Looks like a cracking day for a road trip! How well did it start this morning?
Good luck for the return journey

My Beetle is great fun driving around town or on country lanes but it's no fun on dual carriageways so it hasn't really been any great distance. It's not that comfortable over 60 as it's bloody loud! I'm even considering selling it as it doesn't really get used enough. If I am going any distance for a show I would be in the camper. For anything else my Octavia is such a good daily.

Love the Passat! A 16v GT estate must be nearly extinct now? Can't remember the last time I saw one

On Saturday i did the nextdoor workshop a favour and housed a Caterham they are working on in my workshop for the weekend. I pushed it in as it doesn't start and pushed it out this morning. Nextdoor are closed due to the owner being at a funeral so I pushed the car straight out so it was in full view of the workshop.
The owner of the car turns up and starts having a right go at me for leaving his car outside all weekend. Told him it was locked away in my workshop and I've only just pushed it out. Then he goes on about leaving it in the rain, it's never been out in the rain. It's not raining now but he can see it's been in the rain. Then he goes on about leaving his tools in it outside. It's a Caterham with canvas doors and a canvas roof not the sort of car you would leave valuables in. Properly having a go at me because his car is outside and the bonnet is off.
If that cunt wants an MoT anytime soon I am going to be fully booked for the next three years.
I would have been tempted to leave it outside after that!

When I got my Beetle back together I had to change the dynamo 4 times! The one it came with was faulty so I fitted a spare that I had. That didn't work either so got one off a mate which also didn't bloody work! Was fed up by this point so bought an alternator conversion kit! I had to take off the bracket the decklid hinges bolt to to get the fan housing high enough to get the fan out but by the 4th time I was quite good at it! The fan nut I used an impact gun to undo.

The whole MX5 drift sequence seemed like an excuse to point a camera at that girl's enormous knockers.
Now I'm going to have to watch it!

I tried to watch it but fell asleep halfway through! Don't think I will worry about catching up with what I missed

Love the new wheels! T5's are the same stud pattern as BMW aren't they? I always fancied a set of those 5 spokes you had on the 335d on a T5

Good luck with the sale! What are you going to get to replace it?

😂 Unfortunately it has been living in a hedge for the best part of 30 years, never mind putting you through one. I can confirm it rolls, and so you can indeed sit in it and make brum brum noises, but thats about the extent of its abilities at the minute. Last moved under its own steam at some point in the eighties I would have said.
It used to be my Granddads till he died 18 months or so ago, but lack of facilities, storage and time at the minute mean its being transported out of my possession, not into it unfortunately (well, assuming it sells at auction this weekend anyway).
I know 911s arent autoshite bread and butter, but given its a '68, a sportomatic (semi-auto), has triple webers (who doesnt like triple webers?!?), is mustard coloured, has the small engine (2.0 flat 6) and is buggered, I guess it qualifies. The state of it is even more upsetting when you realise he had plenty of covered storage, but it was full of other, less useful or interesting crap, so this sat in the open on a drive for years instead
It has been around all my life, and I've always, always, ever since being a tiny kid and playing in it, thought I would put it back on the road one day, but real life gets in the way sometimes. I'm secretly hoping it doesnt sell 😁
I suppose I could equally put in in the 'grumpy' thread, but given my main reason for posting was to thank Ceri, that might have been a bit of a back-handed compliment 😂
I saw pics of that one online recently! Shame it's leaving you but I reckon it's going to cost a ton of money to restore! I would love an early 911 but that will probably never happen

Glad to see your back! Those wheels look much better in silver. Let me know if you need any bits for it as I have a few spares in my garage!

That Beetle belonged to a mate of mine until a few months ago, before that it had been laid up in a garage in Plymouth for a few years! Will be good to see it in use
