Six-cylinder Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 What did you drive on your last day before tomorrow’s house arrest? Me, I moved the Alfa 156 V6 out of the way so I could take the Maestro for a run. chodweaver, w00dy, LightBulbFun and 8 others 11
hairnet Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 the rusty mazda from glos via not the m5 or the m6
Soundwave Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I'll still be travelling for work occasionally, so the cars will still be driven. I'll try and alternate between the three of them so they all get some use.
bunglebus Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 The Passat, cos I don't own anything else. Mileage has been noticeably less this year, I was thinking it was due some service items but just haven't done the miles to need them yet
UltraWomble Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 House arrest ! Pah - got swabbed & sent home from work because I have a cough FFS - its cold & damp and I have asthma - of course I have a cough
Shite Ron Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 We are currently under house arrest but may be released next week, if that happens I may be driving a Cortina Estate the first weekend of freedom. ProgRocker and chodweaver 2
Slowsilver Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 @Six-cylinder was discreet enough not to mention it but today he also drove this: Yes, the saved from the scrapman Mondeo finally hit the road again after 7 years of inactivity to go for an MoT. He drove it there and back for me which was only about a mile each way, but he said that he enjoyed it very much as he had not driven a Mondeo for many years. Needless to say it failed, as I knew it would, but at least I now know what I am up against. LightBulbFun, HMC, RayMK and 13 others 16
puddlethumper Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I drove my 305 van to Tescos where there didn't seem to be any panic buying.
iainrcz Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 House arrest? If only. I'll still have to work.
busmansholiday Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 The only thing I'm not going to drive is the motorhome. Essential travel is permitted, visiting my local brewery (between Lidl and Tesco) means it's whatever I fancy using.
loserone Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 The last car I "drove" was a Range Rover Evoque, with the engine off, being towed. 20" wheels best* for no power steering FakeConcern 1
Saabnut Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 What house arrest? Living in Scotland has advantages not limited to midges/fog/rain/snow! UltraWomble, scorchio69, Supernaut and 1 other 3 1
NorfolkNWeigh Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 With perfect timing , I’ve started working* for NHS Test and Trace. It involves setting up and telling people what to do. ( through a mask and a closed car window) so I’ll be out most days. This is pretty much what you saw the Army doing on the news earlier in the year- so basically I’m a cross between Andy Mcnab and Dr Ross out of ER, people will be clapping me on Tuesdays too. Anyway, I’ll be using a different car each day, only a 4 day on 4 day off rotation, luckily, as I don’t own Chez6cyl levels of cars. HMC, FakeConcern and Royale80 3
Timewaster Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Business as usual for our house. Work, school, all carrying on. Hoping my mates garage goes quiet so he can finally get some jobs done on my heaps though.
New POD Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 In the previous lockdown. I ignored the omega for months, until, I was assisted by @MikeRand @omegod to eventually get it going. I'm not making that mistake again. I'm working from home, but i used the omega today for a 2 mile round trip to the seaside. I reckon 15 mpg in petrol when the engine is cold. I never actually got to see the sea. We stayed in the woods out of the wind. Might need to go to Uttoxeter next week. My work is in Hinckley, and I need to do some work on a Hmmmwv. and the regulations are clear. I can go to a second home in order to work. And I can go to a second home if the trip is related to selling it or letting it out.
MikeR Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I can still have the joys of travelling to work ... Despite nearly walking out today ... In that I have decided to walk in the new year and claim my deferred pension and fuck them off , it's a year earlier than I wanted .... But after this year it sound good .
DoctorRetro Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Out at Tesco getting some Night Nurse and Actifed at the moment... Also spotted this... Traitor! Six-cylinder, wuvvum, NorfolkNWeigh and 2 others 1 4
beko1987 Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 My car, to the office. Same as I'll do next week, and the week after, with my key worker innit letter in the door pocket incase they roadblock the a404 or something Literally the first time I've had it hot enough for proper hot air out the vents in months, the poor diesel bastard myglaren and leanycan 2
chodweaver Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Today I mostly drove the Grand Voyager to do some panic-buying of timber, paint, brushes and sundry DIY items. Then later I drove the pink Corsa of despair up to ChodWeaver Jnr #1 (only 40 houses away though) so he had it to hand for key worker activity tonight (takeaway food delivery) but also so I could have a furtle with the borked POS system he was playing with.Fixed it too!ETA The hat trick! Got called in to work to scoop up some late deliveries and as Jnr #1 was already using the Corsa, these had to be done in Mrs CW's Highanddry i20. God, I've missed driving a nippy manual, even if it does have shit visibility for reversing and the default dash illumination level is WAY too bright.
RayMK Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 My daughter visited today, so I stayed in. Tomorrow I'll be driving the Mirage to hospital for a joyous* catheter change. On a better note, heard today that the Tipo's welding and MOT is still going ahead on 16th Nov. My son's place of work is also staying open, so he will drive it there - it's nearby- to avoid me being put in the Tower.
Dick Cheeseburger Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 The car I will never sell. Love this thing. Having said that, my current <£10ph job is classed as 'essential', so I'll continue to daily the old girl. rusty998, Six-cylinder, Wack and 1 other 4
Vince70 Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Mine was picking my beautiful Ti up from the spray shop as I had a small rust bubble on the front wing and a little bit of lacquer peel on the rear bumper so I had a new wing fitted and the rear bumper repainted. The car now looks as good as new. Also while it was away I needed a car to use so got my old R50 out of its 7 month slumber and taxed it so I could pop over and take my mother shopping. Six-cylinder, FakeConcern and w00dy 3
wuvvum Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 At lunchtime I drove the Rover 75 up the road to jump start the Scudo. Then I drove the Scudo to the scrapyard. Then I drove home from the scrapyard in the Mondeo, which had been strategically parked round the corner. This evening I went to Lathams of Potter Heigham in the Granvia to try and buy a tarpaulin (they'd sold out). Then I drove to Tesco in the C2. So not done badly really for a weekday. Six-cylinder, catsinthewelder and w00dy 3
Dippy Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 With the Volvo in bits and the wifes car on loan to my daughter and the Princess not taxed I had no choice but to use the Jensen 😁 Shite Ron and eddyramrod 2
eddyramrod Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Oh Dippy! Tough life! I've got nowhere to go mostly but did have a bit of round-town stuff to do, so took the Suzuki.
Matty Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Iveco pickup. And I'll be driving the fucker tomorow as well cos keyworker (again 🤣)
Royale80 Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Focus today and Sierra tomorrow. Don’t know about Monday as I’ll be in the pub in the afternoon. Live in Wales.
Macscrooge Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 4 miles in my Lexus RX. Yesterday I drove 322 miles in it. Bloody comfy.
crad Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 drove from darkest sussex back to birmingham in the mighty clio. 50mpg, not bad for a 1.2 on the motorway
Tadhg Tiogar Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I'm (still) using the London Underground. I suppose it might be a touch emptier tomorrow....
