Going to look at another vectra. Offered by a trader - at least it's not a private seller who thinks they are mike brewer.

Wish me luck....

Should do a proper topic for this, but anyone in the SE/London area fancy a swap or part ex for my Rover 75? Needs to be Focus/Astra size and reasonable on fuel but that aside anything considered

Posted

I still think the F40 looks amazing but the F50 looks like Mitsuoka hypercar.

I think precisely the opposite! F40 looks old and boring whereas the F50 looks the canines cojones :) So, you are wrong and I demand an apology :)

Maybe Ken would be up for swapping the Golf, as the 75 is covered by classic insurers.

Its a fairly safe bet that if you have an actual car, Ken will be up for swapping it for whatever he has at the time

Another fail in the vectra department.

Car advertised has having water pump and cambelt replaced - it had, along with 8 exhaust followers. Timing belt had snapped or tensioner had given up.

The bill was only just over £600, much less than you would expect - I suspect the owner has had it repaired as cheaply as possible then bailed out.

No thanks.

Your Bentley must have an exhaust blow giving you carbon monoxide poisoning if you think that looks good :)

Pretty much come to the conclusion that this has to go to make room for the Rancho.

I know it sound's stupid, but I haven't had it out of the garage all summer. MOT booked for Thursday, only covered a few hundred miles since the last one.

I currently have two of those the same colour and everything and another facelift one. Whatever you do, don't pm me any details.

I'm not entirely convinced about the f40 either, but I really don't like the f50. I would far rather have that1960s one. Having said that, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The fact that the f40 is valued at a 3/4million is neither here nor there....

I'm currently on holiday in Majorca, and apart from it being too fuggin hot during the day (wasn't my choice to come at the arse end of peak season) it's lovely. The shite quotient is high, and in particular they seem to be fond of Renault 4s here, be they shagged examples or restored ones. I've only managed two decent spots so far, the rest have been read-only as Mrs T is showing a low tolerance for such things...

Renner 11. Boring facelift version but still spot worthy.

The best so far, Carlton GSi/Omega 3000.

Guess which one is our hire car.

Mega tight turning circle and auto box for laziness, plus a surprisingly decent ride means it'll do, but fuck me the seats! My posture now resembles quasimodo after a severe bout of sciatica.

Obvs. I would have either in the blink of an eye, but everytime I see a Countach I think 'VW Beetle' and the F40 looks more like a TR7 with a bodykit than a TR7 with a bodykit.

Posted

I can see the F40 / TR7 thing but how the fuck can you look at a wedge shaped Countach and think semi-circular VW Beetle?

Because of all those shitty hopeless 'replicas' that adorned the roads at one time.

Posted

Oh dear god!

A little bit of googling has revealed a previously unknown world of shonky Lamborghini replicas that would look wrong to Ray Charles on a dark night.

oh dear!what has been seen cannot be unscene ( Nova kitcars!)

i never really cared for the countach,

or the F40,

or the EB110,

and certainly not the F50.

the jaguar XJ220, now THERE is a beautiful car.

i'd like mine in silver please......

Carlton is lush.

My holiday would be a 1000x better if I could smoke about in the Carlton rather than the poxy Smart we've got!

I saw this great picture of an XJ220 on an other forum. Semi detached house and XJ220 on the drive. Why do I think this person isn't married?

I hate to say this but I may have to leave the forum as yo are all, clearly, fucking morons! :)  The F50 is a thing of beauty, the F40 is a TR7 with a bodykit and a dreadful apology for a chassis (ever see one 'undressed'? The XJ 220 has always left me a bit m'eh 'cos it should have been so much better (V12, 4 wheel drive prettier bodywork) and all the Ford switchgear, well really! :)

Having said all that (and upset every other forum member with my views... forcefully put!) I have NEVER been that into Ferraris. Countach however I think is gorgeous and one of the few cars that got better with all the facelifts... no one else will agree with me there either as EVERYONE says the Gandini original is pure and beautiful (it is) but the later ones have a brutality and sheer aggression that sold a million Athena posters. No one puts a picture of an LP400 version on their wall in preference now do they.  The Espada on the other hand was pretty right from the off, and the MK1 wheels are gorgeous and deserve to be in a gallery even without the rest of the car.

However, if you want a REAL supercar that looks fantastic then you have to wander off in your time machine back to the late 20, early 30s and drool over Bugattis and Bentley racers. Very different but Christ, are they beautiful and the noise one of those old Bugs makes is orgasmic!

Please note, I was only joking so don't get your hopes up - I ain't going nowhere :)

I shouldn't do auctions. There's an agricultural come general tat auction every month or so and the auctioneer's face lights up when he sees me arriving. Im always buying a bunch of old shit I don't need, sometimes spending a few hundred quid.

I went to a car auction after work tonight. I've just bought 4 (four) cars, none of which I particularly like or need. God sake! I'll need to go back with a car load of drivers. How am I going to insure them all to get them home? One doesn't even have an mot.

My temples are starting to throb...

Also, F40 all day, every day. That and an RS200 have always been top of my Lotto list! :-)

Initially I was outraged* by this comment but upon reflection......... fair enough actually.

Alas I only have a partially dismantled Mk3 Golf and I feel that no-one would want that :)

At least PBIS/FJ wouldn't tell me to get stuffed if I had a R75 lol.

Was looking at a Volvo in Dundee and has bought FOUR cars!

Well done, offer of assistance* / pointing and laughing still stands.

Some really bloody good news from my end.

My chum Emma (who helped with the Sierra bASe and mentioned here http://bit.ly/2bXo43M)has just had her most recent MRI scan results and is still stable.  Whilst secondary cancer doesn't go away, she's been very stable now for 18 months.

She asks about the car all the time.  I would like to get some pictures of her with it before too long.  If we leave it much longer my worry is that...well... it's too hard to say really.

But there's a good chance Dicky will have made it too nice by then and Emma won't recognise it.
