Just to add to the story of Mother Bungle's Astra, she had this one first, a '91 1.4 GLS manual

Mum Astra 001_zpst6frspub

My mate bought the green one off a little old lady (who lives near my mum) for his wife, as she was having physical problems and needed an auto. My ex bought it for when her mum was visiting the UK, but it just sat on the drive for a year. My mum then decided she would be better off with an automatic, and doesn't do well learning how to use new things, so as the green one is exactly the same spec, just a different colour, it was the ideal choice

I don't have any pics of L510LTW, but it was a 3 door 1.4 L with no PAS

One of the most handsome family cars of the 1990s in my opinion.

Amongst all the OMG snow news  - useful advice about making sure others are OK...

"Weather alert from the UK Health Security Agency.

This is the first amber Cold Weather Health Alert of the season, but we can expect more as we approach winter, and it is vital to check in on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours to ensure they are well prepared for the onset of cold weather.Particularly if they are elderly or otherwise at increased risk."

As I have told the other 29 people that have checked on me,

"I was nice and warm till I had open the bloody door to deal with you nosey buggers!"

Ugh, it's not a good month for our family's cars. Partner's daughter and husband have a motability vehicle, only had it a few months and someone just crashed into it after not looking at a junction

My missus had a green 1.4CD as a company car to replace a 205 1.4GR.

The Astra was a good car but not a patch on the Pug, which was better than my Mk2 GTi in some ways.

Apparently, according to the forecast, it's your turn tomorrow.

I had a result today and picked up a tiny compressor for free. Thought it would be handy for tyres, blowing out screen wash lines etc.

The bigger one I already had is fine, but it’s a bit cumbersome and noisy for dragging up the driveway and using outside the house.

Fascinating break-down of body repairs to a Tesla Cybertruck explained very clearly here. Shows the method of construction.

Notwithstanding the type approval difficulties of bringing the Truck into Europe the repair of these looks very specific and would be something most body shops would need to learn.

Enjoy.

I finally got the big green breaking down machine drivable again. Today is the first day in weeks that I could take it to work instead of the Clio.

The Shetlands don’t get as cold as the mainland being in the middle of the ocean, but have high winds virtually all the time, giving a ferocious wind chill factor. So it might be around freezing but could well feel like -10C or worse.

It was about -5C here in the central belt last night hovering around 0C during the day, no snow but heavy frosts with clear sunny days.

Significantly nicer than the usual 4C but driving wind and rain, which makes outdoors unbearable for months.

Not aided by our boiler running low on pressure overnight and leading it to be 8C in the house when I woke up. 🥶

Naturally it's forecast to be rainy misery for the weekend.

Nothing wrong with Kellys! They were the second line Goodyears, with Lee the budget option.

Kelly holds the title for Loudest Tyre Ever on any car I've owned, back when I first got the Princess and every single tyre was a different brand.  Can't speak for their performance beyond that since handling was done by committee at that time.

Astra engine going back together nicely, added a bit of hylomar stuff between the head and cam carrier as it's always leaked from there. Appeared to have black silicon previously.

New hose has just been delivered to replace the split one, might put off getting coolant up my arm doing the water pump until tomorrow I think

Pic features my mate's hand while he tries to remember exactly where he took that pipe off from!

What is it? A Toyota Duet. 1 litre 3 cyl automatic. Plan is to run it over Christmas before deciding if I want to keep it or not. I’m liking it so far though

Just spent 20 minutes removing an ABS sensor - from a car that doesn't have ABS. Only one wheel had one, together with all the right clips. Must have been fitted from the factory as the car is very original.

Good old MG Rover

I realise this is an old post but I found out what this was. Apologies to MG Rover, it turns out to be a 'rough road' sensor that disables the misfire detection of the ECU. On cars with ABS it takes an input from the ABS ECU but on cars without, it has to use a sensor at a wheel.

Might help someone diagnosing misfires logged on the ECU.

I take it cars masquerading as other cars doesn't cause any issues, theology wise?
