Can't we just, y'know, take it one holiday at a time?

We've got the shops doing that on one side, and the BBC and the papers telling us we'll all be dead by March on the other side....

Who'd have thought it, my replacement alternator is wrong.

Our black cat doesn't. It goes out, it wants fuss off the wife or, if she's round here, stepdaughter, plays with string/toy mice/chases red laser dot. Only 6 months between the 2. It does like getting on the bed though, which I really do not like.

Heh, it's a glamorous bench isn't it? It's an Anglepoise lamp with a really bright ancient CFL I found in a drawer somewhere- not exactly a burning hot sun but it's all I could find. Fortunately it's still relatively mild outside.

We're making headway at least. It took an hour to get the front bearing cover off the old alternator. Been cleaned and secured onto the new alternator. It's a good job the bearing inside is still alright or else I'd have thrown in the towel. I did manage to muller the old fan and pulley though so I'm now making a good one out of the two I have.

I thought it was an art installation.

Treat a cat like a WBOD...but as soon as they are very ill, it's off to the vets for a one-way journey, then get another one.

When doing his customary end-swoosh DW says 'I'm always going to finish on the rear wipers from now on'.

I didn't realise he liked windscreen wipers that much, and that's an image I really would like to forget.

I'd call it "Trust Lucas", because that's twice now I've trusted Lucas and their dubious compatability lists and been bitten on the arse because of it.

This was my local vet and curry house about 15 years ago. Both suspiciously great value!

I'm very tired of the problems I've had with the Audi to have the carburetor replaced on it. Feels like every time I try to do something about it it kicks me in the balls and takes my money without anything positive happening.

Covid had culled my yearly trip to Tesco for my "get on the way" trip.

Aimlessly wonder around with a trolly blocking the asiles ,best years was when i could take my son in a wheel chair and he could enjoy winding up the fussy ones who got on the way any other time of the year ... And the footplates were deadly !

Perhaps next year ..

Cars are ungrateful bastards like that. All vehicles in fact. The only vehicle I've ever had that didn't cause problems was a fixed gear bicycle and they're fairly impractical if you don't have legs of steel.

I can't remember if it's your daily or not, but if it's not don't be afraid to step away from it for a while. That's what I've done with my 205, I haven't even looked at it for a month or two, it'll probably be after my birthday in January before I look at it again. Taking a step back can give you a clearer view of the problem when you come back to it.

Luckily it is not my daily have a modern Hyundai for this. And yes they can be but I have so far been lucky with most of the cars I have owned. The last car of the same age I owned was a 240 I owned it for almost 3 years with almost no problems. But is a good idea as you say with taking a break I have already taken a month break from this and possibly I will take another.

Volvos don't count, I've had less problems with moon mileage 850s than I have with the rest of my cars. The first one I had was low mileage and had endless problems though.

Left a brand new battery connected on my sierra and then ignored it for a few months. Now very dead and likely beyond redemption  taking a charge and starting the car.

Fucksticks.  Grump rescinded. :-)
