Fiat 500 with that red and yellow badge on it pulls alongside me (in the wrong lane) to go around a roundabout junction and take the second left exit. You know the race is on. The touring performed well.

Surely 50pence would have been far cheaper?

Depends, I got about 400 cards for the cost of 60 from sainsburys, and eva is very happy

I had a beer or 3 after my grump post earlier... Another reason I said no to sainsburys, not walking in the rain, far too fat and lazy for that

Spotted a lovely D plate Astra 1.6 diesel Merit outside the Tesco today, it had just started up and was chucking a load of clag out of the back. Proper grim.

Sad as I am I looked it up when I got back. 30k from new but recent advisory on test for fractured inner structure sounded bizarre.

Is that one of the Vauxhall's that were prone to bulkhead cracking?

Erm.... Videos please!

I'll do one & we can compare

When did you ever worry about wasting cash?

All the time! I get a fright everytime my Credit Card bill comes through the post.

It’s motherfucking race day again ! Last one in the season for me .

Every ride I’ve done this year has been a race . Couple of big ones too , Snowrun in Feb and Dawn til Dusk in Aug .

Started the year with a wife at home mind !

Oh well , bikes were here first .

Amazon's computer that sets the prices went carcrazy again today. Just bought discs, pads, oil filter and belts for the blue Tagora, all brand items, for a grand total of 16,16€ shipping included. :-D :-D

(if I had the Photoshop Skillz id remove "AC" as "your argument is invalid" is more "classic", and there would be the fun of the receiver of the meme having to figure out what the hell is in the picture :) )

Found my old Honda S-MX at Goodwood this morning. Which was nice. It's far tidier now!

Absent friends meet again. I wonder if you'll ever see your Daimler or Bluebird again?

Quite a few things from the last couple of days. Some belong in Spotted's Spottings, which is well overdue an update, but for simplicity I'm going to bung them all here as they collectively added up to A Good Weekend.

Rearrange the letters to give a popular address with Rover K-Series owners.

Something of a WTF moment when I saw this in the car park at Foxhall (Unlimited Banger world final). It was initially the peaked nose I glimpsed, then the rest of it came into view. Apparently a 19** Daimler Sovereign, surely it must be a known car?

Edit: Registration airbrushed out, I don't want there to be any discussion/supposition about its ID.

I shan't post pic's of the racing, but there was some obscure stuff in action like Mazda RX8 and Eunos Cosmo amongst the Scorpios, Merc's, Volvos and assorted Americana.

This thing has been out of use all summer after a brake warning light came on and I had too much stuff going on to bother getting it sorted (and other cars to use). Finally got it round to the garage - the handbook had suggested much worse/imminent death but the warning light ended up being for just a brake light being out (oops/blush) but the calipers did need freeing-up and the fluid got changed so it's all set for winter now. It could do with a set of tyres, thinking of getting a set of winter jobbies on my spare set of steels which would make it very useable - it's a bit of a faff having to top-up three of them every few days. What was the site that sold cheap ones?

Even so, driving it down to Ipswich last night reminded me how much I like the old thing and why I persevere with it. It has slightly less power than my 1.8 petrol Avensis but feels so much torquier(?). With grotty weather on the way the Sunny will see much less use so it should come into its own on those days when I want a change from the Avensis.

Found this when taking daughter to her friend's. I first saw it yesterday, but couldn't resist a trip back there today in the Sunny for a period correct photo (in itself a good excuse for a very pleasant country drive in the early autumn sunshine). The MoT site says it'd only done 35k at its last MoT and it looks pretty tidy. I shall be leaving a note/trying to track down its owner.....

Then went to view that local Sunny as seen on the eBay tat thread. Friendly lad selling it, let me go for a drive - feels as tight as mine (it has even lower mileage, 36k vs. 44k) and it has more more toys and a plusher interior. Bodywork will need a few issues addressing however - it's what mine would have looked like if I'd let it go for another year or two. Left still happy with my one (but still thinking about that 323).

And finally....

First saw this rarity a year or so back. Obviously unused for many years. Hadn't seen it again until.....

Today, complete with registration telling us it's been untaxed since 1985. Even then it'd have been an unusual sight.

Daimler - not a chance. I imagine it's been crushed. Bluebird has fallen on hard times, but it sounds like a rescue plan is afoot.

Not a proper grin just yet but prepping for my interview going ok.

Just walked up and down the garden chain smoking and doing a presentation in my head. Considering I was doing it off pat with no notes, I felt relatively comfortable with the material and salient points. Not too bad all in all but still work to do. Progress though, two days ago I didn’t know any of this stuff and today I am feeling like a bit of an old hand. Not letting the confidence get too uncontrolled though.

Provided the black dog can stay in its kennel for a few more days I reckon I might be in with half a chance.

This week I will be finishing my current contract which is another way of saying that this week I will be online and doing a few calls to give the impression of activity whilst reading and reading and reading for the interview.

Lpg 56.9ppl at Sainsburys Watford WD25, saved £20 filling the van, cheapest I've seen for ages!

M1 diversion off at 25 to 24 then m25 buggered at j9 meant a 4 hour journey turned into a 6 hour epic though:(

Sainsbury's North Watford is consistently the cheapest. I get my diesel there.
