@Six-cylinder - add a job on the list for the next FoD day - refill coolant on the Trevi. I didn't drop the whole lot out, what's in there is absolutely minging and mostly water. That'll need a batch of proper antifreeze luzzed into it before things get cold.

Someone needs to detail the story about why we all thought Ghosty might have stuffed his new purchase into a hedge.

The mini Subaru Forester with shrubbery damage down the left hand side?

I'm having my own FoD event fire as I missed today's.

No, the 'My Summer Car' - spec Mazda van that appeared in a ditch, wipers still wiping, after the chippy run on Saturday evening.

Japanese - check
FWD - check
Approx £1500 (before ditch) - check

GHOSTY!?!?!?! NOOOOOOO!!!!?!?!?!

You what?

Thanks for another cracking weekend guys 😁

I was sad to leave but timed it about right as I passed a good deal of the Retro Rides Gathering crowd coming the other way so got my own little moving car show and a few waves.  No photos unfortunately as my assistant had fallen asleep 😴

The new way of desecrating Invacars made me laugh 🤣🤣

It seems there has been criminal activity bought to the FoD.

When this scandal is found his reputation will he severely sullied!

It's alright! I am still massively grateful for the effort to bring them down here. Fortunately the Micra's exhaust didn't need replacement for the MoT so they're not as needed as they could have been last week.

Depending on the next open weekend I may be able to come down/up to the FoD to collect them there and then. I'm at college until the last week of December -save for a week's holiday in October- which might make it a little awkward to attend. I'll figure something out closer to the time.

Nice to see folks today even though my intention had been to just dive in, say hello and drop off a few bits of Xantia, come home.

That lasted precisely as long as it turned out that there was activity going on around this thing.

...Which immediately hooked my "I bet we can get that going" senses.

Sadly a lack of electricity and getting to the point where folks were packing up meant we weren't successful...however it's cranking happily enough, sounds pretty healthy and we've got oil pressure.  I reckon with a good battery and a bit more coercion it'll go.

I passed that this morning! It wasn't there when I left yesterday!

I thought it was max at first... Then I'm sure @Six-cylinderdidnt look 100% disapprovingly at the idea of turning it into a shed, but his car with his numberplate was the only thing we could have used and that could have linked him I suppose.

When I left today there was a bunch of dog walkers milling around it so I guess it'll be the talk of the town tomorrow and the pitchforks will be out

Should just hook it straight to the van (once it's been jump started) and sit on the starter for 5 minutes next time, it span really nicely

I might need to pay it another visit.  Stuff on a new earth strap to get around the one that started smoking, then have a jump vehicle with a nice big battery and hook it up with some serious jump leads and see what happens.

Was having a think about it and it's nearly ten years since I last had a shot at the "let's see if we can make this go" game.

Edit: Also I may have added something to my "I need one one day" list.

Despite being one of the first cars I drove, I'd forgotten how much I liked the first generation Cavalier.

This car will clean up lovely I reckon.  Shame about the dents in the doors on the nearside, but should be sortable I'd think.

Colour suits this car absolutely perfectly I reckon.  Will look gorgeous with a good polish.

Not the first time I have made that error.  And probably won't be the last.  Thankfully the portion sizes from that chippy are fairly generous, so thanks to @catsinthewelderfor letting me nick a bit of his haddock, and @Crackersfor donating some chips.  TBH I have no need for a full portion of fish and chips at the moment.. I am determined to not be as overweight as I currently am.

Some Photos from the weekender:

Everyone loves this AX.  It goes really well, but smokes somewhat.  Some Italian/French/British tune-ups have slightly helped, but not as much as needed.  It does at least idle and run properly now.

Once again, Thanks are due to Mr. and Mrs. Six-Cylinder for a very enjoyable weekend and a superb distraction from the general bullshit that is Real Life.

That looks like awesome fun. Regrettably post-work exhaustion got in the way for me; I'd even brought the Jaguar back from the office to drive down in!

Yesterday was my first visit to the FoD and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great to meet up with fellow Shiters, some that I'd met before and some that I hadn't. The Saxo was parked in Citroen Corner.

I don't know what colour the Cav is but it reminds me a lot of BL's Sandglow. It would be nice to see these back on the road.

once again many thanks to @Six-cylinder and @Mrs6C for hosting another awesome weekend :)

despite the intermittent heavy rain, it was a very productive weekend where a couple of the Vauxhalls where made to run and drive

have to admit now I have seen it in person I do like the look of the Cavalier :)

2009328531_ImagefromiOS(17).thumb.jpg.b8734f0aff02fa4128e796cfad785cf4.jpg

and I even managed to drag a few people in to fettle the CF on the last day, we got it turning over but ran out of time before we could get it to fire, im hoping next time we can do so :)

and this made for a fun comparison, 2 very different White estate cars :) was very cool to see the Mighty Dacia in person finally :)
