I'd hesitate to say that anything done on a niche forum in a beige corner of the internet could be called "popular"

Unless you mean "popular" in the way of Fiestas/escorts back in the day :)

If you have a look at most replies it pretty much stays the same.

Maybe we need an annual awards thread for the best of the years Autoshite? Something a bit uplifting?

Stuff made for babies/toddlers/small children that is handwash or dry clean only.

These are kids, you NUMBSKULLS!

Huw was travel sick on the way down to Telford. His car seat cover said handwash only on the label. The instruction book said machine wash cold. Naturally it came out with a stain that still smells vaguely of sick. Thanks product designers, really thought about your target user there *thumbs-up*

The straps (understandably) are permanently attached to the chair so washing them is difficult. You can guess which part of chair took the biggest hit. *Sigh*

Ignore label and stick it on 40°C min, or preferably just dial it up to as high as you dare.

30°C or less 'eco' washes can GTF.

I didn't realise 30°C washes were still a thing. I thought they had been outlawed years ago because it's not hot enough to kill bugs.

It is actually the encouraged cycle on most garments and detergents - although we always washed baby stuff at 40, beds at 60 etc.

God I'm fucking boring sometimes.

Don’t get me started on baby stuff ! Grrr

Why does all of it seem to need two hands to operate ? Two hand free is exactly what you never have if you have a child with you .

Some cunt has been rummaging through our general waste wheelie bin during the night/early hours.

I hope stupid twat was happy as he was showered with soggy cat litter and cat shit which is what 99% of the bin contains. What the fuck were they expecting? Gold bars?

Guess what I have to clear up from the pavement now.

Did you find your keys then?

It will have been a fox that's their standard method of operations these days. Being near a town we are pretty much over run with them, if I go to a friends place in the countryside I never see any.

Get some of this. https://www.shopnshine.co.uk/valet-pro-enzyme-odour-eater-500ml?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl_iyv_Dg1wIVApPtCh2scgbUEAQYASABEgI6-PD_BwE

Cleans and gets rid of the smell. We used it on carpets when the wee one was sick when a baby, which was a lot.

I'm not convinced there should be laws about how hot to wash clothes!

"...and for the offence of a 20° wash, we hereby find you guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment"

Anyhow. Yeah, they're encouraging colder washes. Looks after your clothes better, much cheaper to run (like 20p a wash cheaper) and "bugs" generally need biological material to survive so unless you've crapped your pants you're fine. Mites etc will be killed with a soak.

You can even get liquids for cold wash (where cold is defined as 20°). Don't use powder though, it won't dissolve properly and will clog.

maybe a topic/post count for each member, i.e. how many topics started against how many posts they make overall. the higher the ratio the better.

1:1 obviously = troll

1:1000 = fucking legend

Could lob likes and thanks into the mix also

bored and fed up but this place helps me be less so

This, except for my garage clothes which get the 60 degree wash!

Same here.

I usually hang my spanners up this time of year as I'm not a fan of getting cold and wet laying outside under cars.

I've now got a garage but that's full of Capri parts at the moment so totally unusable.

Once the weather warms up and drys up in about April I start doing stuff again.

I will do essential work and smaller jobs or if it's a dryish day do some welding as that warms me up

I have a cold, couldn't sleep last night, got two hours kip. Now at work and feel like death, utterly knackered and everything aches...

I've had one recently too. If it's the same as mine the good news is it only seems to last a couple of days! I felt ok Thursday, got up Friday and felt awful, sore throat, lost my voice, headache...

by Sunday I felt pretty good again!

Get well soon!

The problem I find with cold washes is it clags the machine up after a while, like driving a modern diesel at under 2k revs for a year...

We wash mainly on a fast 40, as we can do a few loads a day at peak, and because our washing machine is modern toss it can't take big loads, so small and often seems to be what it likes. Every month or so, on a Saturday (we get free electricity on saturdays), if Amy goes out I'll put some dyson filter and hoses, bath towels, my car clothes, whatever can be done at the time really through on a 2 and a half hour 90 degree wash. The smell that comes out of the sink plughole can be something to behold, and it always smells fresher inside afterwards!

Stay at home then, don't take it to work and smit everyone. Do they give out medals at your place 'cos they don't at ours?

I agree with your sentiment, but sadly managers have little sympathy when it comes to simple colds, and expect you to come in and make everyone else ill too. Air con really helps with this. It's great for spreading germs.

Four years of training washing machine salespeople does that to you!

Concur with all of the above; adding in self employment to the mix.

Or any other illness... including abnormal pooing.

Unless it's the manager who has the cold!

Maybe I sounded harsh but it's true that a day or two off is probably more productive for a company than cold ridden employees potentially making mistakes and having a lower productivity anyway.
