What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Having just taken the wife and daughter for a weekend to Bridgnorth and Ironbridge, I fully recommend them.

Having just driven a double deck bus to Ironbridge - It's not a bad place.

Also my father lives in Broseley so I'm a fairly regular visitor to both.

I moved house last week :)

This is definitely a big grin as I'd been renting a pretty basic flat for six months since 'the split'

And even more of a grin because the new house has a garage

so let's have a look inside :

hmm, maybe not - no keys supplied

and what's this ? some loon has sealed the door up with mastic

post-4462-0-06881400-1462548530_thumb.jpeg

ok, we'll use the side door instead :

this wall is where there should be a large car sized hole :(

obviously I knew about this when I viewed the house but let's see how much work I have ahead of me

fetch the hammer and chisel

post-4462-0-20711800-1462548709_thumb.jpeg

looking good so far, let's keep going

post-4462-0-90296900-1462548847_thumb.jpeg

breaking out the bread knife to deal with that mastic

and we have a result :)

post-4462-0-12728800-1462548942_thumb.jpeg

for the first time ever, I get to park (and more importantly work on) my car in a nice warm, dry garage (maybe not dry just yet, looking at the damp patches on those walls)

Driving the Mazda. It is a bloody riot to hoon about in. The dollop feels sooooo very serious to drive. Yes, it's very fast (much faster than the Mazda) and can be driven like a real weapon, but to do so feels 'wrong'.

The Mazda is noisy, bouncy, rattly and quite uncomfortable (for a cripple) but it really does make me chuckle. It just feels so childish and immature and begs to be thrashed. So I do....

Great little thing.

oh yes, the house is ok too :)

It would never even have occurred to me to ask!

Nice garage 8)

And here's me thinking gm's garage was going to be one of those comedy short ones that are 6' long.

couldn't agree more - I've just been out in mine, somehow a quick trip to the supermarket took two hours :)

I have the Land Rover back, it's never been this quiet in my ownership, stealth Land Rover, not really, but it no longer sounds like a tractor. I got a lift down to pick it up from a former colleague so called in to my old workplace, bumped into another recent retiree who has purchased a nice sensible car for retirement, an XKR Jaguar

Kinky girl has been trying to get me to go on a national holidays dismal coach holiday. Fortunately she didn't specify which or when. So hmmm, supposed to be nice this weekend. What's on special offer? Ironbridge & severn valley railway, £60 off? That'll do! Oh Sweetie, I've booked us a lovely* holiday....

Its lovely. Top tip, all the car parks are linked, so one ticket covers them all. I was almost pissed off after we visited all the sites and bought a car park ticket in each then read the sign, but the money goes to the places so I felt good.

Eva was conceived that weekend, infact possibly that night, so good luck! I drove around in a 2010 zafira though, so maybe that did it re the kids...

I've got the big excites. I've just discovered that this is happening this weekend in town.

plakat2016_zpsnet9axha.jpg

It's the Pista (circuit) Veliko Turnovo - essentially rally cars doing circuit racing around town. It has gained almost mythical status for me because I've managed to completely miss it the last couple of years I've been here even though it's a 15 minute walk from my front door (which is in the background of the above image).

I've been studying the course map to work out the best places to view from.

I have cleared 6GB worth of camera memory cards in preparation and sorted out my motorsport watching kit.

From the online pictures and videos of previous events there seems to be a nice variety of stuff that takes part.

The forecast is for rain all weekend which could liven things up. Or slow things down. I dunno.

All I have to do now is try to get a relatively early night (already failing) and to try not to drink all my motorsport booze tonight (not doing too well at that either).

If anyone is really really bored, copy and paste пиÑта велико търново in to Youtube to see some videos of previous years.

I'm going to sell some of my Vacuum cleaners and either buy a new car, or pay for shitefest if I manage to fix mine and fall back in love with it. Already had interest in my Hoover Compacts, hopefully £100-£130 there!

Not selling the Turbopowers though, no way!

This morning I visited my local Mercedes Emporium to pick up a new brake pedal rubber. The Parts dept. used to be a little door round the back of Service, not anymore.

I had to go in the showroom to a little area called ' Mercedes Collection'

I was amused by the number of different models on display and the number of chavvy hipsters looking at the garish, big wheeled hatchbacks and crossovers that had £299 per month emblazoned down the side.

There were some attractive elegant saloons - standard spec C,E and S Classes and a lovely big Coupe, what was the CL , God knows what they cal it now, what I do know is that it was £98,000 !

One of the fugly SUV things had 315/40x19 tyres- essential for a diesel shopping car obviously.

The best thing, was thispost-17414-0-12176600-1462629064_thumb.jpeg

Yes, you can match your nail varnish to your GAL GMA USV

I've just spent the day watching scrutineering and practice for this, it was as good as I'd hoped. Roll on race day 2moz.

Full report/pictures/waffle/turgidity to come, probs in my spotty arsed thread or summat.

In the mean time . . . . . .

Just sold a dc07 to a bloke who came and picked it up in a 16 plate range rover, paid with a 50 note and said it was for one of his bed and breakfasts, and to keep his number and let him know of any more I have! Which is nice

Well, he probably didn't get to afford a Range Rover by buying fancy new vacuum cleaners.
