I've got two decent sized garden sheds, but it's safe to say the bigger of the two had become a bit of a mess...

This was mainly the result of half finishing jobs and throwing stuff in the door in a huff. My workbenches were also flimsy and couldn't take a great deal of weight on the shelves. This was stressing me out and making finding tools or anything else an absolute impossibility.

I set about sorting it out in the last couple of weeks. I bought some 15mm ply and made new upper and lower shelves for the workbenches, screwed the existing MDF to the tops as a sacrificial layer and braced them together for solidity. A massive improvement and can store big bottles of oil, heavy tools etc on the bottoms now.

Between this and adding the black Halfords toolbox it has let me get the place squared up:

Some final sorting out to do, but lots of room for activities once again. Going to try and keep this the "clean" shed and set the other one up for any bashing, grinding, cutting, sanding etc as well as storing bikes and garden stuff. With a place for everything now I'm hoping I can prevent a slow descent back to how it was before.

Rest easy, soft lad. I'll try and remember what you taught me: always check the kitchen windows of life because somebody might just throw a sausage out of one.

Really sorry for your loss Jim, from seeing your posts on the dog thread you've obviously done the right thing. You gave him a great life while he was here.

A curious rattle has developed on my Scirocco and not wanting something (else) to fall off I drove it to my specialist yesterday. He has a lowered, GTX 1.8 fuel injected turbo nutter bastard developing about 5,000bhp. Mine is a carb fed 1.6 with 75. Off we went for a test drive and after he'd changed 1st to 4th, because, 'mine's got a different cable-change box' we were off. He kept asking retorically, why was my engine so smooth? Why was the steering so light? the ride so smooth... I continue to think that all this custom, upsized wheels,  slammed to the max, bollocks may not be all it's cracked up to be. Fuck knows what the rattle is. Despite bobbing it on the lift, there was nothing obviously wrong.

My son changed the oil and filter on my Subaru legacy today. We were impressed with the underside which we put down to it being in Japan until 2021. It's almost factory fresh compared with my other cars.

They're is a slight oiliness to the rocker covers so they'll need doing at some point but seems ok for now. It also gradually loses coolant. There's a few drops at the bottom of the coolant reservoir so I think it might have a slight crack although it's hard to tell. The pipes don't seem to be leaking

My son was also impressed with high quality of engineering and design, the way things came undone and how easy it was to remove and replace the underlay. I'm also a fan of the boxer engine noise and smoothness.

I removed the roof bars and bike carriers that came with the car as it's quite unlikely I'll be cycling soon (like 0.001%) and I'm hoping to get the mpg, at a sedate pace on the motorway, to 30 mpg.

You know how sensible people get rid of cars when there’s upwards of 2x of the car’s value in repairs needed?
My Alfa 156 is really at that point. So I did the sensible thing.

Hello 119 injectors and R65 high pressure pump. I’m also looking for 1756VK turbo.

Yes, of course I’m not just fixing it, I’m making it significantly faster. 🙈😄

1756 VK converted to vacuum, with exhaust manifold for 1.9 JTD 8v. Plug and play for my 156.
Eibach Pro Kit to replace 400k km old springs. I’ll get some decent shocks to go with this as well.

Would gentleman like fries with that? 😄

The sat nav is surprisingly good; easy to use and not at all laggy.

1400cc petrol with factory LPG, it goes surprisingly well too

I just spent £39 to watch Ipswich Town get beaten on New Year’s Day. That’s all over in 90 minutes. I reckon that’s probably about right for a whole day out. Only observation is that the discount is so marginal that I’d not bother booking early in case I became ill or got a better offer.

It’s pretty easy as they are all different, you wouldn’t mistake an M2 for anything else.

At least they tamed down the kidney grilles on the M2 to something less garish/more sensible.

Absolute weapon of a car. If anything like my neighbours tuned 2015 M4, it's more than what you ever could use for the road.

Your car has no Mot, you book an appointment for 08:00. You also book a full service wanting to collect at 17:30. You turn up just before 09:00 and park in the way then walk off.

Are you.....

In charge.

A chance to finish what we started in 1974?
Get Billy Bremner in for a few tips

Nah - Archie Gemmill - was in Holland a few years back and they are still celebrating him - maybe a better bet than Bremner given he;s no longer available.....

It is indeed an absolute weapon. Not had much chance to use it in anger yet, but the potential is quite astonishing. If I get bored after the warranty period expires Litchfield can map it to 670bhp for not very much money! So far I’m absolutely delighted with it.

Sorry for your loss Jim. I'm not a dog person (cats FTW) but I met Prif at SF24 and really liked him. And I know he went everywhere with you.

What a coincidence! That's the exact same positions table at the end of the group stage. I'm going to put a bet on.

Do you think you'll be able to bet on the number of times your hear a commentator say “disaster for Scotland “, and will that number be bigger or smaller than the number of times 1966 is mentioned?

Last time I serviced a Focus 1.6 petrol (actually a Mazda 3, but mechanically identical) so little oil got sucked out that I stuck a long wire down the dipstick tube to make sure that my pump's tube hadn't got bent. Less than 1.5 litres.
