today I was on another mission , not a disabled old lady stuck in a broken down car this time , the in law had a blocked bank card at the petrol station and 2 jobsworths behind the counter wanted paying for petrol , short story is it took her some 40 minutes to ring me to go and pay the bill for the petrol , took me another 30 minutes to get there ...... they could not fill in a cant pay form as no one in charge was present ... its a petrol station FFS what if a situation occurred , cant use the fire extinguisher no one to authorise it !!

I did advise her afterwards that I would of written an IOU with my name and address on a piece of paper , slapped it on the counter and walked out .... they cant hold you , they cant seize your goods or you can report them for assault  ....  and they have a piece of paper to wave  at the police , who will no doubt be pissed off with having bow down to 2 jobsworths and give you a call ,

At work our company vans come with a BP fuel card. One day I filled the Sprinter up (75L diesel) went in to pay with the fuel card but the card had somehow become fucked and wouldn't accept on the till. Tried it loads of times but nothing.

In the end I told the cashier I'd have to just owe them and come back later to pay them back. They were perfectly fine with it! I even offered to leave them my details and the dead fuel card so they had hard proof of my details and the vans reg number etc but they said not to worry.

My boss went back later that day with his company credit card and payed that way.

Just goes to show some people really are just awkward jobsworths.

Depends on the boss.

Some people may get the sack for giving fuel without payment, or risk it being taken from their own wages.

My son once lent a can to someone who had run out, had cash to pay for fuel, but not enough to buy a  can.

They didn't bring the can back, his wage was deducted.

I seem to have broken several of my payment cards! My Barclay's debit has been dead for a month or so now, keep meaning to get that replaced. Put £50 of BP's shittest diesel in the gooner this morning and my credit card (i use it for 2 tanks a month and pay it off) wasn't even registering in the machine, it just gave me a straight out 'card error'. Gr9 at 8.50 in a packed place with no other means of payment...

Luckily the lady pushed a button and gave me a pen and a receipt! Just like the good old days. Then I had to get my driving lisence as I'd as I've not signed the credit card...

Turns out my cards sit in my wallet right under a popper. My fat arse on my wallet has punched the cards up, and now their bent... Credit card works contact less, which is no use over £30, Barclay's debit doesn't work at all.

Barclay's can suck it, I have a Monzo account now which I'll get my wages switched to and close the Barclay's account, need to ring lloyds and get a new card and then a new wallet!

It turns out I owe my insurance company an apology. When I moved house about a year ago, I posted a moan up here about my premium almost doubling, despite moving half a mile down the road. So, this morning before I went to work, I got the T-cut out to sort where someone had scraped the bumper corner of the Laguna, while a Vectra parked four cars up got dragged off after someone had driven into it and left the front wheel pointing 45 degrees away from where it should be.

I've just got back from work and been to get my phone charger from the eddyramrod Saab.

People are lovely aren't they? I parked the 635 in Clerkenwell and one of those couriers on a bike parked in front of it. I came out 20 minutes later, he was gone and there was a fresh scratch across the nose panel. I kept it there though becoz character.

Today I'm getting a taste of what life after Brexit will be like.

Yes, I've had to get a bucket and sponge out and wash my own car. The local Handcarwash is closed , as are 2 other inferior ones nearby.

It seems some petty regulations might have been breached. I can't do links, just search Milton Keynes, car wash and maybe Modern Slavery, Class A drugs and money laundering too...

The two lads that ran it always seemed sound enough, into their cars too SL55, V10 S8 , S600 etc, never any indications that..., ah!

Quite a few in Bristol got raided on people trafficking and slavery charges.

A friend who lived in a guardian property had a guy from Romania living there who used to be a car washer. Basically a lot of the places completely stitch them up. The owners charge exorbitant rates for them to work at the site as they class them as self employed. So they have to wash loads of cars to even make a dime themselves. As a lot of them are from poor areas they can't afford to leave and also many speak little English. If they do leave, the owners report them to the HMRC for tax avoidance, as most don't have any idea that they have to file their own taxes if self employed.

