My recently acquired Lincoln town car was a bit of a gamble, and was priced to match a malfunctioning alarm and mot measured in days. I've binned the alarm, and seeing nothing obvious amiss chucked it in for a MOT today......

Which it passed!

Got the shed ZX back today, and the ropey clutch was a bit of a shock after the smooth gearbox and clutch of my other recent purchase. Still, at least it doesn't take ages to start anymore....

Garage said it's missing a seal by the intercooler meaning it's leaking a little bit of oil, should I be concerned? I'm not looking to preserve it.

Discs and pads arrived for the Nippa. Hoorah! Went to fit then. Oh FFS...

That's the Nippa now stranded off-road for another gawd-knows-how-long. Naturally, they arrived so late in the day that the place I bought them from is closed for the day, so another working day gone. This is officially shit.

All the more annoying as for once, I opted not to buy cheap shit on Ebay, but went to Brakes International instead.

Put the discs in a hot wash to shrink them a bit...

I am wondering about trying to find someone who can redrill the discs...

Bought a new fan belt (auxiliary belt? Drive belt? Accessory belt?) For the focus.

Tried and failed to find the tensioner. Turns out it's a stretch belt and you need a special tool to fit. Thanks for that ford.

Also turns out the water pump runs off the fan belt in these so I can't really ignore it.

I'm not for buying a special tool so what's chances I can take a bolt out of the alternator, tilt it down to fit the new belt then lever it back up again??

I have the special tools I think.

Is it a hammer, a smaller socket and half a scaffold bar?

If it's a single pulley you can fit the belt carefully with a round shanked screwdriver and turn the engine over by hand

In the end I undone the top two bolts and pivoted it forwards on the lower bolt

Great success!!

I don't know if I missed something, but have you bought another car?

You are probably going to have a higher turnover of cars than Cavcraft this year if you carry on at this rate.

In other news, the 75 passed the MOT with no advisories today, which was a pleasant surprise.

He has, and it turns out the only way to find out what it is is to buy another one from him.

My name is Callum and I have one good P38 and one fucked one..

I've just lost an eBay auction for another one actually, were we looking at the same one? It was green.

Yep, green diesel in Telford...

I have come to a conclusion, the camper will have to go. Despite my best intentions I cannot see me using it,the few times I have tried the fates always conspire against me and it is now annoying me. I have spent a load on it so will definitely lose money on it. I visit it at least weekly to give it a run around the block, currently sat in it having a cup of coffee with one of the dogs

It's a very expensive way to pop out for a coffee.

Just come to the festival of the unexceptional next month and you'll find out. To be fair the collection was boring and I had to walk 5 minutes away from the car to tax and insure it due to the abysmal signal.

I'll give everyone a clue, it didn't appear in the eBay tat thread.

Still undecided about the FotU. Not sure if I've got the money or inclination.

Ughh, 'EAC fail' code on the Fusion, which cleared after restarting it.

So that could be anything from accelerator position sensor, throttle body, PCM (ECU) connections or the PCM itself. Oh joy.

Shudder...

Picking the ankle biter up from school with her 10yo m8, girly eve + McDonalds. I'm informed by SWMBO that said 10yo says 'Grandads car is Kool'

106 ready for tonight's collection mission. I can't say I'm thrilled at the thought of driving 255 miles in this particularly given it's absolutely boiling tonight and it obviously has no air con.

Fortunately the drive back should be a lot more comfortable ....

Garage have had my 75 diesel since yesterday morning at 8:30, due to alarming noises from front suspension. No word from them yet :/

Does this mean:

A. It's terminally knackered

B. There's nothing wrong with it

C. They've lost my phone number

Think I shall pop down there in the morning and see what the score is.

Shite rescues shite...

Proper FTP this time. Came out of the roundabout at the back there, no power. No nothing. Coast to a halt. Pull back cambelt cover, see sprocket but no belt. Arse.

Got it towed into the garage halfway between there and home, went to see them this morning, bloke was cautiously optimistic.

Spotted it on the ramp through the open door from the bus earlier, so something's happening.

It'll get fixed, but I just know this is going to end up skinning me. I'm just not that lucky. That is not my way.

Outbid on 2 cars at EAMA Auctions in wymondham hey ho. Nice to see only a few eastern Europeans, although they were all over anything BMW, Mercedes or Audi!!!!

Posted

I haven't been to a Tuesday night auction in Wymondham for years - do they still get anything interesting through?  When they were still on Aylsham Road I came away with such gems as a Renault 25 V6 auto and a Seat Malaga.

Non-interference I believe, you may be lucky.

Everybody and their dog agrees, especially as it's the turbo (B230FT), but I'm feeling intensely fatalistic about most things! Nihilism r us.

Occasionally have some interesting stuff, todays highlight was an 05 Kia Cerato £300 I know I had forgotten they exist as well!

Their new place is dead easy to get to and only 15 mins from home for me.

Took the A35 to the welders today. Even the recovery truck is shite there was a 1961 haflinger moke type thing and a renna 5 gt turbo inside being worked on which gave me some confidence.

Then we picked up a 16v proton persona in pogweasel from a lady giffer if anyone is interested pm me finally back at the yard this was hiding in a corner. .. a real choddy eveningpost-18157-0-82081500-1497384696_thumb.jpgpost-18157-0-90628900-1497384726_thumb.jpgpost-18157-0-08651300-1497384751_thumb.jpg

The 620ti has just left for pastures new, I'm pleased i bought it and saved it from being scrapped, it turned out to be a really nice example in the end and will hopefully serve it's new owner well.
