Did it get a proper pressure test before gassing? Also, its worth changing the Schrader valves in the ports. That messed me up a few months ago, meaning a replacement lot of gas was needed.

This is a good bit of advice - especially as the vacuum/leakdown test that most of the automated machines do absolutely wouldn't spot this as the hoses being attached the the service ports obviously means there's no leak present there.  The high side one is usually the first to show issues as the higher temperatures tend to cook the seal.  Especially if the service port is situated right next to the compressor.

I did notice the previous regas before the last episodes that the Czech guy I used, who has unfortunately since retired carefully checked the ports for leaks before putting the caps on. I suppose if he'd found a leak he would have quickly sucked out the gas and changed the valves.

That rear overhang looks like an expensive body job just waiting to happen. I've no idea what it is - looks like a mid-life crisis on wheels. 😂

Hamfisted surgery on the Voyager has continued. It's the same old story - some rust becomes more rust...

It’s £3million or so of mid life crisis. Some McLaren gt, 13 secs to 150 etc.

I absolutely did not stay on the dual carriageway an extra junction on my way to work this morning in the Saab 9000 just so I could catch up with this and do a brief convoy of 90s Saabs…

McLaren Speedtail. Top of the tree hypercar and spiritual successor to the F1.

250mph, four figure horsepower hybrid. Absurdly fast.

$2m or so.

Chodspeed and everything. Always great to see community cars improving as they move from shiter to shiter!

Just watched High Peak Autos latest vid on how to get best price for your old car. He was using a colleagues surplus 2009 Jag XF, in good condition but CAT N. WBAC website said £900, on inspection offered £64! For a fully working XF in good condition!! I’ll beat that, robbing bastards.

Busy last few weeks which included week just gone doing Driver CPC over zoom call. Thank you work.

I now have a long weekend and aside from a family bbq on Monday up in Kent, I’m hoping I can get the cam belt on the C2 done at the very least. Although at the moment it’s pissing it down.

Clutch has started slipping in my Carina, I'm trying to work out whether I want to go through the pain of doing it myself or if I should shell out and get someone to do it for me.

Do it yourself! It's summer so it's nice and dry...

Oh.

Fatha_Sterling's Passat has a few issues, firstly the air-con bearing are noisy, it works (thankfully) but is slightly noisy.

The rear stop-lamp has an issue where the bulb holder and wire connector has burnt slightly, I had this exact same issue, on the same side on my old Peugeot 407, I just purchased a new lamp unit complete with bulb holder off eBay for £cheaps which resolved the issue.

It's not so easy over here, seemingly Passats and VWs in general are VERY popular over here and those who have them seem to stockpile parts buying everything in their site, so when you have an issue and pop to a breakers, they have nothing. eBay Belgium are generally rubbish for anyone listing spare parts for sale unless they are some crappy Chinese shit or from breakers in Lithuania.

So now we're about to pop to my uncle's house, he is pretty good at soldering pieces and generally resolving issues.

I've been here about a day and half and still haven't taken the 'Arthur Daley' out for a drive.

Arrived home with this little beauty today. No collection thread because it’s a boring * car for old people. But many thanks to @Sigmund Fraud for a very pleasant and smooth transition. A pleasure to meet you again. It’s a cracking little thing and will save the SAFRANE from the perils of winter.

Went to Wells today just for a gander and something to do. This in the car park and a for sale sign. Eight and a half grand. While rare, I find it hard to believe anyone would go "I really want one of these and spend £8.5k on one"

PXL_20240824_122817327.jpg.562c1b29cb297a506b25e0beebc2639b.jpg

But then I guess it's because it doesn't float my boat. If it was a frogeye then maybe my view would be different.

I’ve got previous, and i wouldn’t spend 8.5k on that - even though it’s about as close to the ak400 that my dad had when I was growing up (twin large window is fairly rare).

New toy! 6 months MOT! Comedy paint! Obligatory Paul Walker sticker! Fully functional roof! Oil pressure light on hot idle!

£600!

Some might remember I bought a red one of these many years ago and then immediately sold it to buy a Range Rover. This is referred to as "unfinished business".

A great winter hack, well bought!

There's an old lady down the road who has a blue one. Not a straight panel on the thing.

The owner might be 120 years old, but she's very good at multi-tasking. Every Sunday morning she bounces up and down in the seat shuffling frantically at the steering wheel whilst simultaneously burning out the clutch.

Despite her best efforts, it will probably outlive her.

I’ve actually started to take the cover off, (ok I leant under and undid one screw by hand…)

So there’s a decent and increasing chance I fix it myself…it’s a non-cancery-death related activity I keep sneaking back to so there’s no rush, I’m likely to fix it now tbh.

Wife has also been given a lecture by her brother in law (garage full of half fixed scooters) that I clearly need this as a hobby so it may have had a reprieve.
