Rustival 4: 18th April 2026 - who's going?

I took a really boring car last year. Not a single person looked at it, and I was fine with that. You'll have a great day immersed in the show, and the whole point is that everything is welcome. I wouldn't call any Toyota IQ boring - rebadged Aston, isn't it? 😄

Ha, that's good to know. I just wondered what the organisers would prefer. Is there enough room so that people just turning up for the show in their car don't take up a space which can't then be used by someone for their pride and joy?

I'm booked in, wanted a goal to get the 45 v6 ready. So hopefully taking that, if I fail I'll be going in my 214sei or possibly my Anglia. Time will tell.

I've booked to come down to this with Imp Jr for the day.

Just caught up on this and will be buying a ticket. I'll probably come in the Grim Sleeper so I can kip in it somewhere the night before the show.

I think as long as it is  a car thats about it! At the last one it was all kinds of things, from rarer, older cars to your everday 90s/2000s fleet and family cars.  May have even been an IQ or two last year actually.
As for parking, last time they opened up (what I assume) is one of the JLR car parks at the back for non-exhibitors, so all the exhibitors will fit, even have a 2nd car park for them.

@Austin-Rover what did you take last year? Maybe I did look at it😅

the overspill bit (which to me was more interesting than the museum)

This, definitely this. The overspill bit is where they keep the Ital Estate, which is so nice I wrote to them to ask if it was for sale! Also the very first Maestro off the line. Loads of other very AS stuff that is deemed too boring for main museum.

For me the main museum is not a draw but only because I used to go so regularly. It's a great museum so well worth it if you haven't been before.

@dollywobbler can you confirm the overspill bit will be open during Rustival?

I get this is meant to be a fantastic show but I’ll never get over the mental hurdle of having to pay to display my car at a show

same with FOTU

Sounds like you need to attend Shite in the park!

A free monthly car show/event on the last Sunday of the month April to September at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum.

No tickets or booking required and an optional £2 entry fee via donations box.

Aimed at pre 2000 vehicles.

We don't make anything from this and all proceeds go to the bus museum.

It's been open for all of the other Rustivals so I'd hope so

I didn't even photograph my own car, and seemingly no one else did either, so I've had to screenshot someone's video!

I took my Logan MCV

I vaguely remember it, my route around the upper car park was rather speedy due to running out of time! Though I must admit, I remember more the little grey one next to you (yes, forgotten the name of it!) and the volvo on the other side as the number plate rang a bell and I was trying to work out if it was down to AS or ive seen it locally😅

I'll be at Snetterton with the 2CV racer, not for the 24-hour (that's still in August) but we're on the full 300 circuit for the first time!

Have a top time, everyone - hope all goes well, @dollywobbler 😎

In spite of the name I think the ethos is that you can bring any car you like, your liking it is reason enough to bring it.

It would be nice to see polo again!

Our phrase is all wheels are welcome, from brand new EVs to pre-war snotters and very much everything in-between.

Yup. Can't see why it wouldn't be. That building often opens slightly later in the day than the main building. Don't forget the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in the lower part of the Collections Centre!

I think I've managed to persuade the nu_Mrs Grogee to come along to this. To my amazement she said she'd come with me AND ride in the Maestro! Maybe she'll change her mind but I've bought a exhibitor pass all the same.

I'm planning on attending Japfest which is the day after, and ironically it's only about forty minute's drive from the British Motor Museum. So I think I could make this work...is there anywhere worth staying up that way on a Saturday night?

Sadly I repaired all of the rust in my car last year, will I be allowed in without any of that, or do I need to buy another car? 😜

You can have some of mine.

For places to stay, Leamington and Warwick have the chain hotels. I used to live in Southam which is convenient for Gaydon but I don't think it's got any B&Bs, though that might have changed - check the usual travel scumbag sites.

Day's Inn on the M40 is bland and cheap - 4 miles away.
