Now in the back of a Skoda Superb heading up the M11.  C2 will be following on a Renault Master, so shouldn't be too far behind.

Washed this big honey today. It's far too nice for me.

Matching, as in neither works?

One won't charge its battery and one has a battery which won't hold its charge.  So kind of matching but opposites at the same time.

50,000 miles into my same day courier adventure and today my breakdown cherry was finally popped.

Nearside rear tyre flat as a pancake, went on the M1. Luckily* for me it was in the smart upgrade section (just north of J13, just before the bit where you 'rev up your engines (it's Scotty Kilmer)' for the burst from 60 to 70mph. Thankfully there was a handy gap into the works access, so I was able to pull out of the live running lanes (recovery guy said well done for thinking on my feet...or rather my three working tyres anyway).

Lucky break was because it's free recovery in that section of roadworks, so I didn't need to fuck about ringing the RAC. 10 minutes and along came a recovery truck (BDV Recoveries, based in Yorkshire - bloody brilliant guys) took me back to Newport Pagnall to enable me to change the wheel. Naturally as soon as I get the wrench out, it chucked about a year's worth of rain onto Newport Pagnall service station. Amazingly the Combo had a full size spare, a brand new Continental no less.

Delivery accomplished, albeit two hours late. I offered to forego my fee for the job with the shipper which is the accepted etiquette in the trade - rang him and kept him updated, but he wouldn't have it, said 'shit happens' and that he'd ring me Monday with more work - top bloke.

Glad I've got that one done and dusted, should be okay for another 50K hopefully. Gonna take the busted Cross Climate down to F1 tomorrow to see if it's fixable, or if not get a replacement - can't really have three all-seasons and a summer tyre.

Quick follow-up. It was a puncture and a big hole to boot. Plugged neatly by F1 for £21 - well happy with that. Wheel is now back on, spare back underneath the van, all systems go for tomorrow.

Driving licence exchanged for a German one this morning. Remarkably easy and fast. Good job I managed to do it this month.

I knew Germany is very rule conscious but this is ridiculous. How have you been nourishing yourself?

Friends brought food for us for the first 10 days, but now we're out of isolation we're free to go shopping.

If you hit them together hard enough will it make a c5?

No. 2+2 is only 4. Do you really want a C4 though?

In other news, I'm just back from helping @cort1977 make an amusing purchase. I'll let him reveal all though.

No, hence I'd hope it did a French and get it slightly wrong! Maybe chuck a 3rd interior in to make up the numbers?

Went to Loughborough this morning, the Scirocco was a bit spluttery, but made it home OK to cough & die on the drive. It's an air leak from a bady fitted carburettor, my man with the spanners mackled it up for me about six months ago & I asked him to do it properly when he had a moment. It looks like he'll be finding a convenient moment in the next couple of days!

From the man who told me he wasn't sure he needed such a vehicle...  :-)

Excellent behaviour.

Legacy passed its MOT yesterday. It had only failed on a droplink which wasn't bad at all.

The weather has been gash up here so I'd actually rang around a few garages as I'd happily pay £50 for someone else to do it, rather than sit in the freezing rain for an hour but nobody wanted to. "Sorry, don't do Subarus". WTF?

The only place that said they would couldn't fit me in this side of the retest window.

Luckily there was a break in the weather that allowed me to get out and fix it myself at the weekend.

Another years worth of road legalness obtained (on paper at least).

Had to collect the bosses’ daughters mini from the dealer today . Looking across the used car lot what a load of monochrome misery . Had to laugh that the bill for the small service was for the same amount that I paid for my r50 Cooper

Electric operated boot strut snapped on the C5 yesterday... thanks to my lightning quick reactions I managed to get out of the way quickly before it landed on my already damaged shoulder! So now we have a boot which  doesn’t  stay open... ideal when you’ve got a small baby and need all the available arms to juggle baby and associated gubbins.

‘I guess we’ll have to use the 9000 on Christmas Day then’ says Mrs B... 😎😎

What horn sound did it emit first time around? I'd like to think it was a slightly sad sounding, descending 'peeeeeeeeeeep' noise not unlike a clanger.
