How far did you go in 2025?

As the end of the year approaches, how far have we been in our fleet?

Mondeo - 6150 miles

Despite the ULEZ having been in force for 2.5 years meaning I don't use it as much as I once did - because any journey further then about a mile towards London results in a charge of £12.50, thus only useful for journeys out of town, it's still done a reasonable mileage this year, continues to eat up miles quite happily on the motorway etc. Requires some remedial welding in the new year. Has had a couple of scrapes where people have twatted into the A-post and smacked the door mirror (hence different colour) when parked at the side of the road. Has been on several long trips and always seems happier when used and doing long miles.

Focus - 3083 miles

The majority of this has been plodding around locally, trips to the shops or to/from the station or so on. In 2024 I did use it for a couple of longer trips when the Mondeo was off road, but in 2025 no such luck. I'll probably try and give it at least one proper longish trip next year to stretch its legs. Gets a 6 monthly oil change which is probably OTT but again lots of short trips. Had a few electrical weirdnesses with the rear tailgate, mostly sorted now. The one car I try to keep washed and un-cluttered inside.

Capri - 2546 miles

Around this time last year I was busy rebuilding this into a working car in which state, I'm pleased to say, it mostly remains. I had honestly thought it'd be more difficult than it ended up being to get this back on the road but it turned out to be more enjoyable than painful, with only a few bits and pieces being head-scratchers. There's a list of 'finishing off' jobs which need doing, still, but all are minor things. After a series of increasing-in-miles trips to run the car in, I was happy enough to spend most of the time over the summer just enjoying it!

Total - 11779 miles. Second only to 2022 (in which year I was still driving to work every day, and being the first year post-covid had plenty of excuses for now-permitted trips).

@Popsicle *hold my beer :D

On a quick tot up I reckon:

77.7k for the Caddy - 73.8k doing actual couriering
4.5k for the Passat
2k for the departed Elgrand
1k for the XC90
3k for the SLK
3k for the departed Qashqai
Really not sure about the departed red Beetle, the newer grey Beetle or the Swift - to be fair they're mainly driven by our kids.

The others add up to 91.2k miles, so not a bad year.

Jag XJ - 3754 miles

Its a toy/weekend car. It goes to Brussels once a year. Unfortunately this coming year, it may be costing me more money than doing actual mileage.

Jag S-Type - Around 575 miles.  Biggest journey was up to Northumberland and back. Its currently on loan

Vectra V6 - TBC It's also been to Brussels earlier in the year and is my everydayer. However, last MoT it got by with a few concerns surrounding underside corrosion, again, its something I'll have to consider next MoT.

~3k on 307CC
~1500 on Mini between the breakdowns
~500 on 155
Few thousand on 156, but not by me
Few thousand on Florida, of which 500 by me

Cars driven on the road by Mrs6C and I in 2025.

It is hard to separate who used what and generally I don’t have any 2025 mileage records. We used to drive lots of miles pre covid, something like 36,000 miles a year between us. Now we only drive a fraction of that.

The oldest car we have is from 1933 and we managed 1109 miles in 2025. I am pleased by how I have learnt to drive it this year and how much we have enjoyed it.

At the beginning of 2025 Mrs6C bought the Mazda 323 GLX 1.5 to save it, it was returned to the road, then it was put into storage. I then got it out in Mid October and have done 1250 miles. I checked the oil and water last week and it has not used any.

Due to limited mobility I have not used many different cars this year and would have guessed at half a dozen. I took the trouble to look through my AS pages and found that between Mrs6C and myself we have used 19 different cars on the road in 2025. Sorry I just don't have mileages.

Here is the list in no particular order.

1933 Rolls Royce 20/25

1968 Morris 1300

2016 Range Rover TDV6 Vouge

1989 Mazda 323 GLX 1.5

1976 Vanden Plas 1500

1994 Mercedes E320 Coupe

1993 Vauxhall Carlton 2.0i Club Estate

2001 Alfa 156 V6 Sports Wagon

2003 Fiat Seicento 1.1 Active

1984 Austin Mini Mayfair

2000 Citroen C15D van

1996 Citroen ZX 1.9TD Avantage Estate

1990 Mercedes 200TE Auto

1997 Citroen XM 2.0i 16v SX Auto

1999 Volvo V70 T5 Auto

1973 Daimler Sovereign 4.2 Auto

1972 Citroen DS Super

1974 Citroen Ami 8 Break

1976 Opel Manta 1.9 Coupe Auto

Not far to be honest, more than ‘24 as I spent 4 months unable to drive post op.

Tale of the tape is;

6690 miles in my Ateca

260 miles in the XK8 (one tank of fuel!)

1200 miles in my 520D

and the missus has done 5026 miles in her Captur.

most enjoyable miles were probably the Jag, flat out for most of them, second would be the 500km’s I did around Holland when I went to MotoGP in the Ateca, it’s a lovely country.

Good question.

Volvo: 11,500 miles (approx).  Not all me though, and 2500 of that was in two trips up north and back.

Trabant: 2150km, 1335 miles (surprised that's not more to be honest!) since it was revived in May.

Invacar: About 50 miles.  Really need to do better next year.  I just need to try to resolve the "it being a giant pain to get out the garage" issue as that's the only reason I've not used it more.

P6 prior to sale...no idea as the odometer was intermittent.  Probably somewhere around 200 miles.

P4 since it arrived - about 5 on account of discovering how much slack there was in the steering, brakes and it blowing all the coolant out if you tried to use more than half throttle - given the overall condition and what I paid for it, still over the moon with it.  Hopefully have it sorted in the spring and get some proper miles covered this coming year - intention is for it to share daily duties with the Trabant.

C5 hasn't even been out of the shed this year.  Really need to get it upgraded with a Lithium iron phosphate battery and disc brakes as those would make it far more usable.  Especially the brakes, as the stock ones are bloody awful.

Miles.

Walking:   248.75

Driving:   1,409.90

On the bus:   196.00

Not sure how many miles the car has done since March when it replaced the crash damaged one.  My son uses it far more than I do, will have to check the odometer later.

Edit:  Later: 4004

The above are mainly gleaned from Google Maps records which can be wildly inaccurate.

Lexus - 6000ish.

Subaru did 6000 this year, well above average (4000) due to trips looking after my late mother’s house. Will be much less this year as house is sold.

Bini did 10000 getting as far as Bordeaux and separate trip to Kent. Also used for most short trips on electric.

Posted

Grand total of 15,000 (ish) - in reverse order of magnitude:

SLK320 ~ 1,000 miles
Bini          ~ 1,500 miles
CLK         ~ 5,500 miles
Boxer     ~ 7,000 miles

Weapon(s) of choice clearly indicated  (but SLK only owned for 7 months and 2-3 of them were in sickbay being toothcombed)

Our little C1 just crossed over the 100k mark by doing some 9k this year ...

Just about run in now !!

3,618 in the LT
4,682 in the iLoad
Only 512 in the Stellar (a cracked sump and little time to fix took that off the road for a while)
Around 3k miles each in the Landy and VFR I reckon.

Not bad going considering I work from home!