Hand car washes are often one of those places where modern slavery is in plain sight and most people completely unaware of it. Also most don't responsibly handle the strong detergents and dirt in the waste water and leave it to run into storm drains. These drains often run straight into our water courses doing a lot of damage.

Nobody ever touched mine.

I absolutely won't use these places, even the most responsible ones won't pay minimum wage or take the chemicals seriously from the damage they can do to peoples health (or to peoples cars)

I don't want to fund that kind of business, I'd rather just drive a dirty car, or god forbid wash it myself.

A friends of mine lives 2 doors down from "Mr Soaps", Who obviously have no proper drainage so all the water has soaked the ground, now their house and garden are now perpetually damp. Council keep kicking off but the business keeps changing hands etc so nothing gets done.

I've never used them & never will. Apart from anything else it's not difficult to wash a car on the occasions I want it clean.

^^this. I aren't paying anyone, no matter how small an amount, to wash my car. It'll either be dirty of I'll get off my fat arse and do it myself.

And same as above there's at least two near here. One was a car sales so it just runs into the drains but the other place is at the bottom of a car park. It has no drains at all but a convenient small stream near by...

Twice recently I've tried to fill up at my local 'fuel 24 hrs' Tesco petrol station late in the evening to find the pumps coned off and set to 'cashier payment only', and the kiosk is closed.

'fuel 24 hrs' my arse, let's see what Trading Standards think of that.

Why do floorboards creak so fucking much. Trying to exit my 2 year old room cos he woke and wanted cuddles would defeat a ninja. Now he's awake again because houses have cheap pish floors that act like trip wires at Stalag Luft 3.

This is Britain.  It rains a fair amount.

Sorted.

Will I take £100 less for my car because someone lives 25 miles away?

Yes, yes of course. Tell you what, I’ll knock another fucking £90 off because the car is 10 yards further from my house, hey?

Even a 6 cylinder Omega isn't going to cost £100 in petrol to do 25 miles.  Offer to drive it to THEM - and charge them £100 more.

Sucks ass doesn't it. Ive been avoiding doing this for years, mainly cos our cunt bastard cat has clawed certain bits of the carpet and there's no freaking way anybody's getting it to go back again intact.

Nope, the only outcome there it to take a picture of it on the scrapyard truck and tell them I got £50 for it.

Worked when I 'sold' my 605.

It went to live on a farm I slightly bent every panel with a peen hammer to stop anyone taking panels off it before the HIAB faerie arrived.

Long ago I repaired chips in screens and a regular client (.. decent coffee!) was Kenning Rental - opposite the NUFC.

They were jetwashing all day and were 'in dispute' with their neighbours [lower down the hill.. lol] a large business block >> with bleeding walls in the cellar. Mahoosive drains/sloped concrete rafts were installed and that was the end of it >> site abandoned within 12months = getting near court, likely ;)

Don't know why these places don't recycle the water anyway, because their water bills must be fierce if they're letting it all drain away.

..... the 'luridly flagged/signage' Pop-Up ones, on old petrol station sites, likely tap the water under the old meter/cock...

Bills?

Actually laughed at that ....

You don't think they actually pay for it?

I will end up punching one of the cunts quite soon - red lights/pavements/highway code mean nothing to them

I'm a fairly easygoing person but actively wanting to to see one of them run over is a bit worrying

Well I was thinking more about TooSavvy's tale about Kenning Rental.I don't see how they could get away without paying for all that water.

I've never had any loans apart from my mortgage, which means I can't reclaim ££££ in PPI claims.

I know on balance it's a good thing, but who doesn't like a cash injection occasionally? I think I shall have to resort to doing extra work at the weekends at this rate.

Every single time I've gone to TS about the standards of trading I've suffered from, they've claimed it's something they don't cover. I'm not sure what they do as poor service, lies & rip off scams from traders don't appear to interest them.

I understand in France you must use an approved, recycling car washing facility
