Getting ready to bid farewell to the green Sierra tomorrow. It's been a short but exciting little journey... but it doesn't fit with plans even in the midterm and I've already got access to the Sierra bASe.

The dude is picking this up from exactly the same place AngryDicky took the bASe from last week.

I have a purchase agreed on something older and more unloved than this. Attempts being made for collection on Friday.

Have you convinced the new owner to join us on here so that we can keep tabs on it?

For me my day was spent putting the door handle and trim back and mirror back on the Z3 after having the passenger door resprayed due to the local foxes damaging the door then the gearstick fell apart but luckily I already had a NOS BMW one knocking about which was fitted..

Last week I changed the seat rubbers and repaired the electric seat motor with a tap of a hammer so now it's back looking and driving as good as new and will be taking it for a short break down to the new forest. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Also the gearstick fell apart on the smart car the other day and luckily I found a secondhand one on eBay for £8... I don't know why all the sudden I'm replacing them on my cars.

The z3 looks smart chief-good effort! alarming to think that them plus e36s are getting on for 25 years old..

us e30 chaps are just getting used to fuel injection..

Tonight i had my Shotley car meet, considering the forecast was rain the weather held out and well and we still had a good turn out, probably over 100 cars.

Here's a few that i managed to photograph on my photo.

This Max Power 206 1.6 16v had over 30k spent on it 9 years ago, it was a pretty good job considering, some lads i know recently bought it for considerably less, removed the air suspension and sorted a load of wiring issues.

I will mention it to him later.

Having huge second thoughts about selling it.  I've got a slightly bad feeling about the car I've agreed to buy, but then I always get that.

Standing in the queue at the tea wagon this morning someone was swigging red bull and the bloke behind him said it's got bulls spunk in it. I don't know if it's true or not but energy drinks will remain on my list of things to avoid. There's a bull called Roger lives a few fields from me, I hope he can keep up.

It's not true.

Sadly.

Red Bullâ„¢ has Taurine in it which is a type of acid.  The reason people think it comes from Bulls is because Taur is latin for Bull.  Whist taurine is found in bulls, it's also in many other animals including humans.

You can rest assured your energy drink is free of Jizz - as the taurine in RB is made in a lab.

Which is, ironically, probably worse than actually having a good swig of bull batter.

I tracked down some eBay company who said they would do any graphics I wanted for my van.

Told them what I wanted and got 'We can't do that, sorry' as a response.

Is it because you asked them to write 'Corsa Bs are fucking ace', maybe?

A bit like those garages that claim to service 'any' make and 'any' model.

Until I show up with any of my cars, that is.

Gareth has had his CRV with missing second diagnosed, fucked bearings apparently. He's been quoted £300+vat for a half gearbox rebuild, which means new bearings all round and new fluid. Most of that is labour which seems fair. It'll then need an MOT, which if it passes will be fine, if not may cost more, we reckoned £650 tops.

Worth it on a £950 X reg CRV? He likes it, we reckon it'll soldier on forever if done, we are swinging towards go for it, but £650 will buy a nice new car...

£650 will buy a nice new car...

With its own issues. Most unknown to you but well known to the seller who's trying to get out before imminent implosion.

I have a £500 V reg Avensis.  I just had a bill for £670 for a replacement clutch and a few other bits.  It's still a £500 car, but I know it inside out.

Just bought a new clock for the dollop to be sent direct to Specialist cars as the dashboard is out again. Got one for £70 from Westminster breakers (nice discount from the lads there as I have bought loads of bits from this car - it is the one after mine... 66222 whereas mine is 66221, I should have bought their one for spares!) and trying to get the discs skimmed on it. Apparently, to take off the front discs and replace is 6 hours work and the rears, is TWO DAYS! Now investigating 'on car' skimming... we shall see.

Raised from my sick bed to hand over the keys for the Ford Fusion as it had its MOT retest today after new bearing and brake pipe fitted. All sorted. May be up for sale soon *I can hear your excitement* (you know its good future shite thou')

The day I have science fiction pictures on my cars, especially anything to do with that dreadful crock of shit Red Dwarf will be the same day I declare my love for fox hunting, have Maggie Thatcher's face (micro) tattooed on my bell end and start an Iveco dealership up.

Not car related.... if anyone fancies a beer this weekend, I'm working at The Theobald Arms in Grays where we have a real ale/ beer festival on. https://whatpub.com/pubs/ESW/10932/theobald-arms-grays

GUARANTEE of Alfa in car-park, and probably the landlord's M3 in Dakar Yellow. Other shite may be visible.

Put a new steering wheel cover on today. They get chewed up by the disklok even though it's got some protective stuff on the inside.

Forgot to take a pic while it was off but the normal low spec wheel is proper skinny and weird feeling.

Just tried to help a chap who was struggling to get an old Standard 10(?) up the road towards my gaff. It was coughing and stuttering and pouring out some very noxious fumes. Went and got him some fuel but it didn't  help, so had to leave him to it. Felt really guilty...

Annual service completed on the Mondeo. Hour and a half oil changed, brake pipes cleaned up and waxoyled, brakes, tyres and suspension inspected. I suppose I could have saved myself an hour and a half a year and spent it all waiting for the RAC when it's chucked a leg out of bed on the M5 after a few years.

Tell them you want it for somebody else's van then.

Done my speed awareness course last night. Have to say it was very good and much nicer than £100 fine and three points. The chaps doing the course were very good and made it entertaining and not boring. It was at the holiday inn express hotel in Kirkby. I went to the suites hotel opposite at first. Now you know why I gave up Taxi driving 😊

DVLA are on the ball at the moment - V5 for the Alfa arrived in the post today.  I bought the car on Saturday.

The dollop is going to have all its brakes skimmed on the car. There is a very (VERY!) slight vibration through the pedal at higher speeds that annoys me (what me, a fussy twat? Never...) and as new discs are £400 each for the fronts (big brake car) and 6 hours to change and the rears are the complete hubs with bearings and all sorts and are mega loads and 2 days labour to change, I thought this was the best option. Still £70 plus VAT per disc!

I have no idea how much this stay at the 'Spa' is going to cost and I am getting... worried! :(

It seems quite common practice to skim discs in the US and other places but you don't seem to see it happening much here. They have machines that can skim them on the car so you don't even need to take the discs off. A lot of discs get killed off because they have a ridge or a vibration when  there's still plenty meat on them so it seems like a decent idea especially for more expensive stuff.
