😂 I joined when something broke on the camper and never left, it just came up as the top result on the main feed and made me laugh

That's OK - my wife's in loads of FB groups like that and often snorts coffee down her nose at odd times (I don't actually 'do' FB any more - just use Messenger)

Making some progress on the old Lada, the other side is worse!

I've never seen so much filler in something!

I have never been to Fairbourne - been to Barmouth a few times. Really like this part of Wales.

Fairbourne is on my list due to it eventually being abandoned to the sea - sad for those that have lived there for a long time.

Just Googled that, seems a shame.

Nice work, as ever.

Are those repair panels Lada-specific, or Fiat 124?

Junkman's 405 estate suffered complete gearbag failure last week, so between that and it having several issues, he's scrapped it.

Today we collected its replacement. When I heard what it was I fucking LOL'D. It turns out it's absolutely brilliant, had it in my own eBay watchlist as well.

Mrs Popsicles new to her Qashqai went in for a service and cambelt kit yesterday, we got it from one of her mates who only purchased it last December, for strong money, from a local garage who gave it a full presale service....

Thats some going in only 5k miles!

Mechanic reckons theres a reasonable car there somewhere, but its been a bit neglected - think this might be a fun/expensive journey with the miles we put on motors.

I serviced my astra the other week, after 8k miles. The air filter was so clean, I wondering if I should just reuse it. That looks like it's never been replaced. Ever.

Just one of those cars I have to own at one point. I love the design philosophy that lead to this. An ex-colleague recently bought one and loves it as well.

Found a little bit of rot on the Polo vans inner sills, it looks a lot worse than it is and should be easy enough to repair but involves removal of the fuel tank and rear beam to get decent enough access. We removed the tank yesterday and also replaced the cheap rear coilovers which were seized solid and fitted standard shocks and springs.

The rest of the car is relatively good so as soon as I get the welding sorted it hopefully won't take much for an mot.

Admittedly with deposit and the old one needs to go back when I finish it but still...

Live shitting going on right here.

My son has a twin turbo 300zx that has sat for a couple of years with very infrequent starting or moving around. He gave it some fresh fuel the other day and it started first go but was popping and coughing and wouldn't clear its throat like it usually does so he turned it off and tried to restart it but it did half a turn then locked up.

Putting it in 4th gear i wasn't able to push it forward but it would rotate the engine if I pushed it backwards.

So armed with some tools I pulled the plugs out (a couple of them were soaked in fuel) and tried to crank it again which resulted in success and also an impressive jet of petrol being emitted from number four plug hole.

I can only stop the flume of fuel if I pull the fuel pump fuse so I guess that'll be a jammed open injector then.

Going to put the plugs and coils back on and unplug the naughty injector and see if it'll run again.

Edit. Just unplugged the injector and it still shoots fuel out of the plug hole and over the bonnet of the neighbours motabity Kuga.

Inlet manifold off it is then...

Not long got back from a 100-mile round trip to the coast in my newly-acquired CLK320CDI.

According to the trip computer it managed 43.2mpg. That's four-up and including a lot of stop-start traffic.

I'm very impressed with it for a 3.0 V6 diesel. I think it could do a lot better on a long run. At 80mph in top it's not even pulling 2000rpm!

Got the rear door stripes painted back on and the interior trim reinstalled.  Looks loads better for it.  Not much to go now.

The black tape on the front doors?  Yeah... to celebrate the driver's door corner fell off because it was a massive chunk of filler.  Frankly amazed it clung on for as long as it did.  Not to worry, front doors are next on my welding hit list with this one anyway, just a case of waiting for weather, work, and free time to line up so I can get them done.  Hopefully whoever takes this on after me won't have much to do on the welding front, certainly nothing serious as far as I'm aware.  Once I've done the doors I can get the better dashboard and centre console fitted.  Also learned that Volvo Dark Grey 228 looks to be a reasonable match for Flint interiors, not a perfect match, but certainly close enough to spruce up tired and faded items without them looking too out of place.

Popped the fuel tank out of the Volvo 145 to inspect it and clean it out. It looks in good shape but has lots of rust flakes inside. The fuel sender was seized but should be useable.  The fuel line into the tank is metal due to the proximity of the exhaust back box and I managed to snap the 90 degree elbow on the side of the tank. Doh! I then made things a whole lot worse by failing to extract the broken piece of thread, resorting to drilling it out and trying to tap it and then hearing the fuel pick-up pipe falling off inside the tank. I’m not totally sure what do to now but I could perhaps fashion a length of pipe to act as the pick up and solder/glue it into the existing hole in the tank.

I went to the annual Barbecue hosted by the Glenisla Classic Vehicle Club.

The rain stayed off and it was a great day. Good to catch up with @Tamand also finally met @drumafter missing him last year (thanks for the burger). I also spoke to lots of other car owners

There was a wide range of cars on show, I tried to just photograph the ones I didn't see last year.

The 1973 Mini 1000 was my favourite as it was totally unmodified.

The winner was a Peugeot 309. Some UK interest here as these were designed in Coventry for Rootes/Crysler/Peugeot combine.

Mate of mine lives down in Burgess hill, just paid a Porsche specialist over £1100 for some work including fitting a new exhaust.

Said it doesn’t sound right, sent me a video and it’s just blowing like fuck, then sent me this:
