Well it made me smile. Have you seen an Amazon van that isn't covered in dents? No me neither but this one is particularly impressive.

They must have found a very low and narrow bridge.

Admittedly coming from a postman this is very much pot kettle black but most of our vans are over ten years old. Amazon drivers seem to have got their vans in to the same state in a matter of months.

not a PRIME example then ?

you know when some one is a twat at work and every one finds them out , but nothing cane be done ...

well my old manager got in touch the other day and I called in for a chat , they are having a bad time ....  re above..

so we had a chat and a visitors name got dropped ( by me ) because I had seen him and he had told me why he stopped visiting ..

because twat mentioned above took on  them selves to tell him not to bother visiting anymore , so I dropped this little snippet in the lug hole

great being retired and no ex work twat can touch you :-)  ,

anyway manager went ballistic ..

so later on twat  finds out I have visited and wanted to know why , got told because I might come back and be their boss !!

I may offer to go for the job the twat wants ( not that I want it ) but just to stir the shyte up a bit ..

as Khan said ... revenge is a dish best served cold ..

The ones in my area are absolutely battered after about 3 months . It’s mind bending how bad their driving must be . And I used to work on White Arrow vans 😂

There's a 72 plate Boxer used as a DPD hack near me that's battered to shit even worse than that. Scrapes down to the metal and even starting to go rusty. One of the rear quarters are caved in!

All the "squad" of DPD drivers around here must be on crazy targets because they seem to treat the local roads as a dodgem ground!

Fuck me they had some really rough vans at our local depot. I always thought Citylink and White Arrow had the roughest fleet, but Amazons making me rethink that!

Which version, tho?

The original doesn’t sound right any more without the Chubby Brown additions . Similarly I was flicking through the channels and looked at the 60s music channel (Freeview 75) and it was Neil Diamond singing Sweet Caroline in 1969. No audience participation (so good , so good etc) , just didn’t sound right.

On the way out of Leamington Spa yesterday, I passed two posties in a 58-plate Corsavan, which - other than being completely pogweaseled - didn't look in bad shape for nearly fifteen years.

I've been getting myself organised with projects here and making plans to get stuff done in the most pragmatic way I can.  Lots of house projects have been wrapping up finally, leaving us with the more expensive ones to save up for.  With the cars, I've made the decision to sell the Maestro probably next year (don't all rush at once) by which point all the cosmetic jobs I'd like to do on it should be done and it should be a reasonably well sorted little car for someone to continue to enjoy.  For now, Maestro is on SORN as a money saving exercise, I've cut back on everything non-essential to try and speed up the savings accumulation, especially given how terrible a month April was for work this year.  Most things I need are in walking distance, so having the Maestro off the road for a couple of months will save me a bit of cash since I won't be taxing it, putting fuel in it, or going on those impulse drive-and-shop treks when I want a little retail therapy.

With the Lanchesters, the donor is almost fully stripped now and weather permitting should be fully stripped this weekend.  The other Lanchester is just waiting to come out of the garage so I can get some of it put back together after the woodworm saga and get moving with the next stage of work I'd hoped to have been doing while the donor has been getting worked on.  I'm really hoping this is the year we get the main Lanchester sorted out and actually drive the thing on the road, it's taken far too long to get as far as we have.  Such is the nature of these things.

Princess I'm planning to make my main transport again.  Realistically, it's the car I always go back to and does everything I need, even more so since moving South and finding I need to drive even less than ever before.  I just keep getting distracted by a second/third car, my time and money resources get stretched too thin, and the important jobs get put off again.  What I want to do is sort out the last few bits of bodywork, send the engine off for a rebuild (£1000-1,500), and get the suspension treated the same (£750+).  Then I can finally do the paintwork and maybe even get it a much needed new windscreen.  I reckon I need to sink a couple of grand into the Princess to get it where I want it, definitely more than it's worth, and I'm okay with that.  It's not a car I want to move on, it's the only car I've ever been totally happy with.  I have a loose idea of putting aside a new-financed-car payment aside every month which I reckon would be more than enough to keep the Princess in fine fettle and perhaps even pay other people to do work on it for me so I don't have to.  Really, if I hadn't kept buying other cars and just focused on the Princess it would be finished nicely by now instead of being in a constant state of not-quite-done.

Speaking of Princess bodywork, after ten years of looking for one I finally found a rear arch panel for sale.  Timing was terrible, I'm supposed to be saving not spending, but like the Lanchester donor sometimes the right thing turns up at the wrong time and you just have to make it happen.  Here's hoping it arrives in the post no problem because it's going to save me a lot of grief when I come to repair the rear arch, especially that complicated bunch of curves that make up the lower trailing edge.

Coming out of my mums earlier and I saw this one with the roof all bent in the other side.

Could it be the same one? Yes it is!

That's really special. I'm now imagining a very narrow arch bridge. The fact there's a bit in the middle where the frame is that's not bent like rest would actually suggest a low branch. So he did one side on the way in and the other on the way out. As for the body side, that was something nice and sharp.

I watched a guy take a parcel into a shop, made a nice neat job of reversing into the bay outside the shop

Came out, jumped in, start and go, only he turned left too soon and took a bollard out with the side of the van

They might have a licence but they have no idea how to drive a large van

Yep, 21 plate Amazon van delivered to work the other day and was completely mullered down both sides.

Took a short cut earlier as a road was closed, wasn't entirely suitable for the Focus but made it through (just).  Took a more sensible route home.

Looks in far better condition on the street view pictures.

Check the bottom arm bushes! They're a bastard for debonding and causing just that, and they don't last long. I'm often replacing them on Fiat 500s with 30k miles...

They debond from behind and it's not always easy to spot
