Today I was clearing out my daughters Ignis, its going away to be pulled to bits, the buyer wants the hubs apparently, I wish him luck.

I digress, in the glove box was a sheaf of old MOT's and it failed last time on "High level brake light inoperative" which seemed odd its such a poverty spec car it doesn't have one or so I thought.

When I opened the boot to see if there were any things worth keeping in with the spare wheel well I noticed a dangling wire where there would be a high level brake light.

I stuck a meter on it out of curiosity and it worked, well it would have if all the bits were there.

The last owners were so bloody tight they threw away the entire brake light fitment, rather than change a bulb.

Mum found my old Norwich and Peterborough savings book. I wonder how my £1.02 is doing, last activity printed is Jan 2001.

I phoned them up and the chap cut me short and said he couldn't help me, as it pre-dates phone banking, so no security has been set. I've posted it off to their head office to see if I'm a millionaire or not. Not bloody driving all the way to peterborough to find out!

The sun is out, George has decided to cure himself of the Basset Dickheaditis he's been having and I've just found out that the forester's sunroof is working. (opening AND closing, it's a miracle Jim!)

Life is going my way for once.

The good folks of Pistonheads and Retro Rides are lapping up Vectra SRi posts..

One car to unite them all;)

seriously thou, its nice to experience some rational chitchat, anecdotes and advice on said forums - very little fire/brimstone in evidence for once.

Still here about every 20mins for my fill of high class old choddery though-even starting to develop some weird 605 feelings..but reminding myself of the CX is helping me control them

Phone call from one of our drillers, think the wheel bearing has gone on the rig.

Just renewed the insurance policy on the Prelude. It has been off the road for a while as not used and up for sale....

Last premium was £140. Compare the meerkat gave a premium of £69 with the same company. Needless to say I took it!

Seems Ford are supplying some new Focuses and Mondeos with poundland-spec giffer wheeltrims as standard. They look flaming worse than the Rover "we're going bust so we just popped out to Halfords for these" jobs, if they intended it as a reason to pay £750 more for the next model up in the range it would work on me. Look!

Oi. Bloody cheek. That's my company car spec.

They have been fitting them since 2013 but hardly anyone bought them.

(Yes, they do look crap).

Was just looking through facebook and someone posted this image of the Dave sexton, the Coventry city manager after he departed his job, a tagora no less. mind you Coventry were sponsored by Talbot in those days.

Knackered GPO Maxxus with Chinese Lexus light (plural) made me grin - I guess it's a SAIC part.

I replaced all the hoses, clips, stat and the radiator cap on the Rover and by jove I think the overheating issue may be fixed.

I took it out for a good blast tonight no weird clunking, gurgling or steam shooting out from under the bonnet. I'll need to take it for a decent spin.

red hot hose pictures on the internet.

Probably need to do something about this. I replaced the gasket on the autobox, which was defo leaking but I was in a hurry and I think I over tightened it and squished the rubber gasket.

I was all set for selling it  but it's got a years MOT now somehow, is free to tax and insured for another couple of months so I might as well hold onto it for a bit and see if I can get a bit of use out of it.

Since I changed the plugs and air filters on the dollop, the fuel consumption has improved from 10mpg to 14! Bloody good improvement I reckon!

Aye, if I could get the Saab to go from 50 to 70 mpg just by changing the air filter, I'd be well impressed!

There is a heavy metal concept album about Fife. Why wasn't I told?

http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/gloryhammer/talesfromthekingdomoffife.html

Far to the east, where the land meets the sea
there lies a majestic town
crail is it's name, shrouded in fame
jewel in Fife's noble crown
here, every day, the warriors train
in the art of epic fights
riding on eagles, questing so true
a legion of powerful knights

Emblazoned 'cross the sky
here the kingdom cry

HAIL! TO CRAIL!
mightiest warriors in the land
HAIL! TO CRAIL!
ready to fight with a sword in hand
fighting battles every day
this is why we say
HAIL! TO CRAIL!

In the battle of Cowdenbeath
their steel did win the day
knights of Crail with banners high
riding hard into the fray
once, in the siege of far-off Dunkeld
defeat of the town was nigh
but then came the knights, the warriors of Crail
and all of their foes did die

They've never lost a fight
so we proclaim tonight

I've got to say I've never really seen that side of Crail.

Put the cortina in for a a pre MOT as it runs out next month, he's only gone and tested it.........pass with no advisories. That's two in a row.

Daily fiesta is fucked, so cortina may take over.

I'm going to Switzerland on Wednesday, for a week.

Ms Naut's friend's parents have a chalet in Wengen we can stay in rent-free. Lucky we're not paying for rent because everything else there is bloody expensive!

I shall enjoy shouting at cows for a week to calm myself down. I might spot some interesting chod there too, hopefully.

I like Switzerland, especially that area. Take meat, it's really expensive. Co-op beer is cheap and delicious, so is coffee beans. Very little chod, even in rural areas, mostly old Justys and similar.

Keep an eye out for slices of actual clowns faces at local deli counters.

Wasn't it you who was chasing after this girl on the internet dating thread on the open forums page about 6 months ago? If so, what a difference half a year makes. If you were pushing your luck this much 6 months ago you wouldn't be with her now. Good luck with the holiday BTW!

Yes it's been about 6 months since she took ownership.

It's actually a year to the day today that I first met her. She came to meetup and sat down next to me. I didn't say a word to her, I was concentrating on drinking a chai latte I'd been recommended that was bloody awful. As a proud Yorkshire man I'd paid for it and I was going to drink it.

I should get away with the holiday really. She liked Beamish, and has tolerated the engine museum and visiting the vulcan. I suppose it will have to be a 'romantic' holiday at some point.
