Been out to test drive an audiS4 Avant with my mum (69years old) as she needs an auto with leather and petrol.

she described it as 'nippy'

I now know where the GLF comes from

This news just in.. we haz bort an carz!

but not what you think

The Audi has gone , not to Scotland though , even if it did meet most of the criteria for MuthaGLF.

Doubled my investment ,which is as worrying as its unusual.

Why worrying? You may ask. Well, I now think I'm some sort of Classic* Car Dealer , you know like Mike Brewer or The Doctor or Cavcraft.

'Oldoutyerand, this time next year Rodney ,we'll be millionaires etc etc.

This will end in tears , right where's that 99p Rover 827?

Last week, the IPTOC helped me scrap my spares Piazza. It was a nightmare getting it collected but it's gone now. Its parts will live on in a number of other cars.

I can't get GYP out of the garage in PEEBO_WASTELAND because I broke the key off in the deadlock and we're waiting for our landlord to replace the barrel.

Rover 25 is now sold awaiting collection from castros_bro.

Captain Slow has made incredible progress with the white 605; it now has an opening nearside passenger door in what appears to be a long time. Next job will be an MoT and it'll be out the door to a new owner. Someone I know is interested.

Xedos took me to the Beaulieu Autojumble and back without complaint although it appears someone has played with the wiring earlier in its life to fit a horrible aftermarket alarm.

The blebby arch will need sorting soon. It found a friend in the New Forest, too.

Amazon is back soon, too. I have a date and everything.

Had my first go in a Honda HR-V this weekend as well - the same mate has just bought one and I drove it home for him.  I actually rather liked it - I've always quite liked the shape of them, but I found it really nice to drive as well, and surprisingly nippy for a non-VTEC 1.6-litre 4x4 - it'd definitely leave a Vitara or a Sportrak in the dust.  I want one now...

Those have been on and off my radar for a while too! They always seem to go cheap and do look like fun. I don't know why I'd need one though. I guess it would be good at carrying a mountain bike, or stick some snow tyres on it for the winter OMGSNOKAOS.

We got my sister an HRV a few months back and I like it so much Im looking for one myself to replace the Escort. Preferably a three door in one of the unusual colours they did...dog piss yellow, Vulgalours hat purple or inside a jaffacake orange.

God Like Figure?Ben

Gaun Like Fuck..

an appropriate phrase for a 340bhp v8 4.2 estate:)

Wow. That's joyously odd. Is that a CVT too?

it appears to have a 3 speed box with overdrive/tc lockup and 4wd.

I could feel gearchanges like a normal auto so dont think it is cvt

Love the Lakes, and 75s. Is this a yearly thing, would love to go next year.

yes and no...

it was a mini-meet, social gathering that some of the forum members had organized themselves, but the club has been to the museum a number of times, usually once a year at least! and they are already thinking about having another meet there next year.

details get listed on the rover 75 club forum, which i guess you have to be registered to access, but as that can be done for free, its not a hardship?

That CRV gearstick is great.

Is the other lever low range?

no, the other lever is the handbrake!

They did HR-Vs with CVT too. I'd very much like to try one of these.

Apparently the CVT version has a super-low first gear lower end of the cones or whatever system it uses and is a lot handier for minor offroading as its like a proper low crawler gear for edging over obsacles rather than having to keep the manual in first, wind it up to a zillion rpm till VTEC yo to prevent in stalling and tearing the arse out of the clutch.

Given how the manual drives on road I reckon the CVT would be a real hoot too....very point n squirt.

Our focus performed superbly during our holiday to Devon, on some occasions showing a clean pair of heels to more modern machinery on the motorway.

Somebody will be getting s good car when it is moved on.

Just incase you need to know the handbrake cable adjuster on that shape crv is under the passenger seat . Slide the seat forward , lift a carpet flap and it's under a tin plate ( 10mm socket and a no2 Phillips iirc) of course you should slacken this off and adjust the little drums first ! Not just ream the cable up

Feel free to tell me to 'grow the fuck up' or anything else appropriate.

I think it would be appropriate to sack off the Bentley next year and buy a nice coach instead. :)

So, on the French Car Forum, a Xantia is for sale local to me.

It's a 2.0 turbo petrol Activa. It has 134k miles on it.

However, it'll have a fresh MOT, freshly welded sills, and 8x alloys with tyres. It also apparently has a manual boost controller.

They want £1k for it.

I don't have that much money right now, though. If I did I may have ended up doing something incredibly silly.

Will your mother be bringing it to Crail?

It might do quite well, when my colleague bought his crv he booted it when we got on the motorway and I gave up trying to keep up when we hit a ton, and judging by the could the zx emitted I tried bloody hard...

We need a rematch now though with the xantia. He says it's pretty quick though, a d surprises folk alot, probably cos it can get all the power down over 4 wheels

Last week i decided to change the oil in the Fiesta, i refitted the old sump plug and noticed that when i was doing it up it went slightly tight and then loose again, i didn't think much off it until i noticed it was dripping oil.

So today i thought I'd remove the old plug and fit a new Ford one I've just got only to find the fucker had snapped clean off.

Arse, so now i have a bigger drip and half a plug stuck in the sump i can't get out, it's my own fault, i bought the plug last year of ebay as it had a magnetic end and it was cheap, clearly cheap for a reason. I've borrowed a stud extractor set but i've never used one before so i expect I'll removing the sump before I'm finished...

My neighbour has an older one of these, scrape on every corner but it cost him £500 and he loves it.

Again the height was one of the main reasons for getting it.
