Three gins in, MrsDC lets slip she would really like a Mk3 Zodiac. Or Mk3 Zephyr 6, at a pinch.

Noted. Very fucking noted.

….and it only takes gin for this to happen?

Popped over to Bute for the day to do a spot of bird watching.

One bird in particular

A blue one.

Fantastic. I planned to be there for it too but somehow plans changed.

As most of you probably know I work in the care sector, there's a chap who lives at my workplace who worked for rover back in the day as a test driver on track who I always chat with about old cars etc, yesterday he seemed unsettled so I suggested I get him out for a walk, we had a great chat about his time track testing the new cars for rover, I asked him if he remembered the mgf mule and he told me what he could remember about it and that it was a bit of fun, he was also telling me about the time he got a trip to America out of them when they were trying to set a speed record, it's a real shame this guy has got dementia and can't remember lots because of his experiences, there is even a picture in his room of him next to an mgf he was track testing, while we were out there was a civic with a loud exhaust and he commented that it sounded like a soggy fart.

Sort of Grump and smile really.  Turned out of a road into one that's two lanes wide but one way to encounter a geezer in an Audi Q3 coming towards me.  He didn't seem to understand me waving and pointing to the one way sign.  I got out and told him he couldn't go that way as it's a one way street - he said he was "new here".  The grin was that a copper on foot just rounded the corner as our debate was taking place - and gestured to the chap to pull over for a chat.

There's never a copper around when .......oh yes there is actually.

There's a friend of my mum's that is a lovely kindly bloke and keen cyclist. I always wave whenever I see him in the local area. We're all going to the big cycle jumble at Manchester Velodrome on the weekend.

My mum's just told me he has a Roman Bronze mk1 Granada Ghia

Today I have ooo mini Shrimp to see the new Teen Titans film in Batley.

It is the most funny thing I've seen in ages. A cartoon from a TV series that's funnier then 99% of the supposed comedy films I've had to suffer.

Got about £600k worth of network kit delivered at work today.

What did it arrive in? An unmarked 56 reg Transit with 200k on the clocks. It looked like every single one of those 200k miles were done backwards, upside-down, through a building site. The driver took 3 attempts to get it into reverse. It even had a lovely big patch of grey primer just in front of the left rear arch.

I suppose it's a form of stealth? :D

Our refuse bin was emptied today, we forgot to put it out before we went away two weeks ago, so missed the collection.

So it hasn't been emptied for a month in some very hot weather.

Won't be making that mistake again... Until next time

Bought some magnetic bowls and trays. No more bolts and nails rattling round the place, they are awesome! Caught a wasp in a length of 22mm pipe as it fucked about on the window pane. It's buzzing resonated through the pipe and made some weird base line, wwaa wa. Opened the window and let it go, getting soft in my old age.

I think some of the best companies can be real cheapskates on stuff like that, when I was at Astra-Zeneca we used to get deliveries from a specialist chemical company, the stuff we were getting was all over £500 for a 1ml vial over twenty years ago. A £5k order would fit in the palm of your hand. They always arrived in a beat up old escort van. It was red and rust coloured, I wondered if it was ex PO. One of us had to go up to the gate to sign for it immediately as it was delivered chilled (in a bucket of dry ice basically) and the guy would always have a fag going when you got up there and was scruffiest person I think I have ever seen short of the BBC homeless shelter on Christmas Day reports.

TBH both those vans sound ideal for hi value deliveries where the driver is never out of the vehicle. Nobody seeing it would suspect they had mega money deliveries on board.

Translation: NRNA = AA, RAC etc.

And the best bit is, I needed a new hat!

My daughter who is ten years old put me on to this - if you ask Siri "what's zero divided by zero" - you get this -

“Imagine that you have zero cookies and you split them evenly among zero friends.

How many cookies does each person get? See? It doesn’t make sense.

And Cookie Monster is sad that there are no cookies, and you are sad that you have no friends.”

Credit where its due, Lastpass support have been incredibly helpful getting my account sorted after my 2FA fail yesterday. I pay them no money, yet within 24 hours they have me up and running again.

Admittedly their account recovery questions are hardcore. Last 2 IP addresses you accessed it from? 5 specific sites you use LP to store passwords in? Time and date and IP address of the last place you logged into LP from?

Luckily I knew all of these and more, but they were very helpful and I now have access again which is a relief. I also managed to find the option to export all stored sites and logon details which I've got encrypted and stored somewhere else now, plus a recovery key for when I ham it up next time.

top marks Lastpass.

Next time someone asks you why IP addresses could constitute Personal Data, now you know why ;)

I've just had a lift in a Russet Brown Austin Maxi.

It was quiet & smooth, bar a bit of transmission shunt, and the bloke driving never had to fight for the gears once.

Was impressed.

Wife reported that 200,000 mile minivan was 'getting a bit hot and the AC wasn't working'.  When i finally got round to looking at it last night there was coolant around the radiator seams and no sign of mayo.  So a new rad appears to be in its future not the scrapyard with HGF which is making me happy today as it's been a great old bus.

The guest ale in this east Austrian pub is Fuller's London's Pride.

Posted

Watching The One Show earlier, they had an article on cinema usherettes and it bought back a happy memory from 50 years ago

My mum took me to the cinema to see Dumbo , I'd be about 5 or 6 , during the interval the usherette came round with the ice creams , my mum asked if I'd like one so we went up and queued

When we got to the front I took one look at the girl and said at the top of my voice , MUM why has she got a sink round her neck .

Shouldn't that be a grump?

Having spent a week in Spain drinking dross Mahou and Cruzcampo I was relieved to see pride on tap when I got to Gibraltar..... it was bloody fizzy! Absolutely rank.

Hopefully the Austrians know whats what.

No idea I was drinking German beers as I'm over here.

Austria/Germany is the same place right?
