It can be difficult to find play in multiple bushes.Maybe get someone to bounce the suspension while you look to see where the noise is coming from.Or spray WD40 over each bush in turn and see if the noise goes away.

Just looked at a pic of X350 front suspension. It would be quite easy to miss a bit of play in a bush.Or maybe it's making noise without play.

Does anyone know the unladen weight of a 1989 Renault Trafic T1000D?  Google is struggling with this hugely* important* question

African or European?

European.  Specifically, this one... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Trafic-T1000D-Diesel-spares-repair-restoration/173564183583

I asked the seller a few days ago but no reply.  I'm tempted (particularly at the current price) but need to know the weight to see if my friendly recovery chap can carry it.  From the information I've found I'm guessing around 1400kg, but I don't want to rely on guesses!

Dunno but they are a wank idea.  I am just trying to revive a dead Corsa C with a very flat battery.  I think the Battery is probably on the other side for LHD - the comedy location and wiring of the battery takes some believing

Only just seen this reply. Yeah it's bloody stupid idea. Remove scuttle trim, remove under bonnet seal, remove this remove that, then the battery cables are reversed colours.

When wife's friend told me the car wouldn't start I did wonder if the battery was fitted incorrectly.

The nuts on my camper steadied are a bit rounded. So still work but a bit of a pain. Is there a socket that you can buy with say metal pins in that when you push it on takes up the slack and helps trip the rounded nut. If not can someone with a shed invent one. Stanky I am counting on you.

Something like this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013E0T09Y/ref=asc_df_B013E0T09Y56024606/?tag=googshopuk-21&creative=22146&creativeASIN=B013E0T09Y&linkCode=df0&hvadid=208050023643&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2761261471602474929&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007027&hvtargid=pla-451189242604

Does it matter ? I assumed recovery drivers must be exempt from vehicle weight limits . Just going by how many 3.5t transits I see with Disco 3s or similar on the back

Do you need to know the weight for towing it? I struggled to find data for a 1989 Trafic but a Vauxhall Arena 2.5D (rebadged Trafic) is 1680kg with a driver, that's probably as heavy as the Trafic panel vans get.

Dilemma,  I am going to get rid of the garage, I have decided definitely... maybe. So what to do with all the cars? The Fiesta is worth(less) £50 and I haven't touched it since I got it, but it's my friends and I don't want to frag it.  The Merc, I like the car and I 'think' in years to come it will be worth some serious dough (I do have a habit of selling stuff just before the prices for them go through the roof!)  so while I'd like to keep it, it may not be possibel. I do intend to keep the XJ-S if I ever drive it that is!

So what to do with them all?

Posted

I'd say keep the garage if you can.

I expect it to be a long time before that type of Merc is worth much, and do you trust the Jag to be your only car for you and doggies?

I'm not sure I trust the Jaguar while it's sat outside! I have the same problem with it as the MX5, I have to roll onto the floor and then stand up to get out... not terribly dignified :) That's one of the reasons I want to use it, to get some faith in it. I've only driven it once since I bought it, just been working on it a few hours at a time.

The reason to get rid of the garage is purely financial: it costs me £120 a month and I can't afford it anymore.

Holy moly. I thought the 50 quid a month in paying in Bristol is bad. Is the garage a council/housing authority or a privately rented one? The housing authority ones around here are significantly cheaper than privately rented (like half).

Your relationship with your Jaguar is sounding a bit like mine with my MGB GT! Trust that is, not getting in and out. ;)

They make a special expanding foam containing helium they inject into all the cavities and chassis rails of those transit recoveries...

They certainly are NOT exempt from weight limits. Some of them chose to ignore them though.

I think his post had a tone of sarcasm in it. ;)

It might be worth chucking them an email, I’m sure they would be happy to help you out.

Not used one but someone dropped this name at one point: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Durite-0-703-99-Terminal-Extraction-De-Mounting-Removal-Tools-Remover/121830001851?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Seen locally a Hyundai Matrix for sale - giffered but it's cheap and a dizzler. Anyone on here had any experience with them? Apart from making sure it stops starts and steers safely, any known major issues with them? Aside from them being (more than likely) extremely dull

Is it the 3 or 4 pot diesel?  Both are 1.5 and nominally similar power, but the 4 pot is quicker and more economical.  The VM triple is much more Autoshite though.

CV joints - fitting of.  I've got the kit ready to go on the Audi, but I'm slightly confused by the little spring clip which goes over the driveshaft to hold it in to the joint.  As far as I can ascertain, one fits the clip to the driveshaft first, and then basically twats the CV joint on over the top of it.  Is this correct?  It doesn't seem very scientific.

I think it's the triple being a 2002 model.

That’s exactly what you do. Check the circlip fits snug on the driveshaft, line the splines up and twat it on with a copper faced hammer. Don’t forget to put the boot on first!
