So how do we do that? And dad only has little details that don't help. The answer was her Skoda Felicia which was sold to relatives by her almost 10 years ago. After searching, I found a website where I could search for car models and the start of the registration number as we know that as all cars sold new in that area had PX.

So after a bit of searching I found a pair of red Skoda Felicias with PX registration plates  that were alive after 2014 so logged in and searched the authority database and the first car I looked up was the one she owned and from that I found the name of he she sold the car to and his telephone number and futher investigations and he fits what dad knows. He will be contacted tomorrow.

This was fun and thanks to a Skoda, I have very likely found the relatives we were looking for.

In the UK there is no access to the DvlA database unless you are a parking enforcement company.

The end of year awards dinner and dance for the Rallycross championship I cover for TV - the championship made the very kind gesture of putting up a trophy in memory of my girlfriend and invited me to present it, and everyone had a very enjoyable evening of grub, quizzes and raffles, awards, a Scalextric competition with some great Group B rally car models - and followed of course by an almighty piss-up.
