wesacosa Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Probably time to call this as I can't see any movement before the end of the year unless by some miracle somebody wants a nice classic motor* as a Christmas present to themselves or a loved one In Despite much temptation, from a metallic brown A2 and Volvo C30, to a Lada Samara and two Visas I have managed to not buy anything this year. Probably wise as I am feeling the burden of my fleet size more than ever this year Out Did manage to shift one Id been debating selling it for a few years now. I just wasn't using it. The roads around here are horrible and the dog really didn't like going in it and he comes everywhere with us so all I did was go to work a few times in it which is all motorway. But every time I thought about selling it I'd look at it and think phwwah, its lovely. However someone posted on FB forum they were after an Imola red M3 and it had just left me with a rather hefty bill , and I was conscious it was starting to look a bit tired so off it went. It's now been put back to its former glory and sold for an eye watering amount to another new owner but im happy with what I got and the other guy must have sank big money in to it to get the price he did. Non Movers Despite several being up for sale at some point or other they are all still here. In an ideal world two would have gone but hey ho. Maybe the market will pick up in 2025 Citroen Albatross XM This was a lovely daily when I was allowed. It needs a bit of love now but could be again I'm sure. If only someone would buy it. I did manage to do Super touring power show and FoTu in it this year which were nice Fiat Panda Source of a lot of friction at home after stealing Mrs Ws space on the drive for 8 months after I let MOT and tax expire. Decided to change the points before the MOT in June and ended up doing points, timing, carb rebuild, inner and outer CV boots and a few other bits. I'd still love another shiter with better facilities and not living in ulez to take up the baton and give it its best life so if that's you drop me a line Skoda Favorit Saw some action in the first part of the year and then it dumped its coolant outside the Enfield Pageant and hasn't done anything since. I need to give it a run really to make sure HG isn't fecked but all tinkering time went on the Panda in the second half of the year Skoda Estelle Less said about my progress on this in 2024 the better. 2025 is its 25th birthday so motivation to get it sorted Mercedes C180k Not a fan of autos as a rule and saloons not practical for the dog. Yet at the moment my emergency ulez complaint buy of last year is plodding on without incident and returning 40mpg on my commute. It's going to need a bit of spending now on tyres, rear springs and sorting out a vibration under braking but it's still trucking on Sinclair C5 I think I enjoyed the lockdown rebuild on this more than owning it as I've still only driven it once . Cool thing to own though New year resolution is to get at least two moved on, maybe 3 EDIT: Shit I forgot one. Well that should tell you all you need to know about how much I've done on this since my lockdown refresh that never quite got finished Shite Ron, worldofceri, RayMK and 10 others 13

sporty-shite Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 A couple of ins and outs this year, although not many. I've really lost my shite mojo over the last year or two, and this year's experiences haven't really helped much. Out: started the year with this, having owned it for a good while. However by summertime, the clutch was starting to judder it's tits off, and it felt like it was ready for throwing a big bill at me. Sold via Facebook marketplace with faults disclosed, and away it eventually went. In &out: after selling the Alfa, I left myself in a bit of a predicament. However @Minimad5 mentioned he wanted to shift his dad's Mini convertible. Scruffy but cheap! Bought it, polished it, used it. Unfortunately, the clutch started to slip soon after I bought it. I nursed it for a while whilst I looked for something else, although I didn't rush, because it drove really nicely. Eventually, the battery gave up, so I had to shift it. Bought by @NorthernMonkeyfor parts for his own Mini. In and still here: this led to me needing a replacement. I wasn't sure what I wanted, but this came up in here. If I'm honest, it's not my usual type of thing, and the more I drive it, the less I like it. It's also been a bit of a cunt, because it's now flashed the traction control light, eml and EPC light, and will only drive in limp mode. On top of the crumbling crankcase breathers that cause it to stink in the cabin, it really hasn't endeared itself to me. My usual garage don't want to get involved in doing the breathers as it's an inlet manifold off job, so I'm currently stuck limping it around because I need it for work. The traction control light has scanned as steering angle sensor, so I'll try to sort that after Christmas and see if that at least brings it back to full power. Any suggestions on what might help, or who might take the breather job on, would be welcomed. Alternatively, I'd sell as is as long as my loss wasn't too painful! *Shamelessly stolen picture from @Dave_Q as the for sale thread I bought it from appears to have been deleted, and I haven't taken any pictures of my own. Finally, the constant of about four years is Mrs S's Astra H. It does everything a car needs to. Averages high 40s MPG around town, fits family and luggage, rugby kit and whatever else. No photo, but I'm sure you can guess what it looks like😂 Popsicle, wesacosa, worldofceri and 1 other 4

He binned the entire (disintegrating) breather system and fitted a Cloude9 catch can instead. It gave zero problems, I just emptied it out every month in the winter. There might be a similar set up for the engine in yours? I have asked on the relevant owners' Facebook page for you. sporty-shite 1

Didn't realise I'd posted the wrong one, just nicked it from one of Dave's for sale threads. I did wonder how many different sets of wheels it had had 😂 Anyway, the breathers themselves aren't the biggy, it's access to them that is a bit of a bastard. I've already bought a (albeit cheap) replacement set, and have changed the accessible bits, but the main problem now is the one that comes directly from the crankcase that you just can't get a hand on. Thanks for asking for me online, though. Hopefully there's a solution that might avoid having to strip loads of stuff off it. Split_Pin and Coprolalia 2
