  1. https://www.saabits.com/ are always a good shout...... there's a discount code knocking about on the UkSaab forum for 10% off. 4SSXWZ
  2. Another years ticket for the Volvo...... Has had the same advisory for 3yrs, thought I had sorted it before this test but may* have misremembered offside and nearside 🫢.. Cambelt and swirl flap replacement will be next on the cards.
  3. Just had a look on Autotrader for new cars between £35-40k...... It doesn't get you much for all that cash! I had a Merc Cla as a courtesy car a while ago and that was quite nice (1.3 turbo auto), just comes in under budget. I would have guessed it would be nearer 30k though.
  4. A couple of interesting spots from around the Atherton area....... I drive past these occasionally on the way to work.
  5. These do some quite entertaining shite reviews in amongst other content and it works well (imo anyway)
  6. Alternative brand which I think tend to be a bit more compliant than some .... https://psbushings.co.uk/
  7. I reckon they are a subtle attempt to piggyback on the proud name and quality reputation of Landsail!
  8. Is there anywhere that shows what percentage of test result in pass/ fail?
  9. Garage stock topped up. Makes an oil and filter change on the Up! about £12 (with a decent VW/ Mann filter too 😉).
  10. Sorry to hear there are a few bits causing issue 😕 I never knew the Saab had HK speakers...... as I have the old rear door in my garage I thought I would see if it has a suitable replacement for you, it's still HK but unfortunately possibly the least inspiring looking speaker imaginable! (you are of course still welcome to it free of charge if it will provide a temporary solution) Edit: I think the rear speaker mounting looks to be smaller than the front ones so won't fit. Probably not much of a loss.
  11. Autoshite....... your bowel movements are our concern 💩😮📸. (Look forward to seeing the results of this thread, vehicular that is).
  12. Agree.... I changed my Saab 9-5 Aero for an Up! partly as I fancied a change and as I thought it would be good to reset my benchmark for size and performance. It's perfectly adequate for most tasks especially as the majority of my driving is the daily commute. Did a few 200 mile trips which were OK but not really what it is best at. £20 tax and around 55mpg, servicing is easy DIY and costs buttons. These are popular for new drivers so need to be a little bit wary of prev write offs!
  13. One thing worth checking out on these (as well as the Noob map) is the seal around the cabin air intake...... this is under the windscreen scuttle panel and water drains past it, the seal decomposes and water can then flow freely into the floor carpet. I removed and resealed with some heavy duty roofing mastic when I had mine.
  14. When that happened to me in a Saab it was down to a broken ABS reluctor ring, fingers crossed for a simple fix.
  15. If you can, I would suggest taking the skirt off to get access to more of the lower panel. Acts as a bit of a dirt and moisture trap. Just be careful with the fasteners as they are quite easy to snap.....
  16. This emphasises the issue with the demise of proper local neighbourhood teams and volume crime units, whilst the footage may not show a face it will show clothing and this could link to other similar offences in the area, crime series, intelligence reports etc etc..... At the very least the footage should be secured and retained. Police contact centre staff are unlikely to have any investigative experience or interest in detecting crime. For a few years a lot of forces wouldn't attend residential burglaries routinely (although a crime scene investigator would), this rightly triggered a backlash and the expectations have now shifted to physical attendance at all reports. A small number of prolific offenders are responsible for a disproportionately high amount of crime..... the dismissive attitude shown above is how they get away with it. (rant over)
  17. Check the gearbox torque mount.... has been polybushed but a bolt came loose before I sold it. Caused a clunk on reverse and when coming to a stop, I tightened it to spec but wonder if a bit of locktight might be in order. Fab photos 😍
  18. I can't remember if I have had the rear hubs off during my ownership..... they may be one of the few things that didn't need any love! Iirc they are a bolt on hub rather than a separate bearing that needs pressing in although a sizeable persuader may be required to get them free. Glad my big tin of copper slip was effective 😉. For the brakes I used a set of three different greases from Proslip which last for ages and do seem to be decent. https://amzn.eu/d/4nZDwJ8 Handbrake cables were replaced around 2016 (remember the year as had to get a local garage to sort as my knee was fubared and couldn't do any DIY). Happy roadtrip..... Scotland's quiet fast and winding roads are perfect for the 9-5 in my opinion.
