Must be a pretty boring day then ;)

Tonight's grin for me is this

It must be intentional.

Just watched S3E1 and it's the same formula but better as they've got rid of the celebrity bit, it also makes me want a V8 more.

Pretty sure Amazon have done that on purpose.

Went to Tenterden Garden centre with my mother, daughter & wife (we know how to live!). That's not the grin though, just as we got out of the car, I heard something that sounded great changing down for the sharp bend and looked up to see it was a yellow Lotus Elite type 14!

Fuck me, an actual apology!!!   I thought the season for miracles was behind us.

We live in very strange times. I’ve just seen boris Johnson denying it was him in a recording read back to him.

Idly looking on eBay at 2cv adverts as you do. 342fa6da4f918d1b6b153ee87ce3795a.jpg

That very advert is why my local group is the Thames tortoises.

*Newer smoke meters have an obd connection so it can see that you revved as instructed but no smoke came out.

Surely that is encroaching on the MOT test restriction of no intrustion/disassembly/interrogation of the vehicle? Any decent smoke meter should be able to tell if the engine was actualy revved or not due to the increase in flow of exhaust gasses. I think plugging into an OBD port is crossing a line.

Before you know it, it'll be an MOT check item to plug in, and if there are any fault codes present that will be a fail.

Too late, already have to fail things if the engine light is on.

Also, the smoke tester was designed in the days of mechanical pumps and injectors so it literally isn't sensitive enough to see the smoke from a common rail engine in good condition, hence the rpm/obd fudge.

Also, I can access the obd port without dismantling anything.

I'm pretty sure on the Vectra C I had some dismantleage of the centre console was required to access the OBD port.

It should be accessible from the drivers seat, but can be behind a cover or bit of trim.

Given testers can't remove side skirts or child seats, how do they go about interior trim? How long until the first claim that a tester broke a bit of trim and the whole interior needs to be replaced?

My brother works for a large Chinese company and has to make regular trips there. He returned from one trip this week and has to go over again at the end of next week. One of the head honchos has requested he takes the making of his favourite drink, as the UK has the best in the world. Hea has requested some Earl Grey from Fortnum and Mason.

Yes, my brother is taking tea to China! :-)

I take it you are aware of the fake OBD ports you can fit to transits whilst hiding the proper one away? They're to stop people stealing them quite as easily.

Standard advise was to wire every pin of the fake to 12v live to fuck the thieves device up.

A new owner taking one in for the first time might well not be aware of it to warn you.

Just had my 8" extension bar replaced under guarantee, 9 years after I bought it.

The end sheared off, a clean brittle fracture with none of the nippling you get when the metal twists up like toffee. Just, crack. I reckon it was over-hardened.

Place doesn't even carry GM tools any more, got a "Power Torque" equivalent. Lifetime guarantee though.

Not bad considering I couldn't find my receipt.

Also don't forget that Kiltox van will be of the age with a DPF, so even less stuff chucked out the back to be registered.

On the MOT blog site they mentioned they were thinking of reading the VIN through the OBD port too. However I posed a question in the comments section on those cars that have had a ECU/body computer/etc swap - i.e. someone has lost the keys/ECU died/etc and used an ECU swap set.

I might give the new season a go. Was really excited when we got prime last month to watch the last season's. However I got through around a quarter of them and found it to be genuinely quite boring. :|

The UK news has stopped reporting on the "Gillet Jaune" protest movement, so you would be forgiven for thinking the once a week protest in Paris is over. The small rural town I am at is typical of most of France, and on a cold, wet Saturday morning, this is the scene at the local supermarket. Good natured and cheerful protesters....

Driving into town today I see something blue on the side of the road. Ooohhhhh tarpaulin says I. On the way back with junior crusty I see it's still there. Pull over have a look (if there was a dead body in it I would have shit myself!) Only a virtually new unholed tarp!

Kids now think I'm crazy picking shite up off the side of the road, but who doesn't need more tarps????

Son has just been to ASDA and was refused his attempt to buy booze.

He's 36 and works for ASDA :)

They did let him have it after a 'staff meeting' and him showing his company discount card.

Youngest daughter often gets carded but she is only 34 :)

This was much the same for me into my forties. Must be something to do with my moisturising régime....
