matara got a reaction from LT84 in Aussie Peugeot 205 Si base spec --> 205 Rallyeshite replica - Father & Son project
My 12 year old son Zacky is keen on learning to drive and doesn't want to wait another 4 years until he can do on the road (here in Sydney, Aus). So we have decided to get involved in doing Motorkhana events in the Junior class which he can start doing from 12 years old. A motorkhana is a tarmac event that is a timed drive around a coned course on private land. So we looked for the cheapest way of doing this and have bought an Aussie/Japan only market spec base Peugeot 205 Si. This is a 1.6i model but pretty similar to a 205XS.
We intend to transform it from a base spec 205 to an imposter spec 205 Rallye with the aid of some steel wheels, a sticker kit and a cherry bomb exhaust.
The car we bought has had some competition use in Khanacross ( the next stage on from Motorkhana, but on gravel/off road and high speeds), so it's already 0.5 Colin McRae spec already
being 30 years old this year means we can put it on Historic Registration which means for $50 / 20 quid we can have it insured/taxed and drive it on the road to/from events and up to 60 days personal per year, so we are doing it cheap.
Will post up some event photos here as there is a lot of other shite spec cars in the field.
Here is our Aussie base spec!

    And here is the goal:-

And here is our Si doing some Khanacross in Melbourne Victora by the prior owner:-

Car is currently in transit between Melbourne and Sydney (1000kms) and should be here later this week. We already have our order in on these:-

    Cheers

    Cheers

Ian you've seen my garage, it's large but packed full of cars with not enough room to work in, which is why I am pruning the fleet!
I think the effort to get the Sana an Olcit driveable and on the road will take ages and drain your enthusiasm for them. Hopefully with summer and (fingers crossed!) your out of lockdown, time will be spent getting out and about visiting shows, test drives and hubnut socials, with little time spare to devote to these two. Use your time for Elly/Myrtle and Foxanne.
What would make good content, is dragging the Sana to an Autoshite field of dreams event, and having all the knowledagble folks on here do an all hands on deck get her temporarily wired up, started and driven around the field, then post-event sold as a running driving car. But that's easily said from 18,000 miles away!
    Cheers

I think the GSA box has been ticked. In fact as I mentioned to you when we met in Sydney, I had a hankering for an aircooled GS, but being 6ft 5in I think I might pass on that now. But what you have got me on now is a 2CV mission. With the GTV gone I have a space for a 2CV but the prices of them in Australia are pretty crazy! Happy to help source an AU falcon for you if you want and drive it up to Port Kembla to put on the ship to blighty!

What do you think about 90's Alfa Spider/GTV's? I have a 1998 Gtv v6 and a 2002 twin spark spider here in Australia. They are still chod money here at the moment!
