Leboncoin has introduced an electronic payment service (hello, France, yes 2018 it is) in certain categories - but doubt it includes cars...

Apparently if you contact them via Minitel they'll fax you an online payment form to sign and post back...

(Which is basically how Translink operates their Enterprise rail service to Dublin, which boasts a 'web saver' fare - entailing them posting you out some tickets which take over a week to arrive...)

405 is on the naughty step.

Looks like it's time to press the 19 into service.

What a pair.

What's up with your 405?

Air is still getting into the fuel and causing random FTP's. Yesterdays was in the middle of the roundabout for Jcn 30 of the M5. Cue hazards and furious cranking until the air could be pumped through.

My latest theory is that the leak off pipes may be perished (they don't look great to be fair) so ebay is supplying some replacements.

My old A4 is still languishing local to me, it's on SORN though, hiding on the edge of a council estate. b7e1df87fafbeb5029834bd944387f0d.jpg

*raises hand*

Me too! I had a 306 back in 2010-2013 with an XUD in it. Random FTPs were cured by replacement leak-off pipes. I made them out of appropriately sized fuel hose cut into sections the right length with a stanley knife.

Must be nearing the point where you can't possibly bolt any more crap to it surely? Or are you going for the full 'king of the estate' look?  :)

That sounds like a challenge

Stu’s cars are one of my favourite things about this thread. You have to admire him; living his best life and not giving a shit what anybody thinks.

Stuboy - Autoshite’s very own Parable.

Been scraping old flaking underseal out of the Princess' rear arch.  At this rate it's going to take me a week to sort out each side, it's not a fun job.  I've been quite surprised by both the lack of paint and lack of rust under the underseal, especially so considering that it was holding water against the bodywork in places.  No new rot horrors discovered either, thankfully.

Do you have a primer bulb, sometimes it's a perished bulb letting air in.

Bumped into my eldest's  ex girl friend today, didn't know her but she did me.

Not seen her for 30 years. Told her about the wife.

Shes coming to the funeral.

Sam, take a bow.

Bought a new bluetooth stereo jobby for the Lancer today, attempted to install it there and have managed to short something, as the stereo, clock, interior light and central locking now aren't working. Arse :D Fuck it, will check the fuses tomorrow in daylight. I always manage to fuck up the simplest of jobs

I seem to recall from my BX days that filter heads can be a source of leaks. Or entirely rotten fuel lines...

The one on my CX fell apart one year on priming the new filter. The new one cured the surging it had occasionally suffered from.

I just realised that one problem with selling the Rover, even if I have fallen out of love with it, is that the next owner will undoubtedly ruin it.  Turns out I'm not okay with that.  So now I'm thinking that if the Princess continues to deliver everything I want for the duration of The Experiment, I shall merely mothball the Rover to save it from idiots.  Perhaps it's a car I'd even enjoy more if I used it less frequently.

I often cover the brakes when reversing, brake lights make good reversing lights and being red don't ruin your night vision so you can see what they don't illuminate.

Used the Merc yesterday, again, the battery was flat. Seems that if flat(ish) now they stay that way until a decent run and days of frequent use. Bring back the good old days of a quick thrash round the block and all is, once more, well with the world.

So I took the battery out of the Merc... which sounds simple but really wasn't. For one, the battery is MASSIVE! It looks to me to be about the size used on Artic lorries and weighs about 3/4 of a tonne. Also, very odd connection on the negative side which baffled me a bit, but came off easily enough, just looks odd... It took serious effort to get the battery out of the boot, simply because I am weak, got it halfway out and nearly quit as it was killing me. I know it sounds feeble, but I really have a severe lack of strength both in my arms and back and really should not have even tried. Ended up pushing the battery along the path as I just couldn't carry it.

Now on charge, gassing like mad (well, slight pong in the flat which I do not like!) and then, I have to face putting it back in the car. I thought the battery for the Jaguar was heavy, this bugger is in a separate class entirely!

On another 'back in the day' point, when your battery was going flat/getting a tad weak, the starter sounded slow and struggled, nowadays, all these smart starters (even the XJ-S has a new 'high torque' starter - not standard but half the size and twice the power!) sound fine so long as the minimum voltage is there, and yet .5 of a volt less and they don't even turn over. The BGD was exactly the same and it's annoying.

I am now laying on the floor, really hurting and not allowed any more painkillers (had enough of double/triple dosing on opiates - bad for you) and the pain s making me feel sick.

Thank you for this opportunity to have a damn good whinge. I may have abused the privilege:)
