I had a good one earlier in the week.

Tack welded arch repair panel but at the rubber side strip they just stopped welding the 5mm gap they somehow cut and fiber glassed it 🤣

Soon as I tapped it the whole thing cracked right up to the rubber

A nice simple 90s car with just a Bluetooth head unit as the only nod to modernity is just perfect.

Hence me still having an E36 on fleet, with exactly that upgrade.

Funnily enough, so do I. A Kenwood one I had a few years ago for a Golf GTi. Pulled it out before sale as the car was ruined.

Even matches the interior illumination nicely and dims when the lights go on.

Had the exact same head unit in my Megane II. Was honestly brilliant. Even kept it for 3 years after selling the car in case I bought something that took a single DIN unit again.

Boat day #3 started off well:

IMG_20230322_100144938.thumb.jpg.3db89f65ada9d8d351ff5e11729ca9e0.jpg

Hollandaise sauce and black pud ftw!

Then it was off down the Staffs canal.

Had to do a double take when I saw the name of this boat, thought i was on the m6...

IMG_20230322_114207967.thumb.jpg.db251072c9b3a9568196ed18063d39b9.jpg

I had originally wanted to turn the boat at Tixall wide - as the name suggests plenty space..

But the good lady had other plans. There was a winding hole further on, so we went for that instead.

A 55ft boat, about 70ft of width at the widest point, and boats either side..

IMG_20230322_125521148.thumb.jpg.92f1b0c395cf8be19600e895930e777f.jpg

Thankfully the boat went round well, no issues!

We moored up and went for a stoat. Here you can see an antiquated victorian mode of transport, and a narrowboat

IMG_20230322_130950616.thumb.jpg.a1205cdb5b85e01d4cc43334342d62f3.jpg

On our wander, we saw a rotting hulk, and a narrowboat called Sheldon

IMG_20230322_132650673.thumb.jpg.2842bec5cd7379023a5b271df3069e3a.jpg

There was a 'Billy Big Baws ' in Milford - what a two car fleet

IMG_20230322_135151619.thumb.jpg.6e965ee69a0245b77d1f99188e4af9da.jpg

Cannock Chase is ahead* of the times..

IMG_20230322_135831870.thumb.jpg.df58030a207ce9c1fbda5b11652d6080.jpg

On the way back we got to some heady heights of revs..

IMG_20230322_153032170.thumb.jpg.aaa5195de34fc430eef7889c31c0eb1c.jpg

And we're able to keep up with this walker

IMG_20230322_153042529.thumb.jpg.a7b8ff376ef2a97be6287da07c8eae5f.jpg

At Tixall Lock, the wind caught the boat -literally no steering.

Had to aim for the mouth of the lock, and the burd stepped off and took the centre line to pull the boat into the lock landing.

That dealt with, we have moored for the night at Tixall Wide, with a few miles to do tomorrow.

It's a grand holiday, and a lovely way to travel

I did the same. Came out of the golf, Into a stopgap fiesta, and then into this. Agreed, been a great unit. I have a remote for it too.

Children I’d imagine. Great tune, and reminds me of playing the original Ridge Racer game.

Don't think so, unless it's had a respray and a plate change.  (Which would technically be illegal as it was an S plater so a T plate would make it look newer than it is, which is against the rules.)

The Eunos I got in December turned out to be a shoddily repaired heap, and it recently burst a clutch hose, so it's going.

With assistance from ms_ghost (aye I know), I picked up a replacement. No collection thread as it consisted of sitting in a Ka in traffic around south Manchester and bugger all else.

Excuse potato cam, I'm having to use my spare phone at the moment.

Friend of a friend bought this seemingly good MR2.

Seemed reasonably solid on initial inspection. Some rust but nothing chronic.

Turns out it's fucked. Not massively surprised but shit break for the young owner

The same thing happened to me in 2005 with a 1989 T-bar in light blue. I'm staggered this car still has atoms left that resemble a car.

Thankfully the Kia’s steering problem looks like it’s only a pipe or hose. Bad news is it looks like a Kia special order unless I play parts darts with Autodoc. Stepdaughter needs the car soonish so I think Kia may be best bet but will try a couple local motor factors on way over to Bognor.

Looks like it’s one of those order from Kia only parts. £176. Plenty of LHD ones on the internet for about £40

both rubber sections of the line are badly perished and the lowest metal part is so crusty it has a pinhole.

Working with dustcarts you probably blowout pipes regularly , what does your fitter see or say 🤔

Local guys can’t do anything for nearly 2 weeks. One quoted me not much less than Kia which I thought was a rip-off.

We make our own hoses up or order direct from Dennis Eagle. Our fitters have nothing that small.

Spent a long but interesting day off work yesterday driving from London to Lincolnshire to view a couple of Skoda Estelles.  Both requiring levels of recommissioning.  A really nice looking beige one but it was a lot of money and a straight and solid red one but with pretty weathered paint.  As of yet neither purchased

Not yet. I thought seeing two on one day would be a good idea but its now meant that the question isn't just do I want/need to buy a new car to but is now do I want/need to buy a new car and if so which one!

Holy shit! (Pun intended).

Buy a Jap car they said. Lasts forever they said.

Would sorely love an MR2 or Celica, but seriously, screw that. Every one I've found has been the same, often hidden by the plastic covers they love so much.

Day 3 on the boat had a bit of an unexpected ending -

These buggers decided to peck at the boat!

they eventually fucked off

Day 4 dawned bright but with an approaching band of rain..

We took the chance to motor away early (ish) and completed the cruise up to Weston in about 3hrs (including a couple of locks, and a reversal of the previous 'blind turn under a bridge onto another canal')

This all went tickity boo, and we got to see some interesting sights on the Trent and Mersey..

A boat I'm not allowed to buy

A truck I am not allowed to buy

When we arrived at Weston we went for a stoat to a local hostelry for scran, and met some Llamas 🦙
