Rustival 2025 - Who's Going

I managed to make it in the end. I'm sorry to say I'm a bit antisocial and didn't go out of my way to talk to anyone, but I did get chatting to a few really nice people, not sure if any were on here.

Everything in the show was fantastic but my heart was stolen by this absolutely beautiful 1991 Leyland Daf 200 Series.LeylandDaf200H371XUC1.jpg.bd3434314b569a34b6365da2866c4913.jpg

Unfortunately I didn't manage to fix the Rover's leak, so Me and Mrs MDH went to Rustival in her Vitara (which did a fine job but it wasn't the vehicle I wanted to take)

Parked  it in the main car park and discovered quite a few interesting vehicles.....

Had a good morning/early afternoon, met up with a few friends.

Didn't take any photos, as it's usually one of the most heavily documented events on the calendar, so I'll just look at everyone else's. :D

Great show, lots of shiters met, also this LHS from someone I'm following on Instagram who brought it to a show the first time.

Got back about an hour ago, had a great time! Did see a few familiar looking cars but couldn't be sure, did also see the Autoshite banner, but was busy doing my first loop of everything to see what was what, then got a little distracted 😅
Been told that next time I need to be an exhibitor, so will try and sort that. Maybe a pre-event thread with a photo of the car you are taking might be handy, as there were some that felt familiar but I couldnt put my finger on why, then looked at this thread and see it was all you lot 🙈

Enjoyable day,

Good to meet @motorpunkand listen to his very enjoyable talk. Will definitely buy the book as I missed picking one up today

good to finally meet @brownnova

Didn't take many pics this time

Absolutely loved the shabby Renault 12 and the Charade GTti.  Got to step onboard a Leyland National too (and get my car covered in its diesel clag when he fired it up at the end of the day

I also got to see the prototype XJ200 V12 inside the museum's Jaguar heritage collection, 38 years since I saw it at the London Motorshow ( although I was much more interested in the Skodas and FSOs back then as the staff let me sit in them for as long as I wanted!)

Wonderful day, good show and great people to share it with. I have custody of the banner, I'll bring it to Cholmondeley. After having got pissed up the night before the dog enjoyed himself too.

Thanks for taking photos of all the vehicles I forgot to @wesacosa 🤣
Worryingly, I didnt even see the Daf PO van! My uncle used to have one years ago, but with the bench seats down the sides and fully glazed with a sliding door, G-reg. Still remember when he first got it, and took all the family out in it including aunts/uncles. 14 seats with adults in, and about 15 kids rolling round on the floor as we went round a roundabout😅

His fan club was hanging out the window of the pony van on the M54 (in case you wondered why the mad-blond-lady-that-you-have-never-seen-before was grinning and waving at you) - yes, you have been papp'd by The Child Bride:

p.s. will upload better image at some point ....

I think it turned up late (assume it belonged to the museum) as I only noticed it towards the end of the day

A great day, got back home in time for tea too, the TransSport performing admirably on its first long trip in my ownership!

Good to see lots of folk I’ve met before, and to meet a few I’ve not met until today. Look forward to seeing you at future events. Maybe Cholmondeley?

Took fewer pics than usual… which may have been that I did video-ing instead… but have a few shots:

I didn’t even go into the museum this time, which I have done both previous rustivals!

So many excellent vehicles on display, it has to be said that this is a highlight event of the year. Great work @dollywobbler @Idriveaclassic and co.

Case in point... realised I didn't even take a photo of my own car at the show, but got myself a perfect screenshot of it from one of the walkaround videos instead.  :D

I picked up one of those too… sadly it fell out of my pocket as it wasn’t there when I got back to the car…

It was tucked under my windscreen wiper

Gutted to have missed it for the third time running, due to family commitments this year, here's hoping I'll be able to make Rustival 4

Wonder whether @Inspector Morose ever piloted this honey on the mean streets of south Staffs...

Piloted and fixed the damn thing (see Bus shite)

Met up 11:30 Friday morning with @juular and @MrsJuular at my place, then with @blackboilersuit at Bothwell services.

First stop was Tebay, ate a pie, had much entertainment watching about 25 Teslas fighting over 18 chargers.

Arrived at the hotel outside Daventry at 20:15 after encountering bad traffic repeatedly on the M6. Met up with @Sunny Jim for dinner.

Arrived at Rustival at 9:10.

Didn't take many photos, I usually save that for other folk to do these days!

We did park next to this ace Allegro estate

I liked this pair of Iron Curtain rarities.

This Skoda had been rolled a couple of years ago...

20250830_111803.jpg.f1ecc47fd841e72f3eec933a321c3cf1.jpg

This SIII had the worst oil leaks I've ever seen. The chassis was dripping wet all over.

For me "car" of the show was this Datsun Caravan. I failed to get a picture of the BROWN geometric pattered velour interior...

20250830_095825.jpg.c56b4435c79cc288bc448c56094dd439.jpg

It was also great to see the museum and collection hall with all the weird prototypes and concept cars.

Good to see some fellow shitters, apologies to those I missed. Spent most of the day on the move and only returned to the car when everybody else had buggered off due to the rain!

The return trip was today and took just under 6hrs.

I think going forward we'll split the return leg over two days like we did with FotU last year. That amount of driving at 4,500rpm in a 50yr old car is really quite tiring. Today was quite rainy and windy so I was kept busy... The car definitely handled the trip better than I have!
