existent and the engine bounced around when changing from 1st to 2nd due to the crossmember. It was a great car though and never FTP'd!

Had a 93 Vector Sport 1.9 TDI - did 100 - 200 miles a day in it for about a year racking up 23k with very little fuss. Comfy, very nippy and never less than 51MPG on the motorway.

Manual though - so the dreaded DMF rattled since I got it until the day I sold it. Was a reliable steed. Good luck with yours!

And so the conveyer belt of MOTs begins....

Streetwise booked in with a (new to me) local indie for Thursday -  explained the CV outer boots will need doing as likely to fail, so he agreed to test first, then do the work plus anything else after. Not that I'm expecting 'anything else' - the car has done 1700 miles in 18 months, barely been used, and the two advisories I could sort out (brake discs and tyres) have been done. Told him there's no mad rush to get the work done, as long as it gets done in time for a free retest. Very popular place by the looks of it. Recommended as one of the owners is married to a former boss of mine at the Housing Association, and I'd rather throw money at an indie than my usual go to chain, F1 Autocentres.

Next up is the Accord coupe, just waiting on an unobtainium replacement caliper slider pin to arrive, hopefully tomorrow, to stop the squeaking caliper. Will get that one booked in early next week.

Then the 620 a fortnight after - gonna chance my arm with that one and just throw it in.

A month later it's the turn of the 420 - this one may prove trickier, and may need me to take it up to Rover Revival beforehand to look at the rear trailing arm bushes.

January, and it's the turn of the van, and the ungrateful bastard.

Got some OEM mud guards off the bay for the i10, as noted earlier, deleted from dealer inventory already! No fixings, but I'm hoping they will mostly use the existing wheel liner screws apart from the odd one on the side.

Just got back from spending time with @Saabnut and sorting the Roller door out. Turned out to be more

a case of repositioning hinges and a few other bits. I didn't take any pics because, lets be honest, hinges are

not terribly interesting. Anyway here is a gratuitous pic. Look at the front on that. Phwoar !!!!!

I am as jealous as a very green thing. Proper chariot.

PS. I am now a vintage Rolls Royce door technician so if anyone knows of someone who needs this service

you know where I am. Straight on the CV with this one. Next year I will be a millionaire not much better off

than I am now.

A good friend of mine bought a mk 2 Clio Phase 1 1.6 16V recently. Cool car overall, but God do I love the wheels on it. One of my favourite designs on any car, ever.

How come I didn't know until today, thanks to Matthew Hayward of Octane magazine, that the Alfa 90 could be spec'd with a built in suitcase!?

There are 9 SORN'd Alfa 90's - none on the road - ok who's got 'em all?

This is one of them

Looked at car. Car is good. Seller wants to let the eBay auction run to its end even though I managed to get him to admit how much he wanted for it, which is annoying, so looks like it's a waiting game.

Since I have cleverly deduced what it is (by you telling me what it is), I'm wondering what your reaction would be if you got outbid and then I turned up in it at the next Northern Powerhouse. Almost worth buying it for that alone!

Please don't do that...

A nice segue from @Borsuqahead, Ive also been indulging in Clio trimz porn.

IMHO much more Frencherer. And it’s what my old one had so makes me even more nostalgic.

Entirely correct 2CR FM and Fat Willy’s sticker also added for more scene points.
