I've somehow lived in scotchland for near thirty years and managed to avoid trying it :)

Money Supermarket.  Specifically, the dancing Action Men ad.  It's littered with subtle little touches.

Also, Winston Wolf for Direct Line.  Stroke of genius.

I've never sampled it, but I imagine something like Vimto with a meths chaser.

Three gins in, MrsDC lets slip she would really like a Mk3 Zodiac. Or Mk3 Zephyr 6, at a pinch.

Noted. Very fucking noted.

There's something about owning a relatively rare original car that makes you look at eBay ads like this and go 'Hmmmm'...even when part of you knows it's luuuuuuuudicrously expensive for paper with 'Vauxhall' written on it.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Omega-MV6-3-0i-V6-24v-1997-98-UK-Market-Foldout-Sales-Brochure/173307849618

Yup, I'm getting this one instead...

It's a year since I sold my Rover 200, my first car.

I sold it with a fresh ticket, and it's got another year's MOT. Clean pass too.

I wonder how the arch rot is, it'd blown through the filler last time I saw it.

Very happy to learn that the timing belt tensioner for a Ford Sierra does indeed look similar enough to that fitted to a Princess that I should be able to use one to cure my current squealing one for about £30.  Of course, I'm going to have a look in my spares and see if I really do have one like I think I do because that's free and definitely fits.

Curious. SWMBO just pointed out a car that's for sale that I'm allowed to have.

The Renault would have to go.

But, the car in question is Junkman approved, so there's that...

I take it you only brought the chateau pont des manteaux in from the swingpark to photograph it?

55 years in Lanarkshire and never tasted it.

Sitting in a French holiday house with sun rising on what looks like a warm, dry day, editing photos of the automotive rubbish I've seen so far and listening to a load of old-ish, small, sporty-sounding cars being enthusiastically driven on an early-morning run. Don't know what they are, but they sound great echoing through the valley.

Rest of the family in bed, but this friendly little thing has come to keep me company:

Some good stuff seen already - as ever, it's frustrating what I've missed getting photos of but the camera has already been fairly active. Hoping that a trip out on a sunny Sunday will see some old things out and about.

Being in France has made me think of Dave and his life here.

Until a week or two ago it seemed far from definite that this holiday would happen, so I'm incredibly grateful we've managed to get away at all let alone to somewhere so pleasant. My Mum was taking ill a few weeks back and ended up having heart surgery. So lots of hospital visits and general help with my Stepdad. Fortunately she's now at home and making a good recovery, and he's doing well at looking after her, so that's a good reason for a grin in itself.

This put a grin on my face!

Was surprised when they were able to look these up on the parts system...

Was even more surprised when this packet actually arrived along with the more standard service parts.

How many companies could find you a couple of lenses for the dashboard of a van that's not been made since 1995?

Never mind the fact that they treated me like royalty in their glossy dealership, despite my turning up in a crusty old van!

Sorry if you already know but the little lenses are probably shaped to only go in and out one way, we use very similar at work and folk break them with brute force. If they're the same the edges on the long side are shaped.

Great to hear that your mum is on the mend. :)

I'm easily amused, I was out earlier and was driving behind a Citroen Picasso which had the back window labelled up as an advert for an auto-electrician, the amusement being that only the high level brakelight was working.

Yes, animals do have regional accents. Apparently plants do too.

Cavcraft's spamming of his Honda for sale has just lead me to a pleasant hour-ish of a "90's revival" listening to 30 something and 1992.

Had a bit of a stressfull day yesterday.

This occurred:

Summer meet of the Kent branch of the TVR owners club.

But why the stress?

Because I foolishly agreed to do a bbq for 35 people all to be ready at 2 pm.

It turned out alright though:

I was wearing one of my best brown neckties today and someone asked me “Do you have any fashionable ties?

So I decided to review my “regular rotation” necktie collection:

And determined I own at least 16 fashionable neckties.

And if you were wondering, the green and orange ones are very, very wide and the penguins on the right are dressed as Freemasons.

I agree, my cat is definitely from NE Scotland. She sounds like a grumpy bastard.

My dog is Cypriot.  I'm sure that's why she doesn't obey at least 50% of the commands I give her...
