Ah, it was through Car Takeback so it must be one of those private salvage yards now.

Yes I'm fairly sure thats what it is now. Its largely hidden from view these days.

If it roffles I am in(terested) - I like SsangYongs. Besides, it's a grille away from being an MG prototype.

Yes,read up on that on ARonline.Couldn't be called a Rover because they weren't allowed to use the name on 4wd vehicles,or some such.

The ride is a bit rough but they drive pretty well for a body on frame vehicle - rack and pinion steering, rear coils, you can chuck them about and they tolerate it.

I've driven a few other SsangYongs - one of my favourite long termers was a 2019 Musso pickup so I got to live with one for six months, and I really liked it apart from... having leased a Fiat Fullback before getting that job so I only did 8K miles out of a 40K contract 😂 (and the Fiat had full-time 4x4, Mussos are part time).

Particularly liked how it was on long motorway runs, the wind and noise insulation and wide cabin made it really pleasant. Less skittish in crosswinds than the L200/Fullback but steering was too light.

This era Rexton I think was offered with full-time 4x4 and independent rear suspension as the Rexton W for some markets? But not here, I think.

The Rexton saga in the UK is quite complex, with them disappearing for a while, due to emissions etc. Then reappearing as the Rexton W,with Ssangyong own 2 litre, four cylinder engine and five speed Mercedes auto box. That was soon replaced by a 2.2 , Euro 6 version, which gained a seven speed auto..Manuals also available,I believe 6 speedThe EX and ELX versions had independent rear suspension whilst the SEs had a live axle.4wd on all Ws is manually selected on UK models.Mines a 2017,so cheap tax 2.2 SE auto. The handbook also refers to 2litre and 2.7 litre diesels and 3.2 petrols, along with full time 4wd.Had mine for around 18 months and done around15k miles and really rate it,along with the 10 year old Korando we've had since new.

The very rare Rexton 3.2 petrol has full time 4x4 and IRS, I think they did sell at least one in the UK. Some of the auto diesels with the 2.7 common rail engine had full time 4x4 too.
