You can tax it with a completed one though. Allegedly.

Hopefully it will all be sorted in 6 months when I need to tax it but all that's really at risk is his rights to the private plate, should I need to apply for a V5 myself. I really want the car thought so am prepared to take the risk this time.

Short journeys will do that to just about any car. I'll second the advice you were given and just carry in, provided all else is well!

Anyway, since I'm not getting my 75 this weekend, I decided to try out this new spray wax I got from eBay on the Audi. It's not like it's not already had a polish and 2 coats of sealant! 

It's good stuff though, you need to buff it off somewhat with a second microfibre.

I went out for my ‘exercise’ today, it’s a glorious day down here so went for a long walk out in the local countryside and through the woods on the South Downs. Lovely day, nobody about apart from a couple of other walkers and the sun was lovely and warm while walking so I’ll probably get a bit of a tan!

Makes you realise just how good the countryside actually is in this country. It really does take some beating!

Flags aren’t my thing. Rightly or wrongly I feel that they’ve been hijacked over the years. I saw how divisive they are when I first went to Northern Ireland on work, and the fact they always turn up every two years in white vans around football events makes me twitch further. 

Still. This gave me the goosebumps. This is THE flag flown in my village 75 years ago - May 8th 1945. Flying in exactly the same place as it did that day. Wonderful. Just look at it.

Yes, the village has been largely Unionwashed. You’d think “we” won the war singlehandedly. Still, lots of people out and about and a few old relics out on parade as well.

Short runs? I service my brother's Twingo (Also D4F) and his always looked a bit like that... I'm not saying it's not HGF, but from my extensive testing on a sample size of one vehicle it seems like TADTS.

Some light evening reading. Hopefully won't be too long before lockdown is easied enough that it can be MOT'd and then delivered. 

It's no 1100/1300 (still on the hunt for one) but it's something I want to give a go still and has enough mechanical similarities to give some of the experience. Plus engine parts compatibility with the MGB is useful.

Well at least in my possession yes short runs and for the last few months at the garage i got it from id say yes also short runs. I will take a look in the expansion bottle tomoro. Not so sure what i am looking for but if it looks and smells coolanty i might be ok.

Provided you're not loosing coolant and it looks ok, then give the cap a wipe and move on with life. We found that the situation's helped by switching to fully synthetic and treating it to a decent long run a couple of times a week.

New addition to the yard this week....

Went on a bike ride up to Sea Palling this afternoon. This was the beach car park:

And this was the approach road:

Normally on a sunny Bank Holiday the car park would be bursting at the seams and the approach road would also be packed despite the double yellow lines.  So it seems people are still respecting lockdown after all. 

Plenty of houses flying Union flags though, and red, white and blue bunting hung in driveways above their German cars.

So the Berlingo has gone to it's new home, thanks to @barmatt for his assistance.

I've been away from work for a week as Mrs Ruff had to be tested for the virus amongst other breathing related things.

Thankfully she is all clear, the doctors suspect an anxiety related issue, so she is on a news and Facebook ban for the time being.

On the Friday before I stopped work, there was talk of a Vw Touran looking for a new home (and a new engine potentially) which has certainly made home on my radar!

Unfortunately there is no easy vehicle access to the back garden! I did say earlier to my long suffering wife that it was a shame there wasn't.

Got the rear pads done on the 75 today - somewhat more successful than yesterday's brake fixing attempt, but then the 75 is only half German.

Wasn't too bad of a job, although the pads were definitely on their last legs, especially on the offside - on the outer pad the (remains of the) friction material came away from the backing when I knocked the pad out of the caliper.  Also the guide pins holding the caliper together are afflicted with the curse of the 7mm allen bolt - I have a 7mm allen key, but it's part of a cheap Rolson set, and with a socket and extension bar on the end to give extra leverage I wasn't quite sure whether the allen key was going to give up before the bolts, but they all came undone in the end.  Bleed nipples both cracked off OK as well.

Annoyingly the plug for the brake pad wear wiring disintegrated as I was trying to unplug it.  I shoved it back together as best I could, but the pad warning light is now on permanently - I might have to see if I can short it out somehow as that's going to get annoying.  Also when I first drove the car there was a weird pulsation through the brake pedal, but I think that was parts of the rear discs which hadn't seen a pad for some time suddenly being used for braking again, and it disappeared after a couple of miles.

Tomorrow if the weather isn't too thunderously shit I might even have a crack at the CV joint on the V70...
