Nice weather this afternoon in the westcountry. Had a meeting in Perranporth on the north Cornish coast. Most normal people would have taken a Merc convertible what with the weather and that whole first impressions counting thing; but because autoshite I decided the 740 was the car for me....

I've just paid someone for Fixing the BINI.

Wife and Daughter pointed out a clunking noise on full lock.

I diagnosed NOT a drive shaft.

Turned out to be 2 worn out front end bottom bushes. So fuck that I'm not arsing around on my back trying to fix that (cause I'm off to Lake Garda tomorrow and packing)

I agreed with a local back street place that does my MOT's that they'd do it Thursday Morning. Which apparently means Friday afternoon. Took him 5 hours apparently. Given that he'd nearly finished at 6pm Thursday, but only actually finished at 4pm on Friday, I'm wondering if lying is normal for these "types"

£150 with a brake pipe, which we agreed was dodgy.

They don't have a card reader, don't do paypal. I have no cheques. I paid cash. How fucking back street is that?

Had a look at DVLA Cherished for the plate GG66GGG (yes 66 is available now).

£auction. Wonder what it goes for?

Which makes me think, won't OO00OOO, BB88BBB and AA44AAA be issued at some point?

No photos but today outside my window was a Bugatti veyron ( reg something like BUG1A), beige rolls continental convertible reg x13aaa ( or something), white Ferrari California 458? Reg aaa again.

All with blingy chromed wheels. I had no idea football transfer fees came through so quickly!

today's job has been to swap the headgasket on the replacement engine I put in the saph for a multi layer steel one, I wanted to change it as a matter of course, I'm glad I did as I found someone had plopped a bottle or 2 of k seal in it in the past due to gasket issues around no4 cylinder (surprise surprise) I hate k seal,

I dropped the head off at the engineer's at 1.30 as it needed a lick, I got back with it at 5.30 so started putting it back together with new timing chain, oil pump chain, chain guides, water pump etc I left it at just needing the manifolds putting back on pipes putting back on and filling up with fluids

In a similar, but more nerdy vein - SQL injection attack via reg plate... here's hoping the Polski po-po don't standardise their input data.

Popped to mums with Eva for a bit to pick something up that Amy wanted, no stepdad. "Oh, a tyre keeps going flat, so he's at kwikfit (lease company make him got to KF).

Not 3 seconds later the phone rings (10.20 by now), they can't do it until 3pm... I've just picked him up, will run him back later.

Shame, as if he could have gone to the local tyre place up the road it would have been fixed by now! And as the tyre has 4mm of tread left the lease co won't authorise a repalcement so it needs to be fixed!

I know I moan about the cost of lots of stuff but I'm glad I can just go anywhere for tyre work!

Rather go to Kwik Fit and not pay, than anywhere and it come out of my wallet.

My van goes to KF for tyres. Nice chap agreed to put my spare (brand new) onto the other side, as I got a new replacement - and hang the roadworn one as spare.

Happy with all that & 45mins off the road (something about keeping us moving)

Obvious solution starts with a collection thread, has the 205 gone already?

As beko said, buy another Vauxhall. They have a habit of being reliable, or atleast the older ones do!

Now I've said it, mine will probably break now....
